News today that we may be signing Alan Smith from Manchester United - reported via the Manchester Evening news. Not exactly what we need but Alan is a good player and it looks like Dyer is being moved on.
The problem Kieron may have is whether any club will be willing to pay him ₤80K/week in wages plus the ₤5M transfer fee Newcastle is demanding - for a player who has been injured so much and whose form has never been consistent.
He may soon find out he is so much better off at Newcastle than he thought. Oh, we almost forgot - there’s always West Ham
Let’s look at what’s happening today with Newcastle United Football Club.

- News today in the Manchester Evening news that Smith is meeting with Allardcye today to discuss personal terms. Four clubs are after Smith with Middlesbrough and Everton being two of them. We don’t really need Smith right now but he’s a good player who can play in midfield and as a striker - so he’s flexible wherever Sam wants to play him. However, we’d think another striker is the last player we need right now.

Alan Smith - will Sam play him in midfield?
- If Sam Allardcye has really been restricted to just ₤10M in transfer funds we take a long hard look at the situation and come up with a solution - albeit unpopular but in any case pragmatic. If you take a look at the strikers we have and include Luque and Carroll we have six good strikers and one is expendable. Which one? To get the maximum money to fund defensive transfers it has to be Oba Martins. So we suggest this as a possible solution to Sam’s dilemma and we don’t expect it to be well recieved. But it is a solution - but only if Sam can sell Martins quickly. Any other solutions are requested - assuming no more transfer money will come from Ashley - which we still find hard to understand.

Oba Martins - sacrificed to fund defensive reinforcements?
- OK - news from Sam saying it is not true that he will have to sell Oba to generate sufficient funds to buy defenders. In our report we suggested it was a way to generate funds if he didn’t have any - so one way to interpret this is that he will get adequate funds - that’s good.
At the same time Sam has come out with the statement of denial - unfortunately Alan Oliver says he can now reveal that it is indeed true that Sam will have to sell Oba to generate funds for transfers. Bad timing Alan.
By the way we don’t like the bit at the botom of the report about Fulham being in talks with Charles N’Zogbia - surely we are not going to sell one of our brightest prospects for the future?

Sam Allardcye
- To follow our story yesterday about four foreign full backs for Newcastle we follow it up today with five foreign center-backs for Newcastle. If we can just get at least one good left back and one good center-back the squad would be so much better and then we could always strengthen in January with Edmilson and others coming in. It’s not like our first 10 games are that difficult because we don’t meet any of the top four during that time. Take a look at the article - and let us know if there is anyone there we should get?

Fabricio Coloccini - Argentinian and Deportivo La Coruna Center-Back
- We have placed an article up trying to understand if the story of having just ₤10M in transfer funds is true and if it is - what’s going on? In short - when an English Billionaire buys a club you would expect funds to be made available to bring better players in. Also, it isn’t good business not to invest right now. Are we going to save money at the expense of finishing 12th next season? It just doesn’t make any sense to us at all. Take a read and let us know what you think - we just hope it isn’t true.

Chris Mort - new Newcastle Chairman - are sufficient funds available?
Other bits of transfer news:
- Sam Allardyce may be leading the chase for Bolton giant Abdoulaye Faye (Daily Mirror). Sammy Lee will apparently start a bidding war for contract rebel Faye after deciding to cash in on the Senegal international (The Sun). Midfielder turned defender Faye, 29, has been solid in his two seasons at Bolton and his performances have more than repaid the £750K Big Sam paid Lens for him. He’s could be worth between £3m and £4m. Let’s go get him.
- Surprising news that Fulham may be after our own Charles N’Zogbia who was our man of the match against Juventus. Let’s not sell Charles - he just has far too much potential to let go - keep him - he will find a way to be a first teamer this season.
- Finally here’s some funny football quotes - to lighten up the day

“A miracle to be here?, No, we just came by plane.” - Trinidad and Tobago Coach Leo Beenhakker when asked if it was a miracle that his team was at the World Cup.
Radio reporter: “The fans are right behind you, Jim.” Smith: “Well, let’s hope I can shake them off before we reach Watford.” - Then Birmingham and ex-Newcastle manager Jim Smith
“I’m no Brad Pitt, but there’s worse out there than me” - Gennaro Gattuso when asked about his looks.”

