David Rozehnal To Sign For Newcastle on Monday

June 23rd, 2007 · 10 Comments

Paris Saint Germain’s Czech Republic international defender, David Rozehnal, is set to sign a four-year deal with Newcastle United on Monday, his agent Pavel Zika revealed last night.

Pavel Zika in his continuing press announcement on this transfer said last night:

“We’re leaving for England on Sunday night and David will undergo a medical on Monday morning. Afterwards he should sign the contract.”

Certainly Zika seems to have conducted this transfer in the press – commenting every few days on what the situation is and which club was ahead – as though it was a horse race. Anyway, Newcastle finally got their man and looks like he will be a Newcastle player on Monday and may even be unveiled to the Newcastle fans and press on Monday or maybe Tuesday.

A good signing for us we feel and he will give us the added height needed at the back. We still need one experienced center back (Sami Hyypia?) and two full backs. As we revealed yesterday Newcastle are after right back Luke Young of Charlton along with Bolton and Aston Villa.

Rozehnal, who turns 27 next month, joined PSG in June 2005 on a four-year deal from Club Brugge and it is now being reported that he has 34 caps for the Czech Republic and not the 26 we had been reporting. He played 78 times for PSG scoring a single goal and was PSG’s player of the year last year.

Comments welcome.

Great news! :D looking forward to see him and Taylor in our centre defence.

thank you for that, he will really be a great asset to this club. BUT FOR GOD SAKE STOP MENTIONING SAMMI HYPIA WITH THIS FOOTBALL CLUB, HE IS TOO OLD AND VERY MUCH PAST HIS TIME, HE IS A PLAYER FOR TEAMS LIKE FULHAM, NOT NEWCASTLE, AND SURLEY IF LIVERPOOL DONT WANT HIM, THEN SURLEY WE DONT.

Well said AlexW totally agree, we dont want or need hyypia. He is not good enough and has been making a few mistakes recently. No better than bramble IMO.

glad we have rozenhal basically tied up but i still cant understand why the fcuk we are after people like luke young when sam has alot of money left in the bank now ashley has toakenover am i right ? we need QUALITY full backs not ppl like young imo

Instead of Hyypia, we could bring back Aaron Hughes from Villa. He has experience and can play all across the defence.

AlexW - i get the distinct impression you are not a fan of Sami. :D

Soren - this week there has been news Aaron Hughes was off to Fulham to join Lawrie Sanchez.

Ahh bugger. He looked good for the price at £1mil.

nope, i do not like him, never will like him, i would prefer bramble at the back than that old boot. He is not newcastle united quality, we need some high qualitie players at the back and i feel rozenhal and tayler fit that bill perfectly with ramage on the bench in backup. wingers has got to be our main priority now and leighten baines and nickey shorey surley must be up for contention.

AkexW - OK - I’d not be surprised if Ramage was pushing to get in somewhere along the back four - he may be like Aaron Hughes - and slot in for players when they are injured. He always gives 100%.
