Allardyce Planning Huge Clearout at Newcastle?

There are multiple reports in today’s papers that new manager Sam Allardyce will plan a huge clearout at Newcastle.

Whatever money he gets from the clearout – can be invested in new players coming to the club.

Sam Allardyce – He’s Not Worth that much !

The News of the World reports that Sam will be given ₤15M to spend in the summer plus whatever he gets in clearing out players.

Surprisingly the article indicates that Sam plans to unload Kieron Dyer, Scott Parker, Emre and Oba Martins and the first player he will bring in (for free) will be Mark Viduka.

For a free that is probably good business for Viduka – and we expect Sam to bring in some good players without having to pay way over the odds that previous managers paid. (see below for some of our worst ever deals).

Other players we expect to be moved and likely transfer amounts include:

  • Albert Luque sent on loan to PSV
  • Titus Bramble – free
  • Craig Moore – free
  • Celestine Babayaro – ₤1M
  • Stephen Carr – ₤1M
  • Olivier Bernard – free
  • Oguchi Onyewu – free

Why didn’t we extend Bramble’s contract so we then could sell him for say ₤2M to Portsmouth or Fulham?

titus-bramble.jpg

Bramble – why let him go for nothing?

The most we can get for these players is around ₤2M so Allardyce would need to sell some of the better players to generate real funds.

Other players that could be moved out (according to the News of the World) and likely transfer amounts include:

  • Kieron Dyer – ₤6M
  • Scott Parker – ₤6M
  • Emre – ₤6M
  • Martins – ₤15M
  • Owen – ₤9M

Of these four we think moving Owen, Parker and Martins out would not be good – but Dyer and Emre could be moved on to secure $12 in additional funds that would give Big Sam $14M plus the $15M he gets from the board up front.

As we all know – Newcastle have executed some very bad transfer deals in the past.

Some examples of overpaying in the last few years are listed below along with the manager who brought them in:

  • Elena Marcelino – center back – from Real Mallorca ₤6M (Ruud Gullit)
  • Diego Gavilán – midfielder – from Cerro Porteño ₤2M (Bobby Robson)
  • Hugo Viana – midfielder – from Sporting Lisbon ₤8.5M (Bobby Robson)
  • Jean-Alain Boumsong – center back – from Rangers ₤8.5M (Graeme Souness)
  • Albert Luque – striker – from Deportivo de La Coruña ₤9.5M (Graeme Souness)

We highlight these becasue we expect Allardyce to be a lot better in his transfer dealings than the above managers – and it is very likely Allardyce will completely change the look of the Newcastle team.

Who Sam will bring in is anybody’s guess but they are likely to be good value for money if he does what he did consistently did at Bolton.

Who do you think we should bring in to replace them?

Comments are always welcome.

    A few things….
You can’t extend somebodys contract just so you can get some money. I doubt any clubs would be interested in paying for Bramble – look at the last 4 summers, we probably would have sold him had a decent offer come in and no offers did.

Whatever the press say, nobody is going to fork out 6 mil for Dyer, however much I would like that.

Viana cost around £8.5 million, not £12 mil. and Martins has expressed his desire to stay and… challenge for the title… apparently.

Luque has also had a loan deal agreed with PSV so we won’t be raising 3 million from his sale to anyone.

Apparently Sam’s set to get 20 mil to spend, and I certainly don’t think its in the interests of the club to flog Parker, Emre and Martins on top of those who are out of contract. It’ll be very interesting to see how Allardye gets the team looking…

You could debate the disposal of some of the others but have you not seen Oba scolding himself when he misses a cross or a strike, that’s the sort of passion we need – he’s got everything we want, speed, strength, a hell of a shot, strikers instinct, great getting up in the air, only in his early 20’s, he just needs service from an established team.
Oh – but we’d take tired old Viduka instead???
    What rubbish.

John – cannot say we’ve ever really liked Viduka much but we never said to get rid of Martins.
Maybe we can sell Dyer and Emre….to make way for new midfielders – like Kevin Nolan.

Sean – the idea was to extend Bramble’s contract say in Jan for 2 years – and if he didn’t shape up – then sell him in summer. He’s made 157 appearances for Newcastle but agree he has a very bad name for making mistakes – at any time.
Whoops – right on Luque – maybe at the end of the season they’ll buy him – but not sure for how much – will probably follow the way of Vianna – who we kept loaning out.

well first of all selling parker, dyer and emre would be good for me.parker is over rated and just runs in circles when he gets the ball and he cant shoot for s**t same goes to dyer.they are both descent footballers but i feel will never live up to expectation.as for emre, another good footballer but havnt you noticed how he rolls around on floor at a touch, whinges like a little girl and gives up on tackles too often.weve got good forwards if we can hang on to them and good wingers.all we need is defence and central midfield sorted.i think allardyce will do this to great effect.hes took the p**s out of newcastle beforw when at6 bolton and hel know what exactly to do and who to buy.i say bring in nolan in place for parker.

keep owen or martins do not get rid of both, get viduka and ashton because hammers will go down today. Sell dyer and Emre and use money to by an attacking CM and the rest on a defence.

If he gets rid of Parker and Martins, then I’ll become a Sunderland supporter because that would be absolutely mad. I’m sick of all these deal talks every year. We have a good squad. Let’s just strengthen the back four and get on with it.

    What a pile of garbage.

So, all our managers have wasted money on transfers and Fat Sam won’t. The best manager ever in the premier league has wasted far more, Veron for starters. Name any manager at any club and i’ll compile a list of the rubbish deals the’ve done. ALL MANAGERS DO IT.

