Damien Duff Gives Glowing Assessment of Big Sam

Damien Duff is still recovering from his ankle injury and will not return until November of this year.

But that has not stopped Damien from singing the praises of his new boss at Newcastle.

He believes the changes Sam has already made at the club will help him with his injury rehabilitation.

Damien Duff – injury prone

Damien has been injury prone his whole career so we hope once he’s fit again those injuries will become less regular as Sam gets him fitter. Once our new training methods and rehabilitation techniques at the training center are fully implemented that should also help Damien.

Damien Duff talked about Sam on the Official Newcastle web-site today:

“The club needed a fresh start,”

“Sam did a great job at Bolton and has come in here and sorted everything out, from top to bottom he’s changed things.”

”He knows what the club needs and I think we will definitely improve on last year because of that.”

Allardyce was of course known for the way he transformed Bolton’s physiotherapy department and Damien has seen a similar job completed on Tyneside at close quarters, as he recovers from his ankle operation.

Damien went on:

“Everyday I’m working my socks off to get back playing as soon as I can,”

“Everything has gone okay so far and hopefully it will continue to do so.”

“Sam has changed things on the medical side so that’s excellent for me.”

It’s certainly true that once we get our 7 injured players back, Duff, Emre, Babayaro, Owen, Barton, Given and Luque our squad will look a lot better. Then the challenge will be to keep them fit for the season and if we can do that something good will be happening with our physiotherapy department. We certainly need that.

Comments always welcome.

We are yet to see the Duff of his Blackburn days at SJP. Let’s hope he starts t produce the form we know he is capable of and it will be almost like a new signing.

I’m really looking forward to seeing Duff, Emre, Luque and Owen back and fit. All big players with huge reputations, and would like to see whether BSA can get them back at full tilt. If he does, then we have 3 extremely productive and exciting players. Barton we know is going to be great as long he stays out of prison. If he could drive a rubbish Man City team out of relegation, then I can’t wait to see how BSA uses him to take us forward.
I really hope Given isgoing to get over his troubles. He’s had a torrid time after the (Stupid idiot) Harewood moment at West Ham last year. I was there in the away section and it didn’t look pleasant from where i was standing. That bowel problem really has opened a can of worms for Given.

@Kash – agree, if BSA can get those four fit and playing well it’ll be like having another 4 signings – looks like Sam and team have brought a new lease of life to all the players, hopefully it’ll carry us up the table with it.
man I’m really looking forward to Saturday 🙂
