Major Newcastle News Stories – 5th August – 2007

Not really a lot of valid news in the press today regarding Newcastle – jut some regurgitated nonsense on Martins still having to be sold to raise money.

Not sure why – since Martins has said he’s very happy, Sam has said there’s no way Oba will be leaving and Newcastle are renegotiating his contract. I guess they never let facts get in the way of their stories. The Sunday Express is today’s newspaper printing this garbage.

We look to see who else we need to bring in before the end of August to ensure our squad is big enough – we think the quality is there.

We also look at the Dyer situation we are in with Kieron and wonder what will happen – and we think he’ll still end up at West Ham – but for ₤7M.

Hope so.

  • We have a story today reflecting on what is happening with this Dyer situation we seem to now have. The news being reported is that Mike Ashley stepped in at the last moment and raised the fee because he was unahappy with West Ham approaching Dyer illegally. We don’t believe the story and if they approached Dyer illegally so what? Seems to us it’s in our best interests to work the deal.
However, there are one or two reports coming in – some from Dyer’s side – suggesting that some compromise can be agreed next week and they can then still complete the deal. When everybody calms down this may be the thing to do and getting say ₤7M for Dyer would be good business for Newcastle. Seems like West Ham don’t much care what they pay for players and Dyer would still be one of their better deals this summer.

Kieron Dyer – Will he still end up signing for West Ham – but for £7M?

  • We take a little time to reflect  on how our squad is shaping up with the 6 players Big Sam has brought in and the additional 2 that should arrive early next week. We think we still need 3 new signings. A 3rd goalkeeper now that Tim is off to Falkirk for 6 months and maybe the full season, a classy right back and a play-making midfielder. Perhaps the need for a midfielder will allow us to bring in a world renowned player to put the icing on the cake – or should I say the squad. We are still at the same numbers as last season but of course we will have no European games this season and we had 13 last season, that’s an additional 33% on our league program – so maybe the squad is big enough. We’ll only average about one game a week for the full season.

Chairman Chris Mort – do we have enough in yet ? maybe not

  • We reflect on last Friday’s transfer business at Newcastle and the fact that Sam seems to have lit a fire under some of the new executives at Newcastle. They sure did show some speed in the transfer market last week. Sam has been saying speed is needed for weeks now but the fact we operated in the sleek manner we did augers so well for the future. Just think about January and next summer when we’ll have the whole business of getting a player in (or out) smooth and fast – sounds great to us.
We also mention how Friday’s events significantly raised the mood of Newcastle’s faithful – which is good in itself.

Sam and Smith – Sam seems to have smoothed out Newcastle’s transfer process – or somebody has – that’s very good

  • Finally here’s some funny football quotes – to lighten up the day   😀

“We’re going to start the game at nil-nil and go out and try to get some goals.” – Bryan Robson

“I was a young lad when I was growing up.” – David O’Leary

“If in winning we only draw we would be fine.” – Jack Charlton

Bryan Robson – trying to score goals – what a concept

Dyer will go and the real reasons will come out or sure soon.

Enrique – really hope he is our player Monday / Tuesday

    Same with Drago

And then, the icing on the cake, so to speak – Deco or Riquelme.

Deco sad in an interview around the week ago that he doesn’t want to leave Barca, also Rijkard and many fans say that Deco is an important piece at Barca and his not leaving. Even if he left, he wouldn’t come to Newcastle.

PS: If he does sign, which he won’t, i will be the first to print this page out and eat it with garlic sauce.

That Sunday Express article is completely rubbish it has made m so angry. Ashley IS giving us money – 6 million for Smith, 4 million for Enrique, 2.5 million for Drago. Whoever says Ashley is not giving us money is a fool. The 50 million was only reported and never confirmed by an official source. We don’t even need 50 million to improve our squad as Sam has shown.

Yes. Everyone in the world realised that Newcastle is going to be exelent next season. Even Bosnian television shows matches against celtic, juventus and sampdoria. Yes,yes, yes I can watch my dear Newcastle United few times before season starts. When season starts we can only watch games of Man. Utd.,Chelsea,Arsenal or Liverpool. I hope that Newcastle will be first option in next couple years and That I can watch my team more times over the year. I’m looking forvard to new season. I hope one day I will be at St. James Park looking Newcastle beating Liverpool 5:0. Yes,yes, yes. :)))))))

Ed, where do you get the article about signing for 5 years. I’ve just looked at the Villareal site and it (article dated August 3rd) only says they have reached an agreement for the transfer. Nothing about 5 years and nothing about it being a done deal!