Why not give bramble a contract then sell him for £2m. Which muppet is going to pay that for him. They want him as he’s free so nort much of a gamble.

Parker what has he done for us.Is he a good Captain obviously no or he would motivate the players and speak to the defence does he score? no Play well and create chances? no . We need to keep dyer ,duff ,milner in midfield with a strong CAM who scores goals. I rate milner highly and i rekon he will be in Englan soon because he can play either wing and he also has vast experince for a player of his age. Ashton would be the new shearer if he came to use and i think him and owen would be lethal.

Big Sam won’t be able to cure the deep rooted problems at St.James in one Summer. It would be more realistic to hope that some stability can be brought to the club, after a decade of short tergm thinking. There is no need for the club to bring in big names just to cover over the cracks and distract the fans. What we need are players who will be here for the long haul, who muck in, respect the manager and most of all come to understand how much of an honour it is to play for the club. If Sam can unload Owen, Parker, Carr,Dyer and much of the flotsam around the club and bring in some honest, grafting players I for one will be a lot happier. However, getting some of these players out may be easier said than done…

I am fan from Bosnia, and I love Newcastle United even I have never seen England. We watch premier league every week and I read about Newcastle every day. But I am very concerned about talks of selling martins. He is only reason why we are not together with Watford on the bottom of table. Bramble is our worst player for couple of years. We should let Titus go and keep Oba for five years. My english is not so good. sorry for that. Peace.

We agree we’d like to keep Oba Martins – and Bramble has now had 5 years at Newcastle without convincing anyone he’s up to the job.

Newcastle need to offload the crap like babayaro, carr, bramble first, get rid of them 3 and the squads looking alot better already, dyer can go for me however if he doesnt i wouldnt be dissapointed as he is versatile and would still be a very handy squad player, parker i would keep, as i would emre, solano could probably go aswell, hes getting on and as much as i love the guy its time to step forward.
Owen is a must keep for me and anyone who says to get rid of him is a muppet. Theres key players you build a squad round and hes one of them. The same can be said for oba, if theres a forward leaving then shola can go hes 25 and hell never score more then 12-13 goals a season, however i wouldnt even touch our forward line as i think its exactly where it needs to be. 2 top class strikers in owen and martins , a solid back up in shola and a goot youngster in carroll.
As for players coming in, viduka is old and slow they can keep him and barton is a mental case, not exactly what you want hanging around the change rooms.
For me newcastle need a new right back, left back, experienced centre back and one attacking central midifelder. I feel everywhere else on the pitch we have quality players.

DONT LET MARTINS LEAVE!!! He is in his early 20’s and has alot to give, he is already good at the moment and will only get better with age. Mark viduka has nearly passed it, there is no point in getting rid of martins for him, if any thing get viduka in if owen leaves.

Greg – here’s who we think will leave:
Albert Luque (on loan to PSV), Titus Bramble, Craig Moore, Celestine Babayaro, Stephen Carr, Olivier Bernard and Oguchi Onyewu.
We would like to see 2 center backs and 2 full backs – plus if we can bring in another midfielder – good.
Andy Carroll is potential great player for us in couple of years (he looks good now!).

I think we should keep oba at all costs if he comes out and tells us why he wimped out of the watford game (an appoligises, Dyer got away with worse!). We have a good right back in Nobby Solano but we do need a good left back though. Midfielders, i can see Butt going to Sunderland and Parker staying, Emre is good and i think he will also stay. Dyer will go to Spurs and N’Zogbia to whoever will pay the fee, great player last season but has not done squat this year. Owen will stay, he will have to really as his image will take a battering if he goes after spending so long on the treatment table and i’d like to think he wants to repay the Toon Army faithful.
Players in? i expect big Sam to buy quality for under the market price and with £15-£30 mil who knows what he can do.

dyer has got to go, has been nothing but a source of negativity. Getting 9m for owen would be good. Emre hasn’t done anything spectacular, and i don’t think he’d do so from now on either. So there’s 20 mil to spend. Break the bank and get tevez.

I think if we are going to go anywhere we cant have players playing out of position like we have this year, we tried it and quite frankly i dont think it worked.
We cant afford to have solano at right back next year and carr at left back again, we need players who play that position week in and week out.
Wouldnt mind ben haim from bolton if sam can convive gartside to let him go, which i doubt.

Greg – we like Soano at right back – since he’s older it may be best for him to play there – to extend his career – but we see 2 center backs – and 2 full backs to come in – and ship most of the existing defense out! 😀

Goalkeeper. We are among the best in the league with Given and Harper. Young Krul will add the depht.

Our defence has been poor for long time, and Carr and Baba should follow the five already released. Build it around Taylor, and fill Ramage or Solano at the right back. Bring in a topclass centerback, a leadertype that Taylor can learn from. New leftback is a must!

Midfield. Strong, but as much as I like Parkers hard work, he doesent make the goalscoring passings, but too often turns around him self and backpasses. sell him if the price is right. Emre should get a more attatking role in the mid, and lett Butt be the “cleaner” – good attitude a pro!. Keep Milner for all sake, and get the best out of Duff. If Zoggy cant wait his time and act grown up, sell him!. Least Dyer, im mixed up. Our squad needs his pace, on the other hand his injury prone and too many headlines off the pitch

Attack. Keep Oba and Owen, and add a strong boxplayer, keep Shola as our fourth choise striker.

    Realistic targets.

    Sol Campell
    Wayne Bridge
    Mark Viduka

Just my two pennies – JH Proudly toonarmy supporter since 94.
