Andy T..

Spot on mate, some people think it is just a case of handing over 10-20 mil to get a great player in, they don't realise that the player wouldn't come here due to no Europe/success/weather/too far from London.

CM has got a lot to answer for.

I think now is not the time for the 10M-20M signings. Sam has not had a chance yet to work with the existing squad to fully asses their strengths and weaknesses. There's some obvious areas such as the defence and right now Sam is bringing in enough good players at good prices to make sure we can have a sound squad that should be able to push for top 6. Sam has to contend with the relative un-attractiveness of Newcastle as nothing more than a premiership side. Sure there's some reputation still associated with the name, but less than we'd like to imagine and with no European football this year why would a 10M rated player want to come here when there are about 20 other teams across Europe that he could play for that can offer a better standard of football next season. I would much prefer that Sam spent the next few weeks making sure we have a squad of players that know they need to prove they are worthy of a starting spot on a weekly basis and keep the kitty in reserve for January. If we are challenging for a European spot towards Christmas then we will be in a much better position to attract elite players.

I Think BSA has it all to do, but if he can get players like Luque and N'Zogbia playing to their full ability, we can challendge anyone.

HOWAY THE LADS!!

Sir Bobby Robson should NEVER have been sacked . His wealth of knowledge would have stood us in good stead but that is in the past . However his presence in the club would have added a stature rare in Football clubs these days . I think BSA knows what he is doing and I agree totally that he needs time to move the club forward . Hopefully in big steps . So spend wisely and success will surely come . I do however expect top 6 this season and UEFA football at least next year . No Pressure then !!

the sights for this season, ashley or no ashley, should be uefa cup qualification - and more importantly, stability. if sam can achieve that this season it will be a success. next season we can splash the cash on a solid bedrock.

as most toon supporters i'm weary of big name signings and as stephen above i have tons more confidence in the signing of rozehnal than 8m boumsong.

besides, joey barton is a huge signing of a star player... it's just he was cheap.

I think Big Sam should buy cheap players.I trust him a 100 percent like people can talk about this is not Bolton we should aim higher for more top class players for like 10 million to 15 million well we did that before and look what it got us no where example Boumsong 8 million and we bought that Czech fela for 2.9 million who woud u prefer???It doesnt matter about the price because we all know Big Sam is trying to bring abit of stability to the club you look at Darren Bent for 16 million leave spurs go buy him because he aint worth that i bet Big Sam would get a player of his quailty for half that price. Also i wouldnt worry about the Bolton staff there are clas in terms of fintness and will help the injuries thay had not many injuries last season.

Big Sam will build a great team he justs need abit of time as he said before it takes time look at Arsena Wenger he got the time and he has builded a very good team there. If we keep sacking managers we will never be succesful.

About the transfers again who ever he brings in even a poor player we think he is i bet he will turn him into a very good player for the first time since Sir bobby Robson i think we could go places

My only concern at the moment is 1/3 of Bolton staff and a bunch of reasonably cheap albeit good players, has SA set his sights high enough?

Surely we should be looking to add a couple of £10 million + young world class players especially with the supposed transfer kitty Ashley is providing.
