I have watched Hangeland play several times (as I live in Copenhagen). He is strong in the air and fairly decent at commanding the line, but I still have my doubts whether or not he has the required qualities to be more than a back-up player at Newcastle. I would look elsewhere if I was BSA.. (depending on what you are looking for)

buy Hangeland, Baines (as a must, this guy will be Englands next left back) he will be class for next 10 years also Baptista does look a good player and as saha did loaned in for a season and look how he turned out at fulham, he was scoring for fun and Baptista looks alot better. we still should look at bids for Gonzalo Rodriguez (Villerreal) and Micah Richards (Man City)

we are also linked with baptista today, it also seems true because there are quotes from the player. http://www.sundaymirror.co.uk/news/sunday/tm_method=full%26objectid=19494560%26siteid=98487-name_page.html

He says we are a big club and would consider if he becomes surplus to requirements. it would be great if we signed him for 6m and played him in midfield whilst barton is out. Also we could get Gudjohnsen as an alternative and play him in midfield. Ed you should maybe do an article on this ;)

So Sam needs to buy one of them and 3/4 defenders.

Hopefully we match the luke young bid unless he has someone else lined up.
Hangeland sounds good.
Curtis Davies, worth a 6m bid
Baines, don't let him go to the mackems, he is class.

Apparently Allardyce wasn't after Fanni so I wouldn't worry too much. SA said he wanted players with Premiership experience first and foremost, but if he is going after another player from Europe, he should go after Barzagli - it seems too good an opportunity to turn down.

1 last thing - apparently the 7 million was for Heinze (as reported yesterday).

Brede Hangeland has suddenly grown to become a real class defender. Nothing wrong with Brede, when he played in Norway, but the dansih league is a better league and he has really growned as both a player and as a person.
For the last couple of games for Norway, he has been the best player, and his apperance has been 10 times better than players like Riise, Carew and Gamst Pedersen.

2,7 million for the best defender from Norway (at the time) is a small fee to pay. I`m 100% sure he allready is a better defender than for instance Henning Berg (manu-blackburn). He remindes me alot about young Steven Taylor. You can actually se he`s heart outside of the shirt, and he is the kind of guy you really want to have by you side when the is a battle to win....

Howie - agreed - every one in the squad cannot be starters but Hangeland looks good - and cut out for the Premiership - a typical Sam player and as we say good value for money.

Sounds like a a player big Sam would go for and after seeing Carlisle's goal ysterday we certainly need some height in defence and if he can play def mid at least if Butt got injured he could play there.
