Newcastle Transfer News on Viduka, Ben Haim and Rosehnal

Mark Viduka beat Joey Barton to it this afternoon and after passing his medical at St. James’ Park he signed on the dotted line for Newcastle.
The paper work is keeping Barton from being a Newcastle player but we also expect David Rosehnal and Ben Tal Haim to become Newcastle players within the next few days.

Big Sam – Viduka and Barton In – Who’s Next?

Mark Viduka the Aussie striker has now officially signed for Newcastle United after passing a medical at St. James Park today. Mark has signed a two year deal and was a free agent so cost Newcastle nothing in terms of transfer fees. He scored 19 goals for Middlesbrough last season and Mark along with Owen, Martins and Ameobi will form an awesome strike force for Newcastle next season.
This is what Manager Sam Allardyce said about the signing:

“We are getting a player with vast experience in Premiership football and a natural goalscorer,”
“He has the size and stature to lead our front line and is direct competition for Shola Ameobi, who is fit again now.
“It is common knowledge that every manager in the game wants two players for every position, and that is what we will have at Newcastle United next season as far as our strikers are concerned.
“It is a great start for us as we already have Oba Martins and Michael Owen who can play off a big man. It is all looking very exciting.”

Mark also spoke about his move as he told the NUFC official site:

“Talking to Sam was a big turning point for me.
“I really wanted to hear what Sam’s plans were for the new season and what players he was looking to bring in.
“And his answers matched with what I was thinking myself.
“I want to win things and Newcastle United is a club that has all the ingredients to do that, especially with Sam coming in.”

We think Sam will be able to get the very best out of Mark – and that should be it for strikers unless of course Owen decides to move on. If that happens Big Sam may try to lure Nicholas Anelka or David Trezeguet (Juventus) to Newcastle – but we’ll need to know Owen’s intentions soon.

Ben Tal Haim should also be joining Newcastle soon, having been linked with the move for a couple of weeks now. He is another free agent and this is what Big Sam had to say about Ben Hain – who of course he worked with at Bolton after bringing in him from Israel in 2004 for £400,000:

“Yes, I’m interested in Tal Ben Haim, he’s a free agent and hopefully available.
“He has got three or four years of experience in the Premiership and I know him inside out.
“We had a good working relationship, we grew in the Premiership together and I’m very interested in working with him again.”

David Rosehnal has already expressed a desire to play for Newcastle United. His agent Pavel Zika is confident a transfer will be concluded very soon and told MF Dnes yesterday:

“David’s move is not clear yet, but the clubs have contacted each other,”
“If they reach an agreement, I am convinced that we will agree to for the player.
“In my opinion, everything is a matter of if just hours or days.”

Pavel Zika has earlier talked about David’s desire to play for Newcastle – which we reported a couple days back:

“David would love to play for Newcastle,” “He knows manager Sam Allardyce was also a centre-back and believes he can learn from him.”
“Allardyce was keen to sign David back in January for Bolton and I know he came to watch him play against Wales.
“David has played for one great club, PSG, but would love to come to the Premiership and play for another.
“PSG are holding out for the right offer for their player.”

So we expect Viduka, Barton, Ben Haim and Rosehnal to be with us very shortly. The next two to come in should be Leighton Baines from Wigan Athletic (£5M) and Derek Boateng from Beiter Jerusalem in Israel (<£1M).

yeaah they will be good signings. it’ll be good to have a couple of decent players and baines is a good player. i think we should still look for bigger players if we are getting the money from ashley’s takeover.

So far this is a great piece of business from BSA. He will bring in SIX players in for LESS THAN 10M ! He will cover our problem areas such as our defence, creativity from midfield and our lack of goals. I am really looking forward to next season, but I am sure it will get even better with the takeover almost complete after Fat Freddie Shepherd agreed to sell his shares. I expect for us to go for a real Star Player with a great reputation with the money injection we will have from our hero Mike Ashley. Damn I love this club!!

I’m very excited by the week’s results, Big Sam has obviously been hard at work in his new job. If we can pull off the signings we’re being linked with, I’ll be more than happy. Viduka is class, and I feel Barton (with Sam’s guidance) could be the next Gerrard. Shrewd buying by Allardyce could also free up a few quid for a truly world class player…or two. Here’s hoping! Also, if Michael Owen doesn’t want to stay now, he needs his head looking at. If he does go, I think we should use Ashley’s millions and Sam’s silver tongue to get Torres…that would really let the rest of the premiership know that we mean business.

