i cant believe how many people on this site do not include solano when choosing their 16 players.

he was one of our best performers last season both at right mid and right back.

he is by a mile the most talented footballer at the club and a complete adapted geordie. It will be his last season next season and will want to go out with a bang.

I rate the geremi signing but might even go as far as to say that I would prefer nobby at right back than him. I see him more as a defensive midfielder.

Thanks

Oh, and by the way IMO Roeder has shown his true colours by having a dig at Allardyce. Its a pity he didnt show a bit more backbone when he was manager!
I remember when Souness got the chop and Roeder stepped up from the accademy he was adamant he didnt want the job. Fair do's he had a good run and still he said he didnt want it. Then suddenly he takes the job, a huge u-turn and one I bet he regrets.
Our only salvation is wwe didnt go the same way as West Ham and Watford under his guidance. Great player - poor manager.

Emanuelson from Ajax would be a cracking signing for left back, dont know much about Beye to be honest.
In fact I cant understand why top clubs havent raided Ajax for Emanuelson, Heitinga, Babel, Sneijder or Huntelaar. All 5 of them would get in most squads in the Prem!

given
geremi, taylor(c), rozehnal, babayaro
milner, butt, barton, n'zogbia
owen, viduka

subs: harper, ramage, dyer, luque, martins

dyer can play as DM and n'zogbia deserves more chances...
but still...hope we get beye to play instead of geremi as RB and sbd. to play instead of babayaro (bridge, baines, shorey, drenthe)

Team to start new season (so far):
In my opinion:

                           Given
Geremi Taylor Rozehnal Babayaro
                            Butt
          Milner Barton
                            Dyer
                  Owen Viduka

Subs: Harper Carr Solano Emre Martins

Thia is with Duff Injured, of course Taylor may not be 100% either. This is the team Id put out, attacking but with Butt behind Milner and Barton theres that extra bit of cover.
You have power and (hopefully) pace up front with Dyer supporting. I like the look of it, and if things arent going to plan we have a quality bench and thats without N'Zogbia, Duff, Ameobi, Ramage, Huntingdon etc.

Its no wonder Pattison wants to leave coz I personally cant see him getting a sniff of league action.

Of course there are more signings to be made and this can only be a good thing.
The only positions that look weak are left back, we have no quality cover at center back and defensive midfield. Butt is the obvious choice so we need someone to challenge him. Geremi could also play here meaning Carr could play at right back if needs be.

Its looking reall good so far. Any other ideas?

Will everyone please stop kissing Nicky's Butt...damn the guy has one fairly decent season where he manages to clamp more people than usual and suddenly he's better than Parker? Don't get me wrong i'm glad he has moved on but i'll be sweating until the first day of the season in the hope that he wont get a game

The only problem with bringing in Appiah, as with all other African international players is the fact that you need to bring in a player of equivalent stature because you are going to loose them for 6 weeks of every season.

im glad ive brought up a good topic. i think appiah is pure class, nightfall i agree, young ghanians will see him as their idol so they will want to come and play with him. but i disagrre with your diarra view, our midfield needs height and lassana would be another emre, they are both too short. bring in alou diarra 6ft3 and appiah 5ft10

get diarra as butt's succesor and then swap emre for ghana's captain stephen appiah in a part exchange with fenerbache. appiah wants to leave and they are intrested in emre, who i feel is too short for Sam's team. Views?

Seems like Sam is good at negotiating - he probably needs three seasons to get a really good team together so he's asking for 5 :). Hopefully in 5 years time we are at the same stage as Man U or Chelsea, where the manager needs only to sign 3-5 highly talented youngsters per season, assess those with the academy players coming through and ship out the ones that don't work the next season. Roeder's plan of not buying older players is the right one to have - once you are successful, you need them to become successful.

Being a Manager in the Premiership is by no means an easy job a hansome salary yes but it comes with the teritory. I'ts all about Pressure from the fans and results and the performance of the players on the day of the game. But i not being the only one long for success on Tyneside and this won't happen in one season. The Manager needs time to build a team over a couple of seasons who understand each others game replacing the Manager every season is not the answer and not the way forward. Sam needs 3 seasons at least depending on overall performances to turn things around, then decide on a new manager Because farmers don't rotate their crops as much as we change our staff. GOOD LUCK SAM YOUR GONNA NEED IT!
