Albert Luque Not Snubbed By Allardyce At All

There is news making the rounds today that Sam Allardyce has snubbed Albert Luque. Let’s look at the facts here and see what really may be happening.

albert-luwue.jpg

Albert Luque

The new is that Boss Sam Allardyce has made it clear there is no place for the Spanish striker in his Tyneside revolution.

Luque is going on a season long loan to PSV next season and will get the opportunity to play European Champions League football.
The piece of news at the heart of this story is that Luque’s father told the Daily Mirror yesterday:

“We’ve tried to contact Allardyce to see what plans he has.
But he has not spoken to us at all.”

If this is true it probably means that Sam is not willing to do anything right now with Luque – as he leaves for his season long loan. But what happens if Luque comes into his own next season. There are two things that could happen.
One is that we will sell Albert to PSV – presumably for an already agreed to price.
The second is that Big Sam may try his chances with Luque – depending how our season goes – and bring him back to Newcastle to see if Sam can work his magic on him.

So it’s not at all clear to us that Sam has snubbed Luque at all.
What do you think about this?

Well researched as the rumours are that the deal you mention collapsed. At the time there was no confirmation of its conclusion neither. Wow. You astound us. x

    Disagree competely.

Luque is on what – 75K a week plus, and it seems pretty obvious that Newcastle are unable to recover anything resembling a decent percentage of his original transfer fee by off loading him now.

The plan must be to agree a transfer fee, less than what we want now but more than we’d get next year (sod all) and significantly reduce the current payroll by passing his salary on to someone else.

Yes, should he do a Beckham and actually figure our how to play football again, then we might keep him, but it looks like his style is not suited to the “Wham Bam Thank You” plan of the premiership.

Personally I like him and think we did everything we possibly could to stifle his talent.

Anyway – He’s on loan to reduce costs and recover the max from that shambles of a deal that was his transfer. If he does a Beckham and we keep him that’ll be a happy accident rather than a cunning plan.

Luque is nothing more than a lazy twat, he has been given numerous chances to play and to perform, he fell dismally short of the expectations of the fans his managers and team mates.

Now he wont go to PSV because he will not reduce his excessive wage demands 75 grand a week for that prick is nothing short of theft on his behalf. Just get him out of the toon even if we have to give him a free, he’s a Vianna in disguise loads of potential big reputation, big salary, big contract and a big waste of fresh air.

Yes, Sky Sports does say that his loan deal with PSV has fallen through so I expect that Sam will be in contact with him soon to sort out his next season whether it be with us or someone else. Personally I would like him to stay as he has got some real talent, especially with Ashley in the wages shouldn’t be a problem and theres a good chance that BS can turn him round after we did our very best to stifle his talent.
    Looking forward to next season…

Can’t help but agree with Brian. One manager was was wrong to buty him (we all know who), however can three managers all be wrong to not to pick him. A lot of rubbish was sprouted by some people about how Roeder almost had a vendetta against the guy.

Two managers have seen him close up and one looks as though isn’t going to bother. This speaks far louder than any “youtube” clips going around; the basis on which many of Luque’s defenders seem to rate him.

He looks destined to leave us in very similar circumstances than he did with his previous club. Apparently being in dispute or out of favour with the management team and bickering over money that he believes he is owed.

I think that we should give luque a chance…he is pure talent….i watched him a lot at deportivo. The problem was after his injury Roeder didnt seem to like him. I mean Roeders man management skill problems are well documented, and with Big Sams ability to get the best out ofhis players i think he should give Luque a chance as he is one of the most talented, skillful, flairful players around and under sam could shine.

Jon Dahl Tomasson Springs to mind everytime I hear Albert Luque’s name mentioned. He will come good again I am sure but not at Newcastle or any other Premiership club, he is never going to adapt to the pace of our league. But watch him go again if he rejoins La Liga

He never really got a chance at town tho, he was injured from the start! We shouldnt have played him until he was fit, then everyone got on his back and his head went down!!

we never gave him a chance/supporters and managers alike!!!

i belive that you shouldnt judge a player by their amazing pieces of quality, but how well they play when they are at their worst!
luque looks a prime example of this.. he had some amazing moment in La Liga but wot we didnt see was what he did for the rest of the game.

Do us all a favour and get rid of the SOD, cos id imagine that the liukes of Taylor r fed up witht he sight of him loungin about the club every day!

free up som wages and take the 10m loss on him, tht to be frank, is the ONLY way we are going to get rid of him!

Whoops – apologies for that – i didn’t see that his loan deal has fallen through.
There were comments previously in whether Sam could get the best out of Luque – so it will now be brought to a head – heck – we don’t want to be saddled with his wages if he isn’t going to play for us. Why wouldn’t Sam take a look at him in training and see what he’s like first?

“we never gave him a chance/supporters and managers alike!!!”

Hes been at the club nearly 2 years do you really think in all that time he hasn’t had a chance to show what he can do. Tell you what give me 75 grand a week and 2 years professional football coaching and training (even under GS and GR) and I guarantee I will be a better all round footballer than Luque, and Im hitting 50+.

“u are dappas ! hen is a good playah jus cos he foreign bo 1 likes him. if he was english evry1 wud be sayin giv him mo chnces all our fans are idiots !”

Sorry mate but you are calling us idiots and you write like that. Add to that, apart from the idiot bit I haven’t got a f**in clue what you are saying.

