No problem Ed… we really need a signing soon tho, to ease Sam, the players and the supporters. And i agree that if we are going after players that are proven in EPL, then we should get that LB in. There are plenty in EPL who could become available and who would make us allot better. Centre halves would be harder, i cant really think of anyone who is good enough or available.

valle – i hadn’t seen that quote – it’s a god one – thanks. So he’s after proven players that he knows can handle the Premiership. Sam is also very knowledgeable on lots of players – we shouldn’t underestimate what he’s got cooking on the transfer front. Certainly he’s a go getter and just a little frustrated with things now – but hey – that’s OK – shows he’s very determined.

Arthur – not at all – we think Shorey and Baines are both good and English – which helps. We would probably go for Shorey – but not both of them. No doubt we need an orthodox LB.

t-g-w – Sam did say he wasn’t after the Galactigos – which I think he was referring to Cannavano and Ronaldinho – but not specifically Barzagli. Also think Sam’s target are more secretive than we realized – looks like a lot of the targets were made up by the press.
Interesting to see if he likes Curtis Davies – Nigel Pearson of course was with him at WBA. We’ll probably do a few transfer updates – once we better understand who Sam is after – although that’s proving to be difficult right now

I think we are getting mixed messages from the board and the manager…………Mort said only last week there was funds available for Sam….now sam is saying we are missing out and things are slow because of the takeover….so which one is it?Is there funds for sam or is sam taking too long to attract the players?

It will be hard to tempt top class players to NUFC this season as we have no European football, but one defender this club could attract is CURTIS DAVIES how long before we make a bid or do we just wait to see him playing for Spurs. Come on SAM get your hand in your pocket!

I have just looked at the 07/08 Squad numbers /players . So far it looks a very telented group of players at all ages . A few more class signings and it looks like BSA has enough at his disposal to provide a real threat to top 4 and europe qualification . If he can work his man management skills to the underperformers and get their motivation right ie Luque , NZogbia it will be like having 2 new signings .BSA does need a big squad though to contend with injuries (inevitable ) all the cups and the ability to keep a fresh squad in the latter part of the season when a good push confirms the top positions . Coupled with time to seek and recruit really top players when the Furore of this current transfer window settles down .

But whilst acknowledging an interest in the Italy international, Allardyce concedes he initially needs players with Premier League experience.

“Overall this is a talented squad, but we must find some big, strong, experienced, quality defenders, preferably ones who have played in this country,” said Allardyce.

“Barzagli is a very good player, but first and foremost I need one or two who know what English football’s all about.”

Well I think there are players out there that Sam can sign. But the stumbling block is that he wants players with PL experience now that is going to cost him much more. Further, that would also reduce the chances of him getting anyone. Why not take a couple of the players from the Academy I am sure there are a number who are ready to go. What about Asia and Latin America good signings are possible.

Ed do you know any more about this Barzagli? Sounds like quite a player. I know Sam wants Premiership experience but surely a move for Barzagli can’t go wrong? Reports suggest today that Sam has ruled him out but I don’t belive that as Sam has not mentioned Barzagli’s name directly…

Sam needs to be allowed to bring in his new proposed signings NOW. We dont need repetitions of yesteryear when panic buys were brought in at the last minute at inflated prices. The way things are going, we will have to buy whats left. It doesnt look like a big name signing is coming in either. Since Sam arrived we have all enjoyed the momentum of the club going forward, lets not stop now like we have done in the past and restore the glory days once again