Gennaro Gattuso - getting a new hair do?
We always appreciate your comments on these stories.
Please keep your comments civil with decent language because we know we have lots of youngsters reading the site - and we want to keep it that way - thanks.

Ahh get rid of Nzog, its what we do isn’t it?? might aswell smoke them now instead of waiting until they help us win the league!

i’ve just been playing around with a few current starting line ups incase we dont sign anybody else. Just to mak me feel a little better about this pre-season and i dnt rele think things look as bad as everybody thinks. 1st game starting line up, Given- Carr, Taylor, Roz, Solano- Luque, N’Zog, Geremi, Milner, Martins, Owen. and then we still have Ramage, Huntingdon, Edgar, Emre, Butt, Troisi, Ameobi, Viduka, Carroll. Also i think we shouldnt write off Steve Carr just yet either after all he is a premiership expierienced right back and i believe Big Sam can bring the best out of him. But for me with that starting 11 there i would be pretty confident of beating Bolton on day 1. Then when we get Barton and Duff back we should be fine also i havent included Dyer in there because its looking very likely he wont be with us next season so there will most probably be a replacement for him too. So come on lads even if the board are being tighter than a ducks arse at the mo things aren’t as bad as they seem.
and i know your gonna say but thats more or less the same crap defence we had last year, which it may be but we dont have the same crap manager managing them ;).

how do you know how tight a ducks arse is

Also i like the look of all these younsters getting in the first team, Taylor Ramage, Edgar, Huntigdon, Troisi, Pattison, Carroll. Sort of reminds me of when Man Utd Bought through Beckham and pals.

GET RID OF ZOG…GET RID OF MARTINS… WHO WRITES THIS SH***
WE NEED PLAYERS IN NOT SELLING THEM TO OTHER CLUBS

The Smith story is guff. Why would a player that occasionally gets a game at manu come to a place where he’d be fith choice?
I like this site, tends to focus on what is said rather than speculation but the Smith story simply doesn’t need the oxygen right now.
8 will // Jul 31, 2007 at 15:44
Oh and Martins is going nowhere. I’d rather see the back of Allardyce quite frankly.

George how long have you followed Newcastle? We very rarely keep players which could help us, and i wouldnt be supprised if we announced that martins, nzog, taylor, dyer, and owen were all marching out the door tomorrow

15 Stami // Jul 31, 2007 at 15:53
think Smith would be a great replacement for Dyer. we know that he is a natural striker, but have seen him play a very solid midfield role at Man U just before his injury! he is a determined player who fights for the ball, and his striking ability would mean he could push forward too! 6m is fair, and if Dyer leaves then why not! i am confident in our young defenders, and with the likes of Rozenhal to lead them i think we will be just fine at the back! im not saying that a few more defenders are needed, im just saying that it probably would not be as bad as alot of people are making it out to be!
16 Steely // Jul 31, 2007 at 16:00
I see a story on Sky Sports just now where they quote Rozehnal as saying he is injured and will hopefully make the start of the season. HOPEFULLY make the start of the season….I could cry! Will be interesting to see who will play in defence against Hull and Sampdoria now that Rozehnal and Taylor are out injured!
On a different matter, does anyone else think that Troisi looks like a really exciting player? Obviously Carroll/Edgar/Pattison etc are all grabbing the headlines from the youth team, but I reckon he put in some good shows when he came against Juve and Celtic!
17 Keep Oba // Jul 31, 2007 at 16:10
I just read that Fulham is “close” to signing N’Zogbia…why are we being killed in the transfer window by Fulham, Man City, West Ham, Portsmouth…heck Sunderland is at least trying its hardest (just no one good wants to go there). I am trying to be patient that we havent bought anyone in a month, but it certainly isnt easy when half of our squad is in threat of being sold. I am just hoping to go into the season with the team we have now (with maybe a cheap…aka..warm body, defender or two) than risking losing Zog and Martins. As a Martins fan I have been on pins and needles all summer over his status and it would be a shame to make one side of the squad weaker just to sure up another half. By the way I don’t have a big problem selling Dyer since I have been already mentally prepared for that.
18 Josh // Jul 31, 2007 at 16:11
George, straight onto the defense, quite as effective as Marcellino!! I dont think you understood my comment, maybe it was too much for you? All the same I have to admit, I found it very hard to read your response!

