Kev I’ve been NUFC fan since 1992 (when Keegan became manager) despite I’m from Poland but because I’m not british I’m interested and know well football from outside the UK. I have seen a lot of french league and Czech national team so I know what I’m talking about. Of course it is always a risk with foreign players from other leagues.
Talking about how poor french league is is silly. Some of you think Championship is better if you want Curtis Davis? Ronaldinho went to Barca from PSG. They were stupid buying player from such a poor league… Cech from Strasbourg, Essien – Lyon, Drogba – Marseille…

I never heard so much bullshit come out of one person’s mouth as Rozenhal’s agent. He’s the problem in this saga. He’s constantly trying to start a bidding war for the player. He’s just after a big payday.
I can see Big Sam pulling out on this one, cause he won’t be held to ransom.

Another thing though, Sam has been looking elsewhere as he’s had an approach for Silvestre and Wes Brown turned down. Maybe Rozenhal will only be on his shortlist if other targets turn him down.

Pete – that’s what we are hoping too – that Sam has been tracking him while at Bolton – he tried to sign him for Bolton in January. We should know later today – although his agent seems a little strange – so don’t know if there will be a decision today.

Smudge will be an ace signing, he puts his all into the game – we need more players like that. Hopefully Man City will get Owen before the season starts that will leave us with: Oba, Viduka, Ameobi, Smudge and 9 Million to spend on some quality defenders.

The fact that Rosehnal is unknown does not really fill me with confidence. Hopefully Sam has been watching him for a long time at Bolton but I would rather he bought a proven premiership defender.

Just because someone plays for the Czech Republic doesn’t make him a good player. The facts are obvious, he DOES play for a league at a far lower quality than our own, surley if he was a class player then at 26 he should have made his mark by now, not just known by people who have seen his odd displays (I wonder what the quality of oppisition was like when you seen him play). And how can Andreas keep highlighting how good the french league is when we all know how bad it really is is beyond my knowledge. And finally for nufcstats.com, you must have been watching a great player when of all the times you’ve seen the Czech’s play, he just so happens to have theese superb displays. This to me, sounds like you’re making theese many superb displays up to just sound like you know what you’re talking about.

I agree with Craig C and his comments, it was obvious that the lad did not want to come (Rozenhal) otherwise as soon as the Toon came calling he would have at least showed an interest which he did not judging by his newspaper interview. According to the teletext this morning Newcastle have had a 3.5 m bid accepted for Smith(Man U) why????? do we want another striker??? Oba wants to stay and he has electric pace,WOWS the fans because he has class and is exciting. According to god(Shearer) Owen will be here at the Toon this season. I like Hyppia, we all know he does not have a lot of pace but he has vision and can help Taylor command from the back. I still trust in Sam though and hope we get the quality defenders that we need and soon.

rozehnal is a good player…but this saga is draging on way too long…
if he doesn’t decide for us, i won’t be too disapointed though..or surprised… there are still some great targets avalible (curtis, coloccini,..) and at least we’ll know the situation about rozehnal before transfer window actually opens…

maybe some have not heard of him because they only know Premiership and some superstars from colour magazines nad tv comercials… He plays for Czech Republic which is one of the best teams in Europe and I saw him many times with superb dispalys. I’m interested how many had heard about Vidic before he has joined ManU… And please don’t compare Dunne or someone like that to Rozehnal. And he is so cheap. For that class player based in England you have to pay 2-3times more.
I hope we finally get some defenders in time to be well prepared for the start of the season and not finish with some like Olly Bernard snap the day after transfer window closing…

My best guess is that this is just Pavel Zika talking up the price. Last week – he wants to go to Dortmund. Dortmund officially pull out and get a free. Then – he wants to stay in Paris. Now – Sevilla want him. I am assuming Sam is smart enough to be looking at other options and if one of those comes good we can withdraw the offer. Maybe the whole gig is just Sam’s way to get the price of Curtis Davies reduced, last I heard he had gone from 12 to 10 to 8mm? I love the close season, more entertaining than the matches.

@gordon and azvael. Just because you haven’t heard of a player doens’t make him crap or “not quality”. In my opinion it’s narrowminded to think that only PL-playing players or players in “top clubs” are good enough.

Ligue1 one of the weakest leagues in Europe? Think again mate! Although league rankings are quite subjective, it’s a fairly common view that Ligue1 is one of the 5 best leagues (in Europe – which pretty much = the world).

Ligue1 is clearly beaten by PL and Primeria, but is easily on par with Seria A (yes the Italian TOP TEAMS are better than the French, but not the league) and Bundesliga.

Hence, I do think a player that was in the Ligue1 team of the year will fare well in PL. Moreover, he’s playing regularly for the Czechs – and that team is as good as (at least) England which also is a quite strong sign of quality.

Yes, there might be some other alternatives but I’m sure he would be an excellent signing (if he indeed want to play for us and we are able to snatch him).

No way do we want Dunne – he is over-rated and overweight. There are not many good CB’s available in England right now, I guess thats why SA is looking overseas. I would take Hyppia or Sol Campbell though in the short term. Plus we need two full backs, Nickt Shorey perhaps?

I agree with you gordon! I think its time to buy great CB with EPL experience like Dunne,. Maybe Rozenhal is 6 feet 3 but he play in France!!! One of the weakest league in Europe.
