Sir John Hall has given an interview to BBC Radio 5 in which he talks about potential new Newcastle owner Mike Ashley – and sheds more light on Mike and what he may be able to achieve at Newcastle United.
Sir John Hall
Here’s Sir John”s interview to BBC Radio 5:
“We’ve had quite a few people come to us, but many of them weren’t right,”
“I feel Ashley and his team are right. He’ll take us to a new dimension. I’m certain he’ll be good for the club or I wouldn’t have sold to him.”
“We probably ran out of ideas a bit. There’s no room for old men. I’ve got a lot of experience but it’s a young man’s gameâ€
“He knows the passion of the fans, he knows how much it means on Tyneside,”
“I’ve talked to him enough to be assured they’ve got the passion for the club as we all have.
“You can’t run a club without being attached to it.
You can’t run a club without feeling for it because it is about people, it’s about the passion of the people.
“He also knows the supporters are passionate.”
Sir John certainly gives Mike his blessing and seems genuinely convinced he is the right man for a new era at Newcastle.
The truth is we have gone stale – as witnessed by the passionate clamour that has come from Newcastle fans embracing Mike Ashley’s take-over bid.
We also know Hall does not believe Shepherd has done a good job since Bobby Robson left the club.
We’d agree with Sir John on that one – this is a new opportunity for Newcastle – and it’s definitely time for a new era.