Steely not too worried by that report as it seems he can get it sorted whilst still playing. i think the fitness comment is more about his match fitness as i saw him saying the other day in an interview that he felt he needed to get a bit fitter for the start of the season.
agree about troisi seems to have quite a level head on him as well as good skill will struggle to get in past solano/milner/geremi/dyer (if he stays) on the right tho.
21 george t // Jul 31, 2007 at 16:23

Just want to apologise again for bad language guys. Getting grief from cockneys at work, makes me MAD, can’t really swear at them as i’ll get fired.
Young kiddies, you shouldn’t use bad laguage mainly because it makes you sound uneducated and like an idiot. Try to offend people with sarcasm, wit and intelligence as it pee’s them off more. However, you can use bad language at Chelsea fans at Stamford Bridge because they’re……well…..rubbish fans!
23 Steely // Jul 31, 2007 at 16:29
Bosck, I suppose you’re right about Rozy - I think my nerves are just on edge with all that’s happening (or not happening!) at the club at the mo.
RE: Troisi, the way things are going, Milner may be on left this season, Dyer should be gone, and I dont think Solano is going to be able to play every game this season. I still dont think he will get a match in the Premiership (unless there are injuries), but I reckon we might see him feature in the cups hopefully?
24 Bosck // Jul 31, 2007 at 16:30
just seen the bbc website claiming fulham are after n’zogbia as well but again its just rubbish.
especially if the rumours of a low budget are true (which i’m not sure they are)why the hell would we sell a player with such massive potential as n’zogbia for £3m as has been quoted on bbc. I’m sorry but if richardson is worth £5m in my opinion zogs has got to be worth £7-8m at least.
25 chris // Jul 31, 2007 at 16:35
I would be willing to let Dyer go for his own personal reasons. But Martins and N Zogbia no way! These are exciting players to watch and £3m for Zog is just uncomprehendable. He’s worth twice that now and probably triple it in a couple of seasons. If we can’t keep these type of players then it’s obvious something is indeed wrong with the club.
I’ve supported this club for over 30 years now, and if I see us flirting with relegation again because of lack of funds, and letting our up and coming players leave, then I might have to turn my back on the club i love!
It’s becoming depressing seeing our great club being overtaken in the market by teams we should be above.
Big Sam is expected to get our team back into Europe. Well if he can do that with the team he has at the minute, he must be blessed. God help you Sam, you deserve better than that!
26 John - Wallsend // Jul 31, 2007 at 16:36
Why not sell N’Zogbia? Fergie sold Beckham and he’s a much better player than Charlie-boy.
No player is bigger than the club. N’Zogbia spat his dummy out at Watford last season because he was only put on the bench. He’s been unhappy since we sold Boumsong and if he’s still unsettled then I say let’s sell him.
I want a squad of players fighting for the club and for trophys. I don’t want any primadonnas throwing strops.
27 Steely // Jul 31, 2007 at 16:36
Well BSA has cleared up the OBA rumours with an emphatic two-finger up at this mornings papers….which is nice.
Personally, I cant see for the life of me why we would even contemplate selling Zog (Bosck - you’re right - especially not for such silly sums!).
I would genuinely question BSA’s mental health if he started off-loading ANY player without first getting a replacement at the moment! I can understand the Dyer thing as he wants to go and it looks like Smith will be a direct replacement (nowhere near as good IMO though), but selling anyone else would be suicide…especially with us Geordies as impatient as we are!!
28 Bosck // Jul 31, 2007 at 16:36
re milner possibly steely as milner has looked good there, but i also have a suspicion that sam might be using milner to cover there as he knows we have plenty of options on the right, which means that while we have injuries/bring in new players he can use zogs to cover cm and lb. wouldnt be suprised to see the wing roles rotated between milner and zogs on the left and milner and solano on the right at least until duff is back. either way i’d be happy.
for any other club i’d have thought troisi would get a run in the cups which would be good for him, but i’m pretty sure Big Sam has said he sees the league cup as our best chance for a trophy this season so i wouldnt be surprised to see our strongest side play in the cups which will mean troisi, edgar and co will have to wait a bit longer to get some 1st team game time.
29 Steely // Jul 31, 2007 at 16:40
Bosck - some very good points…probably right about the cups as well….D’Oh…I must start thinking about things more before I type! lol
RE: the left wing then - would you play Duff over Zog?? I know Zog was a bit naff last season, but so was Duff!! And I remember Zog being on fire not so long ago on that left…if BSA can get him in that form again I think I would prefer him over Duff.

