Kieron Dyer remains for sale at £8M but it’s not clear whether anybody will take up that option on Dyer before the transfer window closes in 18 days time.
However, it appears even if nobody leaves the club before then new players are still likely to come in.
Sam says that the club is willing to bring suitable new players in – even if Dyer is not sold.
Sam Allardcye - still wants more players in
Sam Allardyce told the Sunday Sun yesterday:
“If Dyer didn’t go and we found someone suitable to buy, we would get him.â€
“That’s been proven in the last week by us spending the best part of £11M on Smith and Enrique without Kieron going.â€
“That was very encouraging for all of us.â€
“I thought we would have got one player in — maybe two — this week. One of those players is now a no-go, the other one is still ongoing.”
One player we were after last week was defender Ivaca Dragutinovic of Sevilla, so we’re not sure if he’s the one that’s now a no-go or whether he’s still in the frame. We’re not sure who the other player is.
Sam went on:
“I’m looking abroad now because there’s nothing left in this country.â€
Lots of news today Newcastle have been offered another central defender at Paris St Germain, 6’3†Mario Yepes. He’s rated at £1.7M and of course Rozehnal will be able to update Big Sam on the Columbian International.
PSG are ready to offload the £1.7M center back who’s played 35 times for Columbia and whose nickname in his homeland is “El Rey†— The King.
We’ll just have to see what transpires on the transfer front this week, but the encouraging display on Saturday should spur Newcastle management on to get the players Sam wants. We still think the squad is a little light in numbers.
