Not too much new news today.
We have an article on Sam’s quest to capture Drago from Sevilla and it will not be easy.
We also have a sneaking suspicion that the Kieron Dyer drama will be settled before the end of the week and we even propose a compromise deal to quicken things up   😀
Good to see the club are taking care of new signing Jose Enrique – that’s just one of the things we like about Big Sam – he certainly takes good care of his players. Hey – wonder if that’s why they play so well for him – what a concept.
An update on a charity run by Mark Allison from John O’ Groats to Land’s End on behalf of St. Benedict’s Hospice. Mark sent me a note this morning saying he got a good laugh at the fictitious conversation between him and Big Sam in our report yesterday. But as you can see below he looks in great shape – and starting to attract the ladies we see  😀
He recieved quite good contributions yesterday (nearly ₤2K ?) so hopefully we all had something to do with that. Mark finishes this coming weekend and we’ll run this story for the rest of the week. He has now collected ₤18,127 and we admire Mark’s guts and courage greatly – he’s doing a fine fine thing and it reflects well on him and on Newcastle United – because Mark is an avid fan.Â
Here’s Mark’s web site where he has a daily log and all kinds of good information about his fabulous effort. It’s now day 33 (of 37 days) of his run. If you can contribute to Mark’s efforts please do so at this just giving site
Mark Allison – seen yesterday with kind Police Officer – who donated to St. Benedict’s HospiceJust a great 4 minute video today on Peter Beardsley’s fantastic career and goals at Newcastle. Take a look and see if you are not ready for Newcastle to make a storming come-back in the league this season.
Peter Beardsley – what a great playerA good to read article on our new signing Jose Enrique and the effective support system Sam seems to have set up to get him comfortably settled in at Newcastle. Sam is an old master at this and it will be good to see our players taken care of. One thing to remember is that Jose is just 21 years-old so he does need some help in getting settled in. I’m sure our supporters will help him settle too – he can be our left-back for many years to come because there’s no doubt he’s an excellent player in the true Sam Allardyce mould.
Jose Enrique – Good support system set up at the clubWe run a piece on Ivaca Dragutinovic and Sam Allardyce we think is in Spain trying to close the deal. Initially Drago said he would make his decision today about whether to join us but now it’s Wednesday or Thursday. We don’t believe the news that say Drago has already signed a 4 year deal with Sevilla. While it could be true there’s no official word on any deal yet. We think they are re-hashing old information from yesterday when Drago said there is a likelihood he will stay at Sevilla. Sam still has to get his shot at Ivaca and nothing is decided until that happens. Drago has to make the choice – we still hope he comes to Newcastle.
Ivaca Dragutinovic – Decides Wednesday or Thursday whether he is coming to NewcastleWe have an update on the Dyer situation and have a sneaking suspicion there will be a compromise deal done before the end of the week. The clubs in reality are only about ₤1M away from a deal and we still think both clubs do want the deal. We think a compromise deal of ₤7M up front may be done – and that’s a good deal for both clubs – and good for Kieron also.
Kieron Dyer – We think he’ll sign for West Ham later this week - for £7M? – hope soFinally here’s some funny football quotes – to lighten up the day 😀
“Football’s a difficult business and aren’t they prima donnas?” – The Queen
“We probably got on better with the likes of Holland, Belgium, Norway and Sweden, some of whom are not even European.” -Â Jack Charlton
“It’s a game we’ve got to win. It’s also a game we’ve not got to lose” – Graham Taylor