SCHALKE PULL OUT OF APPIAH DEAL —
I would rather see Appiah replace Dyer rather than Smith.
What do you’s think?
31 Tez // Jul 31, 2007 at 16:44
Oh and just read -
“Newcastle United and Manchester City are ready to battle it out for the signature of Ivica Dragutinovic. ”
The Serbian stopper is highly-regarded by his club Sevilla - but the 31-year-old is keen to test himself in the Premier League and with just one-year left on his current deal, a move looks possible.
Dragutinovic, who can play in central defence or at left back, was linked with a move to City earlier this month - but now Newcastle are set to rival them for his signature. ”
More agent talk?
32 Steely // Jul 31, 2007 at 16:49
Quoted from Wikipedia. Some good info on him here Tez. I’m amazed how something as little as this can get its own page on Wikipedia so quickly!!!
“Ivica Dragutinović (Serbian Cyrillic: Ивица Драгутиновић; born November 13, 1975 in Prijepolje, Serbia, Yugoslavia) is a Serbian footballer. He currently plays for Spanish La Liga side, Sevilla F.C. and is nicknamed Drago.
He began his career at Serbian side FK Borac ÄŒaÄak before heading to Belgium’s Jupiler League to join K.A.A. Gent. He left Gent but stayed in Belgium, signing for Standard Liège in 2000. He was an overwhelming success at Standard and played over 200 games for them. In the Summer of 2005, many teams attempted to buy him, with Sevilla FC succeeding. He is contracted to Sevilla until the Summer of 2008.Now, Premier League sides Newcastle (managed by Sam Allardyce) and Manchester City have an interest for Serbian defender. Sevilla will only let him leave for a fee in the region of 8 to 12 million euros. It is likely that he will choose Newcastle United, as Dragutinović dislikes the size of the Man City . He believes it to be a nonentity of a club. That was the word recently from his advisor Orcaboy.
Dragutinović has played games Serbia and Montenegro and was part of their “Famous Four” defense, which conceded only one goal (Raúl González, Spain) during qualifying for the 2006 WorldCup [1]. The other members of the famous four are Goran GavranÄić of Dynamo Kiev, Manchester United’s Nemanja Vidić, and Mladen Krstajić of Schalke 04.
He also holds Belgian passport, so he is not included in the three non-EU player quota of La Liga.”
33 MightyMilburn // Jul 31, 2007 at 16:49
Like the rest of the Geordie nation I am frustrated by the lack of activity on the transfer market. It is quite obvious that we dont have huge squad at the moment; and I am confident that the successful business people in charge of our club also have the competence to recognize this..
Reg. all the comments (no money, martins out, n’zogbia out etc) - It is a well known fact that sensations sell news papers.. therefore, if there are no real life sensations.. the journalists/fiction writers will write pretty much anything to sell tomorrows newspaper..
We shouldnt give them the time of day.. Lets have faith in the people running the club.. Give them a bit of time to get used to the hussle and buzzle of the EPL - and if they havent delivered in i.e. 1 years time (meaning, bought no players etc) then we can rightfully crucify them..
Ashley made it clear what his ambitions for Newcastle is - why should they have changed over the last month? Maybe we are not moving as fast as we should - but I would rather have us to things right the first time (i.e. get the right players) than having to correct mistakes later on (i.e. having spent tons of money on flops..)
I dont know about the rest of you - but I do not expect the coming season to be the one where we break into the top 4 (or maybe 6).. however, as long as I can see a progress in the club/squad.. then I can live with it..
We all want success and silverware.. but to achieve this we need a bit of stability..
34 shaun // Jul 31, 2007 at 16:50
Tez - read that too, wouldn’t fancy our chances of beating man city with the transfer fee at the moment. Can’t undersatnd this talk of selling n’zogbia or Martins. Is this being leaked by the club looking for buyers. Can Sam spend or spend after selling or has he just got to sell? It’s not looking good

