The Evening Chronicle is reporting that Newcastle are after 22-year-old Paris St Germain left back Boukary Drame – who is regarded as one of the best young defenders in France.
However, both Sochaux and Nice are also in for the Senegalese international so there is competition for the youngster.
Let’s take a look at both the story and Drame the player.
Boukary Drame
United had apparently invited Drame to Newcastle this week, but apparently this alerted Sochaux, and it is now uncertain if Boukary will visit the club.
Drame is reported to be so good that France tried to get him registered to play for them, but they have been turned down by FIFA because Boukary had already played three games for Senegal. One thing in our favor is that Drame is a big pal of David Rozehnal as well as the two having played together at PSG last season – so that’s a positive for us.
We probably need to get David on his cell phone to start persuading young Drame to come to Newcastle.
Drame has been keen to play in England, and his agent Said Rubie said:
“Boukary did very well at PSG last year, but wants to test himself at the highest level possible and believes the Premier League is the place to be.”
“He has fantastic potential and his game is ideally suited to the demands of the Premier League.â€
This sounds to us like it would be a good signing – a young player who can only get better. He will however not have the experience Sam had wanted in the back four. Boukary as we mentioned is a big pal of our future star David Rozehnal while both were at PSG. We trust David knows Drame’s cell phone number and is in phase 3 of his talk to persuade the young Senegalese defender to come to Newcastle 😀
Here is some playing information on the youngster.
Drame was born on 22nd July, 1985 so he has only just turned 22 years old a week ago. He was born in Villepinte, France and joined PSG in 2001 when he was 15 years old. He has played 24 times for PSG with 20 of those appearances coming last season. He has also represented Senegal three times and stands 5’11” tall.
Comments very welcome.

Comment #41I feel a bit sorry for BSA……IT’S NOT WHAT THE BROCHURE SAID springs to mind, he’s got a wafer thin squad which if everyone stays fit is probably a top half outfit, however a few injuries to key men and we will struggle, especially when you look at who else has been recruiting this summer…….there will be no easy games.
Morty and Ashley would be wise to speculate to accumulate, BSA is a shrewd guy and he won’t waste their dosh…….. January is a long way off and we only have a few weeks left, come on guys back Big Sam!!!!!

Comment #42will the press EVER give up?
look at these two stories:
http://blogs.orlandosentinel.com/sports_soccerblog/2007/07/report-newcastl.html
This guy is reprting that we have told Oba we dont want him and we need the money from his transfer…… OMG, can reporters get any more lazier?
And ever worse check this one:
http://www.tribalfootball.com/article.php?id=49787
Says Mike Ashley wants to sell us already, says that Chris Mort will not relocate to the north east further evidence they are looking to jump ship already….
ED CASE – any clarification on this?? luckily enough the Martins story is by the Orlando Sentinel who has pretty much written complete crap about everyone, nothing hes said has ever came true and the second is Tribal football which again isnt very credible, but its still a bit worrying for the average toon fan.

Comment #44Please take a look at our comments policy. The comments are getting a bit too raucous in terms of bad language and we cannot always catch them before they are submitted. Please try to make your points with decent language.
