Major Newcastle News Stories – July 6th – 2007

Here are the major news stories associated with the Newcastle club for today – in no particular order of priority.

The major news story link us with Frank Queudrue – the former Middlesbrough left-back and again with Eidur Gudjohnsen.

We have also brought back the funny football quotes – by popular demand – after a one day absence.

  • More and more news in the press that we are being linked with former Middlesbrough left back Franck Queudrue. Looks like Franck would be very willing to move back to the North East and play for Newcastle. He is at odds with new Fulham manager Lawrie Sanchez and the reports suggest his wife is unsettled in London. This could happen but also expect another left back – like Nicky Shorey to be brought in also.

  • We think it’s time that Phil Gartside stop conducting war in the press with Sam Allardyce. Some of his latest comments come across as very childish and we think it’s about time that Phil moved on. It’s really not doing him any good to look so petulant in the press.

  • We are again being linked with Eidur Gudjohnsen – this time by his father and agent Arnor Gudjohnsen. His father is obviously trying to increase the interest of the Newcastle club by saying that his son loved playing for Big Sam at Bolton and looks up to him. Not sure what’s going to happen with this one – but it certainly looks like the Gudjohnsens are warming up to Newcastle – so to speak.

  • Here’s some funny (or even stupid) football quotes for today – we think these are some classics. This is to lighten up the day 😀

“The Derby players have seen more of his balls than the one they’re meant to be playing with” – Brian Clough on a streaker at a Derby – Manchester United match

“Right now, everything is going wrong for me – if I fell into a barrel of boobs, I’d come out sucking my thumb!” – Ian Holloway ex-QPR boss – now manager of Plymouth

“They’re the second best team in the world, and there’s no higher praise than that.” – Kevin Keegan

“Not many teams will come to Arsenal and get anything, home or away.” Kevin Keegan

Why 10 million. Just pay the asking price which is 8 million. There is no point putting more money in then what is needed.

I never realized Kevin Keegan made so many silly (daft) statements – got a ton of them lined up.

If we are to play 442 what do you reckon the team would be if the season kicked off tomorrow and everyone is fit.

    Obviously Given

My defence would probably be Solano, Taylor, Rozenthal and Geremi (not sure if Solano would be left or right back)

Up front I’d go Viduka & Owen

Its the middle of the park that is a tough one, Duff & Milner wide leaves Butt, Emre, Dyer & Barton for the two spots. I don’t like Dyer in the middle, he seems too lightweight.

Sod it, I’d go Dyer right back I think.

    Not easy is it.

We need another CB or two, a LB – and I’d take a GREAT CM if we could get one.

We aren’t that far away from a good team really when you look at it.
