Four Good Right Backs for Newcastle

It’s very obvious now that Newcastle must recruit a right-back before the transfer window expires in 12 days time.

Stephen Carr is too slow and can be roasted too easily by a speedy winger.

Here are 4 right backs we could go after in the remaining twelve days of the transfer window – and any one of them could do a job at Newcastle.

Stephen Carr – time is probably up at Newcastle

The four players are Juliano Belletti of Barcelona, Phil Neville of Everton, Jose Bosingwa of FC Porto and Cicinho of Real Madrid.

Juliano Belletti – Barcelona

Sam Allardyce is said to be confident Newcastle can attract Belletti to the club. The Brazilian has class and experience and at 31 years-old is not that old for a Sam Allardyce signing. There is new news today in the News of the World suggesting Sam is still after Belletti. The reported fee of ₤3M seems high for a 31 year-old but we think Sam has tracked Belletti for some time. Sam certainly has an excellent record of attracting great players for very reasonable fees and we think Belletti would add class to Newcastle’s back line. We think it’s possible to get Juliano for around ₤2.5M and he would be a good buy for us. He has been capped 23 times for Brazil and has appeared 71 times for Barcelona over the last two seasons.

Phil Neville – Everton

There are reports that Sam may be after Phil Neville, the Everton captain and former Manchester United player. A bid of £4M has been mentioned in the press – but we don’t know if Sam will still do that deal, if he can attract Belletti to the club. We think it would be difficult to attract Neville club since he is doing well at Everton, is captain and not sure why he would want to move to Newcastle. Phil played 263 times for Manchester United and so far 75 times for Everton. He has played for England 56 times.

Jose Bosingwa – FC Porto

Porto’s right back Jose Bosingwa is also said to be a target for Newcastle although Aston Villa are now strongly linked with the player. A few weeks ago Jose was rated at ₤3M – but reports today suggest Villa have already bid ₤6M for the player. If that’s true he’s far too expensive.
José Bosingwa da Silva (born August 24, 1982 in Kinshasa, DR Congo) previously played for Boavista FC, Porto’s local rivals. He has played for Porto 79 times since 2003, scored 2 goals and stands 6’0” tall. The 23-year-old Portugal international can operate in midfield or at right-back .

Cicinho – Real Madrid

Brazilian Cicinho signed a five year contract with Real Madrid two years ago but Real seem willing to allow him to move on. Cicinho is 5′8” tall and has played 16 times for Brazil since his debut in 2005 and scored 1 goal. He is known for his combative tackling, darting runs and attacking play and has often been compared to Roberto Carlos, with his ability to attack. Not too sure what his transfer fee would be.

There is also news today that Leroy Rosenior, Fulham may also be available. Lawrie Sanchez is said to be ready to listen to offers. Leroy may be too expensive for what you get and maybe one of the foreign players would be abtter buy.

Let us know what you think.

Who should Sam sign? – comments always very welcome.

Dont want Rosenior, if Fulham dont want him we should sneer down on him!… there has been a lot of talk about who we can get and should, however nothings actually happened, and we are not sure as to what is true and what isnt… theres not long left now, less than 2 weeks to get 2 players.

I prefer Belleti but at this time anyone of those 4 will do, just please change Carr . Rosenier? no–no . Anyway, it seem Big Sam put Carr at RB on purpose (e.g : put a hole on the defense), if thats the case it would make sense, cause most of the attack will be coming from there so its easier to defend 😀 Just a thought tho…

Apparently Bosingwa is valued at £12million and so Villa are now after Rosenior…

I don’t think we’re looking at LEROY Rosenior as he’s about 45 and I think he’s a pundit for five live now. Maybe his son Liam?

Bosingwa is the best choice out of those. Other fullbacks that could be good, Vitaliy Denisov, One of the Berezutskiy brothers (both huge full backs) or Chidi Odiah.

Why would Lahm join us please? I dont rate neville one bit and would be very dissapointed if he were to join but i would be happy with either Belletti or Cicinho although i think that they are both attacking minded.

