I wonder at which position Dyer will play. Right or centre midfield? I think Barton will take the centre attacking midfield and Dyer could be the first choice as a right winger for Sam. Just see last match against Hartlepool, in which Dyer played as a right winger. And when Barton is not in the field, Dyer can play as a centre midfield which he himself prefers, and Milner will take the right winger. I am worried about emre’s future at Newcastle. Sam will not use him as a defensive midfield and Emre will the third choice for the attacking midfield in Sam’mind. Anyway, when all the players are back,including Emre, and the new boys are brought to St’James Park, we can see who is fit enough for the regular team.

Jeff – 12th would be a total failure m8.
Any Uefa place will do me.
I do think top 4 is beyond us at mo, but it doesn’t hurt to dream.
Dyer owes this club big style, and that means a FULL season flat out. On the pitch not in his sick bed!. Trouble is I just dont think its in him IMO
This is defo his last chance to show what he has or not, and I’m sure he knows it.

I agree with Jeff – don’t know why he’s still there but let’s get the best of him. We give too little attention to sicknotes when we acquire players and when we realise we’ve got one, we should be getting them fit and shipping them out – you can’t win things with a playing staff that can’t take a few knocks and are out constantly. I believe Dyer and Owen should be on their last chance. Owen especially needs 2-3 games back after each knock before he fires again and we just can’t afford to carry people – that’s been the case throughout his career.

I think spurs will be strong but i think we will be better if Sam sorts the defence and has all our other current players playin wel, plua im not expecting 4th dont get me wrong ive learnt from all the stress headaches over the last few years im just sayin with the players we already have and the defence we are promised its definatly possible.

Yes, Dyer needs a full season of good performances and man do I hope he gets one. As for fourth…I think you’re setting yourself up (Toon styleeee) for another disappointment. Automatic UEFA would be gobsmackingly good, Intertoto would do, I’d settle for consistant top half throughout the season truth be told. We have to remember that there are a lot of other prem clubs building as we are. Most notably Spurs and Toffees. The toffees will drop off this season I reckon. The bench-mark has to be Spurs don’t you think?

Cockney Magpie – just seen your post and have been looking at Sky Sports News and on the SSN Website but not even a hint of the OBA REJECTS ARSENAL story….presume they dont think it’s a big enough story!
Personally I think it’s great!! EMO and OBA up front with VID in support (and even STROLLA if he keeps bangin’ them in) would be an ace front line up! But as everyone’s said….get some more bloody defenders in!!!!

I agree Dan,the season hasnt started yet..Like Allardyce says we need to lower expectations so to me anything below 12th is a very poor season,as long as we improve on last season and actually start being able to play well and try in every game then we should do ok…anything else is a bonus this season….Im hoping we can maybe get in top 7 anything else is a fantastic bonus like I say.

I wish everybody would stop talking about where we are gonna finish this season! as long as we steadily and noticeably improve each year, it doesn’t matter – we’ll get there in the end!

Dyer needs an excellent season, i think he’s definately capable of lifting the team and getting us back where we belong. I personally think his confidence can be a little fragile…so lets stick with him throughout the season and let sam be the judge.

To be honest I dont know how Dyer is still at the club,but he is and we must get behind him.But and its a big BUT,he needs to perform this season.He owes Newcastle as a club and he owes us the fans big style…….No more huffs,no more tantrums….get your finger out your arse and get performing mr dyer

F&*^%&^ng YEAH!!!!!!!! Champions League here we come!!!!!
BUT, and a big BUT, ONLY if we sign the 3 big, strong, tall, imposing defenders we need across our back line. Liverpool and Citeh are going for Chienllini, who’s a massive left back. I’d have him. Or possibly it could lead to us getting Riise, who’s class especially with his cannon left foot!

Also just read that Owen has come out and said he wants to be the captain! so at least we definatly know he is not planning on going anywhere and with Oba rejecting Arsenal its been good news all around from our strike force!

This season, I dont mind where Newcastle finish aslong as they dont get relegated ofcourse

Its next season where Sam’s magic will start to take affect and he should have his own squad by then

Regarding Dyer, If he can perform cosnistently for the season he’ll probably be Newcastle’s best player, lets wait and see.
