Sam Still After New Players

Kieron Dyer remains for sale at £8M but it’s not clear whether anybody will take up that option on Dyer before the transfer window closes in 18 days time.

However, it appears even if nobody leaves the club before then new players are still likely to come in.

Sam says that the club is willing to bring suitable new players in – even if Dyer is not sold.

Sam Allardcye – still wants more players in

Sam Allardyce told the Sunday Sun yesterday:

“If Dyer didn’t go and we found someone suitable to buy, we would get him.”

“That’s been proven in the last week by us spending the best part of £11M on Smith and Enrique without Kieron going.”

“That was very encouraging for all of us.”

“I thought we would have got one player in — maybe two — this week. One of those players is now a no-go, the other one is still ongoing.”

One player we were after last week was defender Ivaca Dragutinovic of Sevilla, so we’re not sure if he’s the one that’s now a no-go or whether he’s still in the frame. We’re not sure who the other player is.

Sam went on:

“I’m looking abroad now because there’s nothing left in this country.”

Lots of news today Newcastle have been offered another central defender at Paris St Germain, 6’3” Mario Yepes. He’s rated at £1.7M and of course Rozehnal will be able to update Big Sam on the Columbian International.

PSG are ready to offload the £1.7M center back who’s played 35 times for Columbia and whose nickname in his homeland is “El Rey” — The King.

We’ll just have to see what transpires on the transfer front this week, but the encouraging display on Saturday should spur Newcastle management on to get the players Sam wants. We still think the squad is a little light in numbers.

Your comments are always welcome.

Ahhh… Mario Yepes… I would take him 5 years ago… Now… I feel no point paying someone to train and sit on bench for us.. If he can’t make it for PSG, then I don’t think he can make it for NUFC.

i think yepes could still do a jo for us i mean he is not out of the frame at PSG beucause of lack of talent.
It’s more down to Le Guen new regime who feels he need to rid of some of the
    veterans,to restart the club.
But i doubt that their is any truth in this sound like typical sunday sun bullshit.

I trust BS, I think he’ll bring in a few more quality signing before the month is out.

I can’t wait for the villa game now! Wish I could be there!

Personally i’d b gutted if dyer solano and luque left, i no dyers been a nob these past few weeks bu if he is comin out and gonna play top football this season id lik it to b with us, he can play cm, rm and striker and that provides great cover for us if we get any injuries, he could b a super sub. as for new players cicinho is available from real madrid and hes a great full back lets go for him!as for a winger jesus navas! great talent and huge potential.
    Come on the Toon!!!!!

Silvestre rejected us before we signed Smith. It was meant to be £6m combined deal. Drago is the no go, so not sure who the ongoing transfer is. If BSA is looking for more players, i’d suspect that another right back is now a priority if Solano is leaving. Personally, i’d like another central midfielder too. Then we need an attacking midfielder/winger to come in. But the icing on the cake would be a playmaker, and considering Riquelme is available, he’d be my choice!

i say thay all we need is 2 players the first being a defender who can play anywhere across the back four – silvestre would be a perfect signing. The 2nd player would be a skillful left winger – my choice would be samir nasri or dimitri payet, by the way Ed do you know how much either of these will cost? That would leave all the positions covered – our line-up would be:

    ……………………………….Given…………………………….
    …Geremi…………Taylor….Rozenhal………Enrique…
    ………..Milner………..Barton………….Nasri / Payet…
    …………Owen…………..Viduka……….Martins………..

Subs: Harper, Cacapa, Slivestre, N’zogbia, Smith, Ameobi / Carroll

This is a very strong starting 11 and during matches we would be able to bring on very good players and all positions would be covered:

    Given / Harper
Geremi, Taylor, Rozenhal, Enrique / Cacapa, Silvestre
    Milner, Barton / Smith
    Nasri or Payet / N’zogbia
Owen, Viduka, Martins / Carroll or Ameobi

is this enrique going to be one for the future or is he already good enough for the first team, his tranfer fee suggests he’s good enough. Think need right back urgently, carr hasn’t looked too bad but he’s our only right back, and at the moment the weakest link.

