Thank you Ashley, buying out Shepard! He cannot class himself as a Geordie, he don't know what it means to be a geordie, we look after eachother - sacking Bobby Robson, not the best brainwave. Bad press not needed at a football club, so sack him from club chairman immediatly! Get someone who knows what the Geordie fans want. Get Bobby Robson into an ambessador for the club, he saved us, so lets show a little respect back! Allardyce needs to spend money on a new look Newcastle, a new number 2 keeper, Robert Green, a whole new defence, well keep Taylor and send Ramage out on loan, he wouldn't get in a Man Utd squad, so why should he be in ours, get him some more experiance and he will be a better player for it! Young James Collins from West Ham, a great player, to pair up with Taylor, Leighton Baines would be a much admired transfer. Sell Carr, he too old and slow! Luke Young fairly good, but lets get the best right back in the world - Miguel Liverpool and Chelsea want him so lets buy him, for £14m he would be the best right-back and had around 10 years in him. A new right winger Wright-Phillips or Robben for round £15m, if Ashley has bought the club, he knows how much needs to be spent so lets spend it now and have a new season which we can go places - Championship race or a FA Cup would do! Lets go places, Newcastle should be up there, its a lot of work and money away, but now is the chance to do it! PS Ashley, if you looking for somone to help you give us a bell!

Gateshead Glenn - If we assume we can get Beye for 2M and Geremi for a free Sam will have bought 5 players for a net outlay of less than 4M. That's great in our opinion. He is not used to laying out big cash for players in any case - and at Newcastle - before even Ashley took over - he was said to be given 20M plus anything he could get from players - and he's already taken in 7M for Parker - so I really believe if Sam wanted a really expensive player (from his viewpoint) - like 10M - he'd have the money because since the 20M was promised Ashley is in control and presumably has more money available - you just have to assume that. Also Mike said he wants Newcastle to be the biggest, best and successful. So I don't think there's much argument with that statement. However - I'll take back the unlimited quote - obviously that must have been after my 5th coffee - and getting carried away again.
OK - will try to play down the hype (and reduce the caffeine intake!)
I do want this site to be down to earth and for the fans - so we can judge what's real and what's not - and view the news from the fans viewpoint - and decide what the news - if it is true - means to the club - that's an important thing for all of us interested in the success of Newcastle. :D

Sorry to be 'picky' Ed, but what makes you think Sam "shouldn't be restricted by money this Summer" and that "funds are not a problem". Like many managers Sam will have money to spend but even Chelski are working to a budget now. Hopefully our budget will be greater than most but it's not going to be unlimited. Only Man U have spent huge amounts of money so far and they've only done that by major season-ticket price-rises even tho' they've increased their ground capacity.

Whilst the exact amount available for transfers may not be "too important", let's not join-in with media-hype and political 'spin'. We've had enough of all that with Tony B-liar who may be moving-out to join you in the states soon? At least you are a real Newcastle supporter tho' Ed, not like Blair!

P.S. --- don't take my criticisms to heart. I do enjoy your web-site, I'm just a bit irritated by all the hype in footbal (and life in general?!) these days. Keep-up the good work and hope you manage to come over 'the pond' for a few games this season as I think it's gonna be an interesting / exciting one. Cheers!

Hey - I don't think it's too important whether Sam has 50M, 40M or 30M or even 25M - because the point is that Sam shouldn't be restricted by money this summer. If he does identify a player worth 20M say - I'm sure he would be backed 100% by Ashley - and that's how it should be. Whether it's worth it for Sam to bring in a big player this year - it's really up to him - and i'd support whatever he thought wa right. But the point is - funds are not a problem to him this summer - wonder what Sam feels about this - having been so restricted at Bolton?

Agree with Gateshead Glen, we need to take this with a pinch of salt especially when the source is the hacks at the Daily Mirror (weren't they the ones who said Smith was a done deal) - I'd certainly hope BSA has been given a huge pot of cash but to start publicising this will only end up that we play 6 million for a 3 million player etc.
That said I'm really looking forward to next season (especially as I'd all but given up hope in the latter of Reoders management career - c'mon the toon

Lets take a quick look at the fact checking that went on at author and editorial level on this one, along with the proof reading shall we?

"Chris Mort will handle Newcastle United’s daily affairs from now on - and the 41-year-old lawyer has been appointed Deputy Chairman"........"Mort, 38, advised Ashley on his £133 million acquisition of Newcastle."