Id rather have Carr than Cicinho. Denisov and Vitali Berezutskiy are LB’s but Chidi Odiah is a quality RB but for the premiership i would reccomend Aleksei Berezutskiy, he can play CB and RB he is 6ft 3 and no slack in defence.

Lahm can also play right back, in fact he is right footed…

Out of the 4 i’d prefer Bosingwa. Cicinho and Belletti are both too attacking and EPL is faster the La Liga so they would be caught out of position.

    Neville is just crap IMO.

Lahm plays for Bayern Munchen, why would he join us ?? Were still a long way from getting into the crowd he rolls with.

I think Chidi Odiah would be a good choice, or Bosingwa. Odiah can link up with his mate Martins 🙂

I Think Big Sam will play Geremi on RB position when we have Barton, Emre, and Duff all fit. He was forced to fill in the gap in our midfield as we are lack of experince player there.

As for Belleti, he is good for us if Sam wants to play an attacking style, and also the Spanish football is not as slow as the Italian league, so any players from La Liga can perform quite well for EPL style of play.

Ibve outlined 3 perfect, natural RB, not combined with CB etc.

Roman Shishkin – Very quick, good tackler, named one of Europes 8 most prospective footballers of the future. Just turned 20.

Jose Bosingwa – Ver quick and able in defence. 24 years old.

Chidi Odiah – Regular for Nigeria, Very quick, good in defence. 23 Years old, one of Nigeria’s key players along with Martins.

These players posses the attributes Carr doesnt have. And more 🙂

I don’t get why Solano isn’t put at right back, Carr was shocking yesterday the only real player that look out of his depth.

I hope we get in a couple of players before the end of the window right back being our priority!

Great defensive display yesterday (exception of Carr) refreshing to see.

As long as we don’t find a good RB; why don’t we play Taylor at RB position and finally put Cacapa in CB. He can become a top 3 CB at the EPL. IMO it seems a bit harsch for Taylor, but if we find another RB (hope it will be Belletti) than he IMO must be our 3rd CB. Cacapa and ROz (who is excellent, as I predicted 😉 ) are the best choices at this moment. Taylor needs to learn more and Roz and Cacapa can learn him all he needs to know to become a fantastic CB. Taylor plays very good, dont misunderstand me, but the other 2 are better for me.

Come to a conclusion, Shishkin is good but not ready to replace Carr as he is only 20 and played 15 first teams matches. Bosignwa would be good but would cost 12 mil and evne though eh is good thats not worth it. 7 Max.

Chidi Odiah, perfect solution, good defender, quick and wpouldn’t cost alot + a regular for nigeria and they seem to adapt to the english game better. However he has had a few injuries.

Carr did look slow against Young, and Anelka last week.
I just don’t know how good any of these folk will be. I liked the look of Liam Rosenoir in the U21 championship over the summer. I like the idea of a 12million pound player (Boswigna) but is he worth that?
And how good did Taylor and Rozehnal look on Satuerday!

Did anyone actually see the game on sat?..Taylor made more boo-boos than anyone else in a B/W shirt!..DON’T get me wrong, he’s gonna be fine, but he had a bit of a mare!..Which led BSA to say he ain’t ready for England(who cares about england anyway?)…& while Carr is slow, he didn’t do much wrong on sat, & has upped his game from last season…So while he plays for the toon,
get off his back. Slagging any toon player off WILL NOT HELP, on any level!..Mob rule sucks & is counter-intuitive!..If that’s what you wanna do, go & ‘support’ someone else. The clue is in the word ‘support’!..
…Don’t take this the wrong way, i want the Lads to kick-ass as much as anyone, but just don’t see the point of constant griping about this player or that. Carr ain’t no world beater, that’s for sure & he may be the weak link(?),
but please refrain from slaggin’ him when he did little wrong & then sayin’ Taylor played a blinder, when he blatently didn’t!..
    …Howay the lads!..