RE: “Drago” - anyone in the mould of Vidic will be just fine by me!! Can play CB or LB as well….PERFECT!!
40 Bosck // Jul 31, 2007 at 16:59
Steely - not entirely sure, duff on form is a great player, but n’zogbia has great potential. at the moment i’m leaning towards n’zogbia going on form in a black and white shirt, but duff would get it if he returned to form of old.
what i meant when i said until duff returns is that it will then mean that the rotations would be milner/solano on the right and duff/zogs on the left rather than milner covering both tho if him and solano do keep up this form on opposite wings it may be hard to shift the pair of them.
Ivica Dragutinović - well that will be an easy one for us fans to pronounce then!!! got quite a lot of experience (even if its not premiership) could be a useful signing for a year or so and if he is anywhere near the standard of vidic then would be awesome signing even for just a couple of years.

Has anyone spotted that the stuff about BSA having to sell Oba to raise money to buy players originated from the genious hand of Mr. Oliver of the Evening Chronicle.
Another similarly sourced rumour was that Mr. Ashley was looking to sell NUFC.
Now, couild this have anything to do with the bitter and twisted Fat Fred putting out poisonous rumours through his mouth-piece (the said Mr. Oliver) to cause disaffection against Messes. Ashley and Mort?
Maybe this is all too conspiritorial - but what the hell - We’ve got an excellent new manager, a new chairman and a new owner. All we need now is a new “Chief Sports Editor” at the Chron.!
51 Phil // Jul 31, 2007 at 17:40
REASONS TO BE CHEERFUL - PART I
We finished the season before last in 7th and but for the worst injury crisis in our history could have done the same last season. Ok, so what’s changed since then.
We’ve brought in a more experienced manager who seems to be doing all the right things off the pitch and if Celtic and Juve are anything to go by, on the pitch too.
In terms of players the only one of any consequence we’ve lost is Parker. I would normally add Dyer to that but we won’t be losing Dyer the midfielder because due to injuries he’s had to play as a second striker when he’s been fit.
We now have in addition:
1. Owen
2. Viduka
3. Barton
4. Rozenhal
5. Geremi
6. A fit Ameobi
7. A new Andy Carroll
On top of that on the showing of the friendlies at least then BS seems to be getting the best out of Stephen Carr and Charles N’Zogbia, despite his goals it’s a bit too early to say for Luque but the signs are good.
On top of that Ramage, Edgar and Huntington are all a year older. Troisi and Pattinson continue to improve (remember they are only kids). We’ve even see Lough and Barnett not look out of place against Juventus.
Now that tells me without doing anything else we are in for a very good season and that we should be aiming for a top 6.
We’re talking about West Ham and Man City splashing the cash but who have they bought that would get in our 1st 11?
City have spent £8 million on an unproven Italian striker against our Owen, Viduka (free), Martins, Ameobi (I don’t think so!) and £5 million on a 28 year old Bulgarian winger against out Milner, Solano, Duff and even Zog (though he’s not a winger) I don’t think so!
West Ham have spent £7.5 million on Bellamy!!! Would he get in ahead of Owen or Martins? I don’t think so! £7 million on Parker when we know that BS thinks that Barton is better at £5.8m and we all agree! Plus for £6 million they had to fend off ……..Rangers!…. to sign a young unproven French midfielder. Well we’already got one of those for £250k and he’s proving himself. Ljungberg was a good pickup for them for free but no better than our Geremi.
Villa have spent £4 million on Harewood (see above) and £8.5 million on Reo-Coker (see above on Parker v Barton).
So the answer is yes others are splashing the cash but it is so obvious to all but the journos (it’s even obvious to them but it doesn’t sell papers) that BS only spends money when he brings in someone better than he already has and someone who will fit in with his style of doing things. I think he’s looked at Baines and Shorey and thinks they are just not worth the money they are being touted for (one season wonders!) but wouldn’t be surprised to see one of them come in when the price surely drops. He likes the look of Curtis but already has the better version in Taylor and so he is keeping his powder dry. Until then, every defender (Cacapa, Hageland, Drame, Drag&*%$^**) will be linked with us by the papers and we’ll all get disappointed when they don’t sign. But BS has his eye on just one or two that we don’t know about and WHEN he gets them in and adds them to the current squad, watch out!!!!!
52 Midjew (was josh) // Jul 31, 2007 at 17:41

