Sam Allardyce ready for “His Greatest Challenge”

Sam took over what he called his greatest challenge – when he was officially appointed Newcastle United Manager today.

We expect Sam to sort out any problems with current players very quickly – as he gave numerous interviews today – and comes across as a very fair, down to earth man – someone the Geordie Nation can certainly take to their hearts.

Sam Allardyce – “Watch Out – I’ve arrived !”

He talked glowingly of Newcastle United and the great ground we have – and how passionate the fans are – plus the fact we already have some great players on board.
In fact before he landed in his helicopter at St. James’ Park he asked the pilot and ground control – to circle over the stadium – so he could take a look at the great stadium where he will now be manager.

This appears to be a dream come true for Big Sam – and he seems to grasp the enormity of his task – but is nevertheless confident that if he puts the right structures in place – and brings in the right players – we will be successful.

Before the press conference today – Sam spoke to the Newcastle squad who were all ready to leave on their summer breaks.

Interestingly, both Owen and Martins were not at the ground – but had sent Sam their apologies – as they were unable to attend due to prior commitments. We know Michael Owen was in Ireland but we’re not sure where Oba Martins was – but at least they sent their apologies – so Martins cannot still be AWOL.

Hopefully that was only paper talk yesterday.

This is what the new Newcastle manager had to say:

“For me, the speculation around Michael will be resolved as soon as possible,”

Sam was then asked about Oba Martins – and whether Oba was part of his plans for the coming season – to which Sam replied:

“You wouldn’t want to lose your top goalscorer would you ?”

Before Sam left St. James on his brief visit he gave an interview to Newcastle World – and it shows just how down to earth, communicative and sensible Sam Allardyce is.

Every Newcastle fan should watch this video so we are putting it on our Newcastle United Blog site.

Here it is.

It seems very promising. Looking forward to next season, and hopefully Big Sam can bring us back to top.

Soren – Allardyce came over great in the conference call – and his interviews are also quite interesting – I’m sure he’ll do great – but we may have to be patient – which none of us are very good at. 😀