“I think that we should give luque a chance…he is pure talent….i watched him a lot at deportivo.”

Luque could never in a million years be described as pure talent. I would really like him to be then we could sell him and buy a decent player.

Brian i have watched him about 30 times in la liga over when he used to play over there and he was pure talent. Granted he has his bad games, but he had many moments of magic and brilliance, and i think big sam is the man to bring i out.

Play him on the left, damien duff hasnt been at his best, and charles needs to learn a bit of temperament first.

Many players have come from the spainish league and done well…just look at liverpool…and there is a reason he cost 9.5million, coz he is quality.

He hasnt had many chances, and when he has been given any, he has been played out of position.

    @ Tom

I think 2 years is more than enough time to show any flashes of brilliance that maybe lurking around, I never saw him play in La Liga but I have seen him train and play in the premiership, and he does not put in the required effort, he is slow and has no stomach for a hard tackle. He may well be the greatest thing since sliced bread in La Liga (although if he was that good then I’m sure there would have been a load of Spanish teams after him).

I really wanted him to be a great player but unfortunately he isn’t. Lets just hope that Sam can get him motivated because I think that is what his problem is, he just cannot be bothered.

The reason he cost us 9.5 million is he was a panic buy and they saw us coming.

3 I believe he signed in 2005 for 5 years.

    He cost us 9.5 million
His salary is 75,000.00 a week thats about 4 million a year
so total cost to the club over 5 years will be about 30 million (F**k me that big money for a sh*t player)

cathal – if Big Sam is not going to use Luque – think you’re right – we’ll have to offload him – even at a loss – so we get him off the wage bill. 75K/week – thanks Souness!

Its not about being picky or not given enough chances, but the fact Luque is happy to be a benchwarmer is a good reason for any manager not to get him on the pitch. But I hope Big Sam will work on him to see what he really capable of.

  • Hello is anybody out there. Where are everyone?
How can you all criticise a player that is still in your club?
Luque is a good player, he will proof it @ PSV. Then you will eat your words.
Roader did not know better then that. Luque was professional and didn’t say anything to the fans.
Only fool was Roader, to say he would give him the opportunity to proof him self.
And he did, Palermo game, he performed OK not bad and scored the wining goal.
Roader rewards him by putting him on the bench. (Sorry he wasn’t in the team next game).
Next tow games he was on the bench. Then he disappeared. Roader putt him on an exile.
Luque did not score 1 goal they wore 3 synch he came here. 4 if you take the goal in the Shearer final game.

    Luque 6(10) 2 33,3%
    Martins 43(3) 17 39,5%

Seen him asda (benton) once… seems a nice guy but he had a really fat kid (massive) and was taking him to the in-house McDonalds? surely that cant be the actions of an intelligent wing wizard!!! Just for those actions i think we should flog him to some la liga side and cut the wage bill ive had to shop at tesco’s ever since.

£75,000 a week to do bugger all, why would he want to leave….To all those who say he was injured, then wasnt given a chance thats bull. Whenever he has played he has truged round the park like a petulant school boy, pissed off cause he thinks he’s brilliant and most of us don’t agree. So a lot of his games were from the bench, so what some of the best players have come on late in a game and shown the commitment required. Oni gunner Solskar, Steve Highway etc. Perhaps he should look at what happened to Milner and start to show a similar commitment to wanting to be on the park. He’s a lazy sod and instead of giving him Champions League next year with PSV we should give him conference with York City…If were going to pay for him anyway id rather he was doing that than turning out forour reserves as he is not fit to wear the black and white. Sam should make it clear to all the squad you go missing in a game you wont be playing in the next one.

Noel – agree – Miilner showed just great character last season and i love that last sentence – that should be the mantra for next season. Also when he drags them off after going missing – he should give them a big kick up the backside as he propells them on to the dressing room. – love it!

I can’t believe what I’ve just read on this thread. Are the Toon fans really divided on this? The man is an absolute disgrace – no better than Marcelino, Maric, Viana and the other overpaid, underperforming tossers to have pulled on a black and white shirt in recent years. He’s had ample games to prove his talent and we’ve seen precious little of his unbelievable skill for our investment. I NEVER want to see him in our colours again as it would be a sign of absolute desperation. And it would break the hearts of the young players trying to break into the first team He’s been left wing, up front, behind the main striker and he’s been absolutely cack. Happy to pick up easy dollars to spend at McD’s by the sound of it. Big Sam may have worked wonders on players believed to be past it at Bolton but transforming Luque would be the stuff of water and wine, bread and fish proportions. The big difference with the players BS worked at with Bolton is that he brought them in, sold them the idea and got them to perform. Luque has far too much baggage at St James’ for that to be possible. And don’t give me that “support the lads” bollocks. His effort and application have been appalling and there’s absolutely no excuse for that. Look at the adulation Sibierski got just for trying. I’m sorry but Luque is a dead loss and must be peddled. We’re looking at a new start here – new manager, new owners, new players (hopefully). Let’s not hang our hats on someone who has never demonstrated an ounce of commitment to our club.

  • steve you are a dreamer come on. are you a toon or wath.
Luque has to have the same opportunity as all.
he did not get it from Roader he did wiht Gream S.
and he was moving and making opportunitys, many wore not good but he was trying. then Roader came to the story and you know the rest.