Well i think alot of rubbish has been brought up today,

56 Midjew (was josh) // Jul 31, 2007 at 18:00
Phil - Thanks, very encouraging words, and i do believe every word, BS will only get quality, but do you honestly think Alan smith is a good idea???? Though could be just papers speculating, i think it was the same paper sayin we are DEF gonna seel martins which is NOT true.
57 joel gledhill // Jul 31, 2007 at 18:00
does anyone know if we are close to signing anyone (like has anyone came too st james park too complete a deal)
58 Mart // Jul 31, 2007 at 18:14
Well I just dont know what to believe any more about whats gannin on at the Toon but I ‘m pretty sick about it
I’m all for spending wisely and am sure BSA is better than most at that, but there’s no smoke without fire ,and despite whatever rubbish Shepherds poodle Oliver writes in order to sell more Chronicles, its pretty obvious that we dont have the money we were led to believe we did to spend on new players.
What we do know is that BSA went to Barca to talk to various players and he went to Marseille for Beye so presumably he thought he had money to spend then - have things changed since Mort did his review of the club ? Certainly Ashley is not a big spender like Magnussen appears to be. Maybe that £50 m transfer jackpot rumour was just to hurry up those of us who hadn’t renewed our tickets yet.
Smith ? No thanks - we dont need him and I dont want him
Zog please stay !
And finally for now talking of sexy football, did anyone notice Shay’s ‘pavelesque’ dribbling skills against the Juve forward in the second half ? Wonderful, just like the good old days.
59 joel gledhill // Jul 31, 2007 at 18:23
mart thankz for comments but as your opion i want to know where you think newcastle will come in the table?
60 Phil // Jul 31, 2007 at 18:24
Mart, to me the only thing that is pretty obvious is that BS has not found anyone he thinks is worth bringing to the club. £50 million never came from the club, the only thing they’ve ever said is there’s money to strengthen the squad. When BS finds the right player he’ll be here. We have been linked with at least 20 players all of which has been pure fabrication. In some cases it turns out BS hasn’t even seen the guy play. When BS has been in for someone and failed he’s come out and said it (Ben Haim?). Why should we believe stories about what our transfer budget is supposed to be from these so called journos?
61 Ryan // Jul 31, 2007 at 18:26
Baptista has stated he only wants to go to a champions league club and wants to be in the first XI. We are being linked with a 4 defenders (Dragutunovic, Cech, Faye, and Steinsson) though it’s hard to believe anything you read these days. I do think Sky Sports has the least amount of pointless drivel so i hope the Sevilla rumor holds some weight. Faye would also be a good back up. I think we need one more central midfielder and would prefer it to be a creative player that can run at people and thread through balls to our potent attack. I know i’m dreaming but isn’t Riquelme still available, could get two blinding years with him in the middle of the park. I refuse to believe the Alan Smith rumor and hope he ends up with the Smoggies.
62 Rich // Jul 31, 2007 at 18:59
eeryone needs to calm down and stop believeing the press too much, if zog goes, if ashley doesnt spend a penny, if martins gets sold if anything like this happens then we can all start screaming blue murder & performing hari kari but until then i think everyones getting stressed over what a few lazy london reporter monkeys are writing in their propaganda rag, its not only football they lie about but everything.
dont believe the hype, wait until at least august 9th before getting too worried.
63 Soren // Jul 31, 2007 at 19:01
AC Milan have according to Skysports confirmed interest in Baptista
a bit sad about that, because I think he would have done good in our midfield.
I don’t se any reason to sign smith at the moment, and if dyer leaves I think £6m for smith is a bit over priced. among other things I would agree with phils REASONS TO BE CHEERFULL, think you make some good points mate

