Although we may have funds it doesn't mean we can buy who we want, there will be a lot of top players that won't sign for us simply because they want to play for a team that has qualified for european competitions.

Liverpool are pursuing Torres. I think we should stick a bid in.

I agree with Aaron D . Van der Vaart would be a good signing. He'd be available for around 15 million. Also this may sound rediculous to some but Dimitar Berbtov claimed to support Newcastle... Why not go for him? he have the money :D

What i would like to see happen. Obviously would like Owen to stay but keep him for another season will cost us £6m in wages and probably only sell him for £5m.

Player Postion	Cost	Outstanding
 50
Rozehnal	CD	2.7	47.3
Geremi	RB/MR	0	47.3
Beye	RB/CB	2	45.3
Sagna	RB	6	39.3
Drenthe	LB/LM	4	35.3
Baines	LB	5	30.3
Campbell	CD	1.5	28.8
Huntelaar	FC	14	14.8
Owen	FC	-9	23.8
VD Vaart	AMC	8	15.8
Babel	AML/FC	8	7.8
Babayaro	DL	-1	8.8
Carr	DC	-1.5	10.3
Dyer	AMC	-8	18.3

That leaves £18.3m for January changes and youth investment. With these signings we will be well covered in all postions.
I like Dyer but there is much more reilable players out Van Der Vaart ideal replacement. Carr and Babayaro have to go, championship players.

Given the way Sam wants to run things I wouldn't be at all surprised if a fair chunk of this years cash went on back room staff instead of players.

50M though?! Let's say we get Beye and Geremi for a combined total of 2 or 3 million.....we still need a left-back and another centre-back BUT I don't quite see where we need big money players, really. I'd rather B.S just used his expertise to get the very best out of less costly players and to get the team/squad fit and firing. We are going to have to ask some players to be patient next season, even as things are. Especially if Sam chooses to play 4-3-3 for some games. Nzogbia, Milner, Dyer etc will have to be patient to sit on the bench for some games.
If we really are going to spend big, maybe it should be on classy young players as Man Utd have just done?
Anyway, it'll be exciting to see what happens.
By the way, I'd be prepared to pay 3 million for Sol Campbell. With a strong fitness programme he could be good for another 3 years and woiuld be well worth it!

Just a clarification - while some may argue with whether it's 50M or something less - let's be clear that Sam has a lot of money to invest and with the 3 players he has so far brought in it has cost us a net of 1.6M - since we got 7M for Parker.
If he can get 3 good players in for 1.8M what can he bring in with 50M or 40M?
