Newcastle Dominating Bolton, 3-0 Up at Half Time

Sam Allardcye handed full debuts to Rozehnal, Geremi (captain), Smith and Viduka.

Sammy Lee handed full senior debuts to Jlloyd Samuel, Gavin McCann and Gerald Cid for today’s Barclays Premier League opener against Newcastle United.

Wanderers will go with the 4-4-2 system, which has served him well in pre-season. At the back, Cid will partner Abdoulaye Faye in the heart of defence, after Abdoulaye Meite pulled out on Friday with a back injury.

Summer recruit from Aston Villa, Jlloyd Samuel, starts at left back and Nicky Hunt, who has recovered from a bruised toe, will play in his customary right back role.
Lee goes with his trusted midfield of Gary Speed, Gavin McCann, Ricardo Vaz Te and Kevin Nolan.

French international Nicolas Anelka will partner Kevin Davies up front.

Bolton Wanderers: Jaaskelainen, Hunt, Faye, Cid, Samuel, Speed, McCann, Nolan (capt), Vaz Te, Anelka, Davies. Subs: Al Habsi, Helguson, Diouf, Sinclair, Alonso.

Newcastle United: Harper, Carr, Rozehnal, Martins, N’Zogbia, Milner, Smith, Geremi (capt), Butt, Taylor, Viduka. Subs: Forster, Cacapa, Solano, Ameobi, Ramage

Referee: Mr C Foy

Newcastle United got off to a fantastic start to their season when they literally tore into Bolton Wanderers this afternoon at the Reebok and were 3-0 up after 27 minutes.

The team started like a steam train with everyone supporting each other, and this must have been one of the best team performances seen for 45 minutes, for some time at Newcastle.

Newcastle started immediately to boss the midfield and seemed to take Bolton by surprise by the way they started the game so aggressively and at such a fast pace.

After 11 minutes they went ahead through a 30-yard effort by N’Zogbia out on the right. Jaaskelainen should have done better. He seemed to be put off by Rozehnal charging through but Roz just missed the contact and the ball went across the Bolton goalkeeper into the net.

Newcastle were running Bolton off their feet and not allowing them to get into any sort of rhythm. It seems like Allardyce knew exactly how to beat his old team as Newcastle kept the tempo high and the pace electric.

Then after 21 minutes Newcastle went 2-0 up when Martins – who seems to have lightning pace – found himself 8 yards out with the ball bouncing in front of him. Oba somehow hit the ball over his head with an acrobatic right foot shot that flies over Jaaskelainen and into the net.

Then after 24 minutes there was a scare for Newcastle as Rozehnal stopped the ball of the line with his body, and there was an appeal for a penalty and then the ball was stopped on the line by Steven Taylor for Harper to finally collect. A lucky escape for Newcastle.

Then after 27 minutes Martins hit a ball speculatively from 30 yards, it gets a deflection off a Bolton player and wrong foots the goalkeeper and it’s 3-0 up for Newcastle who are dominating Bolton completely.

It’s a good first half for Newcastle as the whistle goes after 2 minutes of added time. Sam Allardyce couldn’t have hoped for a better start from his new side. Now Newcastle must be professional and keep playing in the second half as Bolton have to make some changes to get back in the game. A fantastic first 45 minutes from Newcastle with every player seeming to play well.

Full report immediately after the game.

This morning I walked past Ladbrokes and could have got 200 -1 for Toon to win the Premiership; they were next to Spurs at 66-1. I think I may have missed a trick! Great start – takes the edge off the news about Solano maybe going to Wham. I wonder if Dyer might have achange of herart and dump his wife and kids instaed of us. I for one would rather he stayed. Maybe we’ll see Cacapa for a lete 10 mins if we can extend the lead.

Yeah it both Carr and Rozy made a mistake, carr was to far up and Rozy kept Anelka onside. But besides that Rozy plays great.

Really impressed with Carr, hasn’t put a foot qrong. Martins was lively, glad he got a brace. Rozenhal looks sahkey but he’ll have to adapt to physical side, but he’s very good on the ball! Smudger and Butt are solid in the middle!

Great play so far, just need to defend the 3 points! We could be top of the league tonight!

oh well regardless that SOpcast shafted me for the last 30 mins i thought he played terrific, but the start of the second half illustrated the need for a new RB. Carr is just not good enough, he was the weakest link in out team. i just cant wait for players like Barton, Owen, Duff and Given back… As i predicted, i knew that Martins would start and play most of the game, hes our key and ive always thought that! NUFC top of the league, Martins top goal scorer!!!

PLEASE SAY SOME OF THE BOLTON FANS THAT CAME OUT OF THE WOODWORK LAST NIGHT RETURN 🙂

A taste of things to come 🙂 lets all toast to the beggining of a new era at the Toon!!!!

Good interview from SkySPorts with Big Sam….

“alot of rubbish has been said and written about the club over the past few weeks, all of its nonesense”

“The lads have showed me alot of what they can do today which was great, and the are STARTING to show the standard that im looking for now we just need to keep it up”

im paraphrasing but its good to see him with a big grin on his face and say that the standard he wants it starting to show through, but its not their yet which means that he obviously wont let us et complacent.

i think we still need a RB and a creative spark in that midfield a young Deco or something is exactly what we need in my eyes!!!

Woohoo! Do you take a good look at Gartside’s face! Hahaha . Aside from that, Carr is still unreliable, me thinks. Anyway, a wonderful game, still got me jitters.

Toon! Toon! The Black White Army!

Anyway, a fantastic, i repeat, a fantastic game. Finally, Reebok Stadium had been breached by Toon Army, and we wracked it leaving the Trotters to leave at 70mins 😀

Superb, thats almost a 6 pointer as Bolton is a very tough place to go to and we get a plus 2 goal difference with 3 points!!! very very pleased with this result. Top Notch.

On another note Capaca should play right back ahead of Carr soon, once he gets fully match fit we should see him there.

A team without Given, Enrique, Barton, Owen, even Duff? and Emre thats ever more so a fantastic result.

    Big Praise guys..big praise.

1st time we have won at Bolton since 2001