New Random Foreigner Linked -
Ivica Dragutinovic

Sky say he plays LB or CB, but hes 31!!! sounds like a stop gap to me? i dont mind being linked to young foreigners but old? im not so sure….
65 Rick // Jul 31, 2007 at 20:13
I think Drag would do alright for a season or two, at least it would give BSA more time to get quality defenders in over the next few windows. We may have missed the boat in terms of real defensive quality so I think people might now have to be prepared for a few of these signings. And who knows, if he can play LB and then we have Geremi at RB, Roz and Taylor in central defence, gone is the ‘height’ problem that we had and suddenly we look like a nice sturdy back four.
Plus, I think Smith can only be useful and I think buying him indicates that BSA has more transfer money to spend than the media has made out…otherwise why would he spend £6M out of his £10M on somebody he doesn’t need too much? He’s not that stupid.

“Reports in Spain claim that a Newcastle delegation has travelled to Seville to open talks in a bid to seal a quick move.”
Could be signed before friday looking at the story imo….

RIGHT CAN I CLEAR THIS UP - THE KORE WE THINK ABOUT THESE LINKS IN THE PAPER THE MOR WE GET WORRIED!
SIMPLY READ THE ARTICLES AND BBC AND SKYSPORTS, THEY HAVE TRUTH IN THEM, OTHERWISE THEY WOULDNT BOTHER TO RIGHT AN ARTICLE!
Rick do you know much about football? - ‘New Random Foreigner Linked’
This guy is the fantastic 4 of Serbia who only conceeded one goal in World Cup Qualifying, he versatile and a brilliant proven defender, he isnt just a random forreigner!
68 Jops // Jul 31, 2007 at 20:48
Coloccini is argentinian….
Anyway no we shouldnt sell N’zogbia he has huge potential. I dont know why hes trying to get smith. The ideal lineup would be Owen and martins up front, and rotate Viduka and Luque in. Viduka should never have been signed anyway. Theer are many talented defenders we could get on the cheap. Italy is full of them.
69 Jops // Jul 31, 2007 at 20:55
Also what i wanna know is why We havnt tried going for a few Wonderkids.
Kerlon, Celsinho, Ilsinho(Right back) they would be deals of the century.
70 Ed Harrison // Jul 31, 2007 at 20:57
Of course Coloccini is Argentinian - sorry about that - corrected it.
71 Mart // Jul 31, 2007 at 22:02
Joel - I’ll reserve judgement on where we’ll finish till at least the start of the season if you don t mind, if not until the end of the transfer deadline. Then, as usual I will change my mind week by week depending on how each game goes !!
What I will say now and I think everyone will agree, our squad is currently severely depleted, and even if we could keep mostly injury-free, we need 3-4 more players, three of which should be defenders and depending on the Dyer situation maybe another midfielder .
By the way lads and lasses - whatever you think of Dyer he tried very hard on Sunday and even though I think a move would best for all parties I must condemn anyone who boos a Newcastle player during a game
Here’s to seeing some new faces soon . Cheers
72 PK // Jul 31, 2007 at 23:52
It seems to me that BSA is too busy with players in the squad like Martins ,Zogbia,Dyer and (Owen) Keeping them or not keeping them…Poor BSA having hard time i think..If they want to leave the club they dont deserve to play for the club i LOVE..really..get in players like Barton whi gives evrything…
73 Phil // Aug 1, 2007 at 5:27
Jops, what a shame you’re not the manager!
74 Tom_Toon // Aug 1, 2007 at 11:32
If Jops was the manager he wouldnt have a clue.
75 Jops // Aug 1, 2007 at 14:51
If i was the manager i would have sent scouts to italy, spain and france. Plenty of talented youths over there.
