Newcastle Pursue Targets Hangeland and Bosingwa

Even though Sam Allardyce recently denied he is after Brede Hangeland from Copenhagen we’re not sure Sam would ever verify who’s he’s after because it would potentially draw in other clubs.

Hangeland’s price is now being quoted at around ₤4M but we think that is too high for a player who has no premiership experience – and a more realistic fee would be around ₤2.5 – ₤3M.

The other player that is being touted for Newcastle is full back Jose Bosingwa of Porto who has played for Portugal a couple of times.

Jose Bosingwa

It is known that Aston Villa – who have made few moves in the transfer market so far – are also  after both players so Sam has to move in quickly if he really wants them.

Hangeland is 6’4” so he fits the build Sam wants but doesn’t really have the experience and a few of our readers have said he is a bit slow (unlike Rozehnal). He has played for Norway 33 times. If Hangeland is indeed a target we have been linked with him for several weeks so we’re not sure why it takes this long to get a player like Brede into Newcastle – what’s the hold-up?

Porto’s right back Jose Bosingwa is also said to be a target although Aston Villa were strongly linked with the player over the last week. He is said to be rated at around ₤3M.

José Bosingwa da Silva (born August 24, 1982 in Kinshasa, DR Congo) previously played for Boavista FC, Porto’s local rivals. He has played for Porto 79 times since 2003, scored 2 goals and stands 6’0” tall.

You bring up a very valid point, we have been linked with Hangeland for at least 2 weeks now, if Allardyce is really after bringing him to Newcastle why is it taking so long? I’d guess its because Allardyce has been trying to secure other (better) signings and Hangeland is way down the list.
As Sam has stated this week, he is struggling to get the players he wants to come, mainly due to our lack of European football, so maybe now he has tried his top options he has to settle for ‘plan B’ which will mean brining in players that are not the best but are better than nothing.

Greg B – good point – that could be it – Sam said he is moving to other targets. Also we see Cicinho wants to leave Madrid – he would be very good – right back.

I Like the look of Jose Bosingwa but if Cicinho is avaliable GET HIM, i rate him alot.
But it is getting to the point where we just need to make a whole bunch of signings, i saw that arsenal are after diarra from chelsea he is a holding DM we need someone like that especially with all the injurys and like Given said in News we are smaller than we have been in years i think we need at least 6 KEY PLAYERS.
    Like:
    Cicinho -RB
    Bridge or Shorey – LB
    Sol Cambel – CB
    SWP – Winger
Baptista – AM (to replace Dyer)

and then we need a further 4 Back Up Players: like
    Hangeland- – CB
    Jose Bosingwa – RB

ok to start with i am pleased we are again been linked with a few names…
But AND IT’S A BIG BUT.. i thought the reason why are transfer activity had slowed up was because we wanted defenders with premiership experience, it’s worrying if thats not the case and we ars just failing to attract players. I have still got faith in big sam to deliver the goods though.

Hangeland will play champions league football with FC Kopenhagen on tuesday, so it will be a difficult time for the danish team to loose Hangeland, and the club is the richest in scandinavien so may be more expensive than Newcastle would like. 4m will proberly be the price Kopenhagen want. As i said before i dont think Hangeland is good enough if Newcastle wants to progressed.

I don’t have it for that Hangeland guy. But that’s oure because I keep the Scandinavian football style in my thoughts. Don’t like those slow, big defenders from the north. They are strong but that’s that. No good football skills to build up from behind, only using the long ball and I think this will not go together with the football qualities of our midfield (Barton, Emre, Milner, Solano, …)

Prefer Cicinho above Bosingwa, but nothing more to say about it, because I think we have wasted time on Shorey, Young and Baines. Perhaps Shorey will still come but it must have been done quite a time ago.

    GO FOR BIG SOL.

Obafan – maybe Shorey was the 7M player that turned us down (?).

Josh – Bridge is out for months with his hip injury so we will not be signing him.
Sol Campbell would be a fantastic singing for us – we should get his Geordie girlfriend talking him into coming up to the north-east. Under Sam he could play for a good 3-4 additional years and be fitter than he’s ever been. In fact the more we think about it – his girlfriend is the way to get to him – what’s Sam’s cell phone number?
    😀

Obafan – agree with you that we should stay clear of Hangeland (as stated by myself and EVERY person who have seen him in action..) Too slow and simply not good enough with the ball at his feet..

Would love for Cicinho to come to NUFC.. however, despite being a true believer in the NUFC cause – I must admit that I doubt him joining us..

4m for Hangeland is a low estimate. To explain how rich FC Copenhagen is they have a ballance of about 300 million £. They made 15 m on their participation in the CL. They buy players for 2-3 m from other clubs which is very high i Scandinavia. They would never sell their best defender for less then 4. I believe that he will cost 5-6m and only after they have ended the CL qualification.

I cant believe people think 4mil for Hangeland is high because he has ‘no premierhsip experience’, to that i say; balls! Hangeland is a very good defender and you should not doubt him if he has not yet played in the premiership he has the attributes that will make it easy for him to adapt to the premiership, strength, marking ability, tackling abaility and a good head for clearances and set pieces.

As a dane and FCK supporter I know a little bit about Hangeland. He´s been playing great for some time. When he first arrived in Denmark he was lacking some techical skill, but he´s improved greatly.
But I think NUFC should go after his partner in CD and buy Michael Gravgaard. Who is a better tackler, faster and better allround. Gravgaard is lethal in the air and have scored many goals. I FCK does kill off Benfica and enter the CL both Hangeland and Gravgaard will be available.
