Here are the major news stories associated with the Newcastle club for today – in no particular order of priority.
- News today that Michael Owen came through the game for England B against Albania unscathed as England won 3-1.
Steven Taylor and Kieron Dyer were both introduced for the last quarter of the game.
Wonder when Owen’s going to tell us what his plans are for next season?
Michael Owen - News that we may be after Bolo Zenden from Liverpool. Zenden was Bobby Robson’s first choice – before we signed Laurent Robert – not sure if there is any truth to this – but he’s on a free and he’s a decent player. If you recall Zenden didn’t want to come to Newcastle and chose Chelsea instead.
Bolo Zenden - News that Alan Shearer has qualified for his A badge in coaching which he started last year. If Sam does well at Newcastle expect him to be Newcastle manager for at least 5 years – maybe Alan comes in after that?
Alan Shearer
Not much else that’s really new today – of course we have all the stories about Mike Ashley – but we strongly believe that Ashley being invited to next week’s board meeting – is a sure sign that Shepherd will not be resisting the takeover too much. With any luck it could all be resolved by next week at this time.
Then we will need to get answers from Owen and others – so Big Sam knows exactly who he needs to replace.
Hopefully – he will also know how much money he has to invest in the transfer market – but he doesn’t have to spend it all if suitable players are not available. We expect Sam to continue to bring in one or two unknowns – and sign quite a few players on free transfers – that’s his style – and that’s OK.
Let us know your thoughts and opinions on these stories.

Comment #1Not hoping that the Zenden story is true! He has disapointed wherever his has gone Barcalona, Chelsea, Middlesborough and Liverpool. He wouldn’t be a good signing considering the midfield we already posses at Newcastle. Let’s get Payet instead! 🙂

some like sol cambell, sami hypia, baines,o’shea.i think big sam needs to listen what the fans want.i think we need some experience in the team which i said a few examples at the beginning of my sentence.

Comment #7Aye, I only have to look at Milner ( who Roeder almost gave away to Villa ) to see a true winger with true ability and a heart that is in the club.
Zenden can bugger off.

Comment #8Joel – agree completely – in fact we could do with what we’ve got except for the defense – sure Sam has earmarked a few defenders… we’ve heard he’s after Baines, Ben Haim, Hyypia (and Campbell) – but you can never tell what’s real. Here’s a relevent article – before Big Sam was appointed

Comment #9I don’t see Zenden coming to Newcastle. We really don’t need him. I’ve really got my hopes up for Baines. He would be great.
