Don’t you just love all this speculation about new signings?….it’s like playing poker…..noone really knows what’s going on but you keep hoping for that big hand!…… I certainly think we have a realistic chance of signing the likes of Shorey but some of the names mentioned tonight are merely pipedreams when we are faced with a lack of european footie. I too would love to see Riquelme but I thought he had returned to Argentina (River Plate or Boca Juniors?) and some of the other ‘names’ are destined for Champions League clubs not the Toon. If we can get a good LB, RB and centre half then we’ll give it a real go this year but if we don’t then we’ll finish outside the top 6 again!I’m sure our new owner appreciates that, so let’s see him splash the cash or we’ll have another mediocre season.

What’s the view on selling Dyer??

Why not email Newcastle and ask for a job as chief scout?

Most of the names mentioned are obviously good signings – trouble is most of them obviously wouldn’t come here.

You are talking about real life people, they have to agree to up sticks and move them and their families here, it is not like a pc game, just let SA get on with it – his signings so far seem decent and with six weeks left of the transfer window we have plenty time yet to bring in players.

I too could name a nice squad I’d like to see Newcastle start the season with – trouble is George Best is dead & Pele is too busy selling hard-on tablets.

i agree hopefully funds made available,barzagli would be excellent signing,who cannavaro rates as the next big italian defender which says alot.unfortunately sam doesnt seem too keen as he said he wants experienced premiership players,but look what carvalho done for chelsea,vidic for man utd.would like to buy some young talent like shorey or baines or curtis davies who wants to leave west brom.we have potential there just need a few more good signings,not just free or cheap.time to splash out and buy big names and big game players and the best of the youth like spurs are doing,gareth bale for example.fans need to give time for team to build this season and gel together,not to expect too much.i think barton should be made captain and will become a hero at the toon,he will give everything.exiting times ahead hopefully,one thing for sure we will be a harder team to beat,get rid of carr and babyaro

sam will get his targets even tho we aren’t in europe bcause of whats happening at the club at the min very exciting times. Mr Ashley must of knew what kind of price barca would ask 4 to sell ronaldinho shoes he’s ready to spend big. Sam will get his targets and we have a new signing in luque watch him produce hi la liga form under big sam suxch a motivator he is and having owen bk wanting to be skipper can only be great for the club as he is englands no 1 striker. Alls i can say is i would hate to be a makem or a smoggy at the min struggling to fill stadiums and watching the toon now turn into the european powerehouse its always promised to be !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Some good suggestions there for defenders, I would take any of Barca’s outcasts especially Marquez but Sam has said he wants 3 defenders with prem experience.

Not sure about Dunne, hes a good player but…. He played along side Dystin (who everyone rates), richards (future perenial England defender) and Ball (better than Babs) and their defence was worse than ours! If we’re going back to City I’d be after Micah.

Finnan is quality, very underrated and no way Rafa is letting him leave.

So 3 from the prem, any guesses/suggestions?

be realistic…
we should swap emre for appiah
buy colloccini for 4 mio…he’s a strong, tall, experienced defender…and cheap
buy LB (baines, shorey, riise)
buy fanni
and another CB (c.davies, alex, heitinga, berzagli, de jong,…)
and if we really are planning to buy another AM/FC i’d go after mutu (serie A player of the year with premiership experiences)…

AARON D – Good names mentioned there, those are the types of players I would go after if I were Big Sam. I still can’t believe that we didn’t sign Javier Saviola for free a year ago when we had our striker crisis. Letting that one slip through our fingers, to me is extremely bad business. I just hope that with Big Sam as our boss those mistakes never occur again! Shame about Raul Bravo though he could have improved our defence also. Get Shorey in before it’s too late! Get rid of Babayaro and Carr pleeeease- They Suck!