The happiest thing for me is to see speculation being turned into reallity. Previously we’ve been rumoured to be looking at players only for them to go elsewhere.

Big Sam definately has a gift of persuation. After talking to Barton he didn’t even want to speak to any more clubs. If he can get Ben Haim and a few others in defence then the team is starting to look good.

Wait till the new board are in place and the club has been totally re-structuered, then the really big moves will be made in the transfer market.
Will the stadium be big enough to hold us all as we go on to become a permanant top four club, winning with regularity.
When we do make sure your in the toon that night because l promise you, you will have seen nothing like it.
l have waited 53 years for this and all the ingredients are in place now to finish 5th but watchout next year.

Hey guys, Im from Newcastle and check most days and read this blog. Usually agree….but today Im not sure. Just because we signed Barton and Viduka doesnt mean we will be challenging the big guns…Ben Haim would be a great signing and if we could get Baines and a Right Back in, then thats the defence sorted

All Newcastle can do this summer is buy players who can get the club into Europe, forget about Torres and Trezeguet, theyre looking to move to clubs who play regular CL football…Newcastle arent even UEFA cup this season, so maybe next summer the big guns can start coming in.

Ameobi Out, David Nugent in, then maybe Baines, Ben Haim and a new Right Back, along with 1 or 2 squad players, then we can challenge for 6th and 5th.

Boateng and Rozenhal???? Never heard of em to be fair, so I wouldnt get all excited about them. Allardyce signs foreign players who people havent heard of, but lets face it, Ben Haim and Teymourian are successes, but Meite, Faye and a few others are just decent at best.

around £13M it will end up as if we get all the players listed above. Brilliant start, thats 6 players and im sure Big Sam has confidence in them because of his excellent ability to “spot” players, they should be quality for us. Who knows who else will be in the pipeline??? espicially with the Mike Ashley news. Very exciting times indeed. Role on the new season!!!

I would like us to push ahead for Baines now, we arent the only club interested and he is the best of all the players we have been linked with. I agree with everyone that if all these deals go through, we will have made very good deals and with 30 mil still in the bank. Imo we should go for 2 top class wings tho, Duff seems injury prone and Milner isnt good enough to make us a top club even tho he did well last season. I would love to see us go for Simao and Ribery, tho we havnt een mentioned along with those names before.

This is the beginning for something big, and the players who are coming in, want to be a part of it. I think the squad will be more motivated than ever this season, and so will the fans! glory and triumph for Newcastle 🙂

l don’t expect players with world class talent to be on Sam’s radar unless they are slightly passed there best this year, because we are not in the European competitions.
Expect qualification into Europe via 5th or 6th in premier league and another 2 or 3 wonderful players added.
In season 2009-2010 if we are strongly challenging Arsenal, Chelsea, Man United and Liverpool or have already qualified for champions league then get really exited because truely world class players will be purchased in their prime.
Ashley has stated he wants us challenging for top silverware in 3 years and l think the plan above will be roughly his model.
The stadium will have to be enlarged or possibly a new one built to hold 70000-80000 fans with an excellent metro and road link and huge car parking space, controvertial l know but if Ashley thinks this will maximise potential he will do it anyway and be dammed by the traditionalists.
Also expect our own tv channel and Newcastle to buy up smaller clubs and use them as feeders for our future stars.

Viduka, Owen, Martins & Ameobi do look a big strikeforce but i think its only in numbers. I think we need a better forward. I would have swap Vid, Ow & Ameobi for Torres alone.

David – well said – we have always been keen for Newcastle to buy one of the MLS teams in USA – there are some good young players coming through as football (soccer) here is getting more popular and Americans see there is big money to be made in the sport – more so even than there sports – that’ll cause a change over here in the way they treat soccer.
Also like your views on the new stadium and other things – we may need more than 60,000 and sure Ashley will agree with that. Certainly it’s all very exciting – this all must be a dream.

Valle – it’s for the future – the expanded stadium will need to be ready for 2012 Olympic Games – so plenty of time to get Newcastle challenging for big honors by then. 😀