Yes we need a RB and fast. And no, not Cicinho, he’s no RB he’s a Right Winger. He went so much forward that in some games Beckham was playing RB. He’s pace saved him in Spain but in the EPL he would be just and average speed player and would be caught out of position many times. We need someone Enrique-like.

We’re all saying the same things here. The ongoing transfer is probably a CB who can operate as a LB/RB. If it’s a CB&RB then are we happy with Charley boy as cover for LB? I thought he got caught out a couple of times, so my answer is NO. So we’ll need another LB to go with CB/RB player. Ideally we could sign a CB/LB player, like Drago, and then get in a 1st team RB. Does anybody have any thoughts on a RB who is big, strong and powerful?

As for the midfield, I think we need attacking midfielder/winger and a playmaker. I like Diouf and BSA knows him well, and Riquelme is brilliant and I think BSA would definitely get the best out of him.

Hmm i said this about Yepes roughly a week ago, and i hope it is true, a very good and experienced defender. As for the RB situation id go with Arne Friedrich he is one of the fastest players in the Bundesliga, a powrful long shot and a great defender. Very strong for a RB aswell. He can play CB and RW aswell, so the versatility is there. Dont think much of Sylvestre, i wouldnt like him at Toon.

If we could only get one player in it has to be at right back, with Solano leaving and Geremi looking the part in midfield that leaves only Carr. He is the only reason Anelka scored. He doesn’t have the pace anymore to compete and obviously no brain. All he had to do was step up and play him offside, it was easy to see what Nolan was looking for, any good defender would have stepped up and seen Anelka about 5 yards offside. I hope Cacapa could also play well there but we need a solid RB!!!!!!!!!

As much as i would love to see a top class playmaker such as requelme in the side, my deep feelings are that it would be unlikely to happen, i would go for Juninho if he was a couple of years younger. As for silvestre, well he could be a useful sub, but i woudn’t have him as a starter.

Quite agree Ryan, all Carr had to do was step up and raise his hand….Voila…
offside Anelka…did he really think he was going to skin Anelka for pace and take the ball off his toe?

Would like to see this Capaca in action…..could always use Taylor at right back if we had to, can’t wait to see who BSA tempts to the toon now….hopefully players will be keen to come after our solid start to the campaign.

ibrahim Toraman is a strong possibilty for us. Not that BSA has looked at him, but he is a regular for Turkey and Besikitas and thier vice-captain and considered one of the best defenders Turkey has had. He plays CB internationally and RB for club. Perfect for what we are looking for. Arne Friedrich is another possibility 🙂

For rb ive been following a youngster called barragan spanish u21 solid rb pacey, quite skillful and performs well, not sure about his cost but would b a great buy as he is spains future rb. at lb, i cant c us gettin shorey BSA already said there are no more players left in england so he lookin abroad for players now. as for the rest of the team i dont think we are desperate for more players as we have already got our first team sorted and good cover and as milner is playin on the side if solano leaves he can go back on the right and nzogbia can slot back in the left, remember we’ve still got 6 players to come back from injury so they will add to the team. no injurys wiv full could b

    ……………Given…………………
    new rb..Taylor..Rozenhal..Enrique

    Milner………Geremi……..N’zogbia

    Owen……….Viduka………Martins

    …………..Harper……………….
    cacapa..Ramage..Huntington..Edgar

    Duff……….Barton………Emre

    Smith……..Ameobi………Carrol

id suggest Richards but this guy is gonna end up cb with taylor for england in 5 years time and a world class pairing they WILL be!! he wouldnt give up the chance at the moment of playing week in week out in his favourite position for City. i would look at Anderlecht rb Vanden Borre seen him play quite a few times and look very very good probably world class in 3 years. This season really feels different in the way all my toon mates are talking about whats defender to buy next not like the past when all we would talk bout over our pints was what attacking midfielder or striker the club should buy. I am so very confident that “Sir” Sam will take us to the top and silverware all within 4 years. Im more that ready to wait aswell.
When we do win some silverware we should petition Bucks Palace for his knighthood!!!!!!!!!!

Are you bloody dumb. Vanden Borre moved to Fiorentina on the day of the commense of the transfer window. He agreed before the window even started.
