AndyW - you're completely right that BS deserves our trust. If Faye comes I hope you're right and that BS can get him into the team on his best.

In fairness to Faye maybe he only looked bad on Saturday because he was up against a motivated, class side who had been coached on how to play him by his ex-mentor.

Thing is, if we were bringing in some over-priced buffoon (Boumsong £8m), we'd all be saying wow - he must be good!

I think Sam's earned a little bit of our trust for the time being.

Good thing that Dyer will be out (if it doesn't collapse again at the end ;-) ).

I agree with Tom_toon; I also prefer Yepes and Beletti over Faye and Neville.

- Neville is a player I don't like.

- Faye didn't look secure at the back last Saturday.

- Yepes; a defender with lots of experience. Formed the heart of the defence with Roz, so they will gel together rather quickly.

- Beletti; quality RB at Barca so more than welcome to play for the Toon.

@ Ed: Is this true that Faye is having a medical today in Newcastle??

goodbye sicknote, take your bling bling antics to another club. :)

as for faye, neville beletti and yepes, i think they'd all be good signings. gives the squad depth, however bar enrique we dont seem to be signing many younger players?
do you think this is purely because big sam wants experience in his squad?

Stephen, i think you're looking at the point the wrong way round.

£7m for dyer is a good price. Richardson, Chopra and Gordon were overpriced, £16.5m for Bent is an extortionate fee and way overpriced, i'm not saying he is not a good player, but he has 1 years premiership experience and is not an established international.

Thierry Henry on the other hand is Arsenals highest ever goal scorer, a long standing French international, World Cup and European Championship winner, Fa Cup and Premiership winner. At the moment there is just no comparison and he was bought for £0.5m less than tottenham paid for bent!!

Good riddance to him, I'm ecstatic. He is has been a waste of money since we signed him. Doesn't play enough, doesn't score enough and has cost NUFC loads of money.

£7m!! we are lucky to get that for this sick note. One of the players Roy Keane is no doubt refferring to, more interested in bling and money than football. He will soon be forgotten and is no where near being one of the Newcastle greats. Couldn't even lace Beardsleys or Waddles boots.

About time we got rid of him, I guarantee the player that replaces him does more for NUFC this season than he has in his whole career. Good riddance loser! Keep up the good work Sam, already rid of Bramble and Dyer and alls looking good!!!

Is it just me or is this below a complete contradiction?

"The asking price initially was £6M with £1M added for appearances and Newcastle upped the price to a straight £8M at the last minute when the deal collapsed almost two weeks ago. The compromise deal is understood to involve an initial fee of £6M with the final £1M dependent on appearances. It looks like the added compromise amount is half the extra £2M Newcastle initially asked".

Whoever wrote this article states, as I've quoted above, "the asking price initially was £6M + £1M on appearances" ...right?...
Ok,.....
Then, later on in the same paragraph....
"The compromise deal is understood to involve an initial fee of £6M with the final £1M dependent on appearances" !!!!!!!!! WHAT????!!!!!!!!!!!

IT'S THE EXACT SAME DEAL!!!!!

Why are people now saying, "A 7 million fee for Dyer is a good compromise"

IT'S NOT!!!! IT'S EXACTLY THE SAME AS BEFORE!!!

Anyway, who bloody cares, we ought to give him away with a bag of tea.

Hadn't really considered Faye to be the standard of player we were looking for - but if Sam has gone back to Bolton for only 1 player that he knows really well, then I for one am prepared to trust his judgement.

Wes - Its ok. Milner will soon oust Dyer out of England's squad.. ;-)

Anyway, England squad players ain't that great also, isn't it? The likes of Jermaine Jenas and Aaron Lennon doesn't link to world class to me.

why faye ?? why not arteta ! that guy is the most under-rated playmaker in EPL . when B.S signed smith , dint doubt his quality but whether we really needed another striker .. faye is not QUALITY enough ! i did rather give matty a run for his money

Its no good keeping an unhappy player. I am happy that Dyer will finally go and Newcastle can now build on from the good start to the season at the weekend.

But I still think that Dyer has been sold on the cheap, for an England international, he should be worth more than that.
