Not the end of the world, he could have been a good prospect but there are plenty more BIGGER and BETTER fish in the sea. I'm not too sure if well get Gudjohnsen but I feel he'd add some definate class. Whoever we do or don't get, we are heading in the right direction and for the first time since wor Bobby i'm actually looking forward in anticipation to the new season. I really think Parker had a negative effect on the midfield, and we will see a real difference with Barton and Emre as a partnership. Who knows perhaps Sam has Edmilson in mind to play in centre midfield with Barton? I know Edmilson can play defensive midfield so it might be worth trying him, he's very good on the ball and has always looked quick and athletic. In my opinion he's an average, ageing premiership player who should play for an average team (eg villa, boro ect) and not for a team challenging for the top 4. Fair enough if he's just a squad player who maybe starts 5 games in the season and comes off the bench for 10 more or so, but he's doing this at Chelsea. One would imagine he's moving to Newcastle for FIRST TEAM FOOTBALL-if he gets it we're in trouble. Sam should use some of the cash to sign real quality players-like gudjohnesn and defenders (2xCB,2xLB,1xRB). I'm not so sure about Edmilson, especially on the reported wage(though ashley can afford it!!!). Brazil don't often produce real quality CBs, and he's not Barcelona's first choice CB.
