Roeder I think benefitted from a dressing room that sighed with huge relief when souness made for the exit. Thus the team bounced back from a bad run as Mr Nice Guy was appreciated by the players, and it was a team with some ability stifled by a manager with no man management skills and limited tactical knowledge.
But unfortunately a veneer of skillful management was quickly revealed to be just that, a veneer, as we entered the next season.
Yes we struggled with injuries, but when players were becoming fit, tactical decisions and man management skills were revealed to be lacking.
The defeats in the EUFA Cup, and FA Cup were due to bad tactics. Roeder showed no ability to exploit the weaknesses of an oponent, or defend against there strengths. Remember this at the end of the season, almost the entire game being played through Milner???? I am sorry but that is an opposing managers dream come true, like running against a one legged man. Also one of the worst defeats in the premiership when Fullam couldn't score for toffee and were on a terrible run what happened??? I am sure we all remember.
I do hope roeder does return to the Premiership this season and before the start, as we could pretty much garuantee all 6 points, and it would be nice to meet in the FA cup and beat his team 5-1.
Glad he is gone, soooo glad.
Nothing personal against the guy, I am sure he makes a great Dad.
