Major Newcastle News Stories – June 4th, 2007

Here are the major news stories associated with the Newcastle club for today – in no particular order of priority.

Major news is that Scott Parker does not want to leave Newcastle but seems to be being forced out by Sam Allardyce. This dominates the reports today.

  • Strange news today being reported that Scott Parker does not want to leave Newcastle but is being forced out by Sam Allardyce – as his replacement Joey Barton moves in from Manchster City. Both moves are said to be going through today with Scott getting $72,000 per week at West Ham. Well I guess they too have the money under private ownership. Don’t bother doing the calculation that’s $3.744M per year.

  • News in the Telegraph  that Alan Shearer thinks that David Beckham is too good for the LA Galaxy. We agree with that – as we mentioned yesterday – but it’s hard to see how he can out of his contract now. Over here in the US they are making a very big deal of Beckham – but the Galaxy are also now concerned about Beckham continuing to play for England – since they have lots of promotional events lined up for him. We think David decided on the Galaxy after McClaren dropped him from the England team – a dumb move as it turns out – and David thought his International career was over.

  • News that both Tal Ben Haim and Mark Viduka will be joining Newcastle this week. We did run a story yesterday about Birmingham trying to snatch Viduka at the last moment – but why would Mark want to join Brum? He also wants to keep his family settled in the North East – so a move to Newcastle makes a lot of sense.. Both players are good buys for Newcastle and cost us …………..nothing.  😀

  • News that Bolton are trying to snatch Antoine Sibierski from under the noses of Wigan. Sammy Lee is desparate to sign players as he is losing a few of his own. Antoine should do very well at either club – and we wish him the very best.

We’d appreciate your comments on the above news stories.

If I was Scottie, I would not want to stay… unless he wants to warm the bench next season. Big Sam probably wants a more creative playmaker… not sure what system he has in mind, 4-4-2 or 4-3-3. Viduka the target man flanked by Owen and Martins?… that would be an exciting prospect.

Every year there are so many players linked to our club, which of the following that have been linked do you think are likely to come?
    Jean-Sebastien Jaures
    Claudio Cacapa
    Leighton Baines
    Sami Hyypia
    Sol Campbell
    Tal Ben Haim
    Derek Boateng
    Joey Barton
    Nigel Reo-Coker
    Mark Viduka
    Peter Crouch
    Nicolas Anelka
    Steve Sidwell
    David Beckham
    David Rozenhal
    Gokdeniz Karadeniz
    Phil Jagielka
    Dimitri Payet

And who do you think will be sold?
Emre – Linked to Bayern Munich
    Dyer – Linked to Tottenham
    Butt – Linked to Sunderland
    Martins – Arsenal/Juventus
    Owen – Liverpool/Arsenal/Man Utd

I think Sam is waiting for this takeover to happen, then he will be able to spend big. The player we are being linked to at the moment will be useful additions to the squad, but none really are top 4 players. Do you think he is getting a back bone first then going to splash the cash?

Aaron – here’s an opinion (you’re right every year – we are linked with stacks of players).
Coming – Baines, Ben Haim, Boateng, Barton, Viduka, Rozenhal and maybe Jagielka.
Going – Dyer (definitely if we can get 10M for him) and maybe one of Carr or Babayaro – I’ll say Babayaro.
It must be hard for Sam right now – but think you are right – he’ll build the squad with good players – for good value – we have already got rid of 7 – and then if Ashley comes in (i pray every night) – will go for 2-3 world class players with the cash – and he’ll have plenty left. Note i think Owen will stay.
