I'm not convinced by Glen Johnson or Justin Hoyte and I've never heard of this German fella either so i can't really comment on him. However i don't really see Sam splashing out £9m on a right back. I am convinced Geremi should be playing ar right back as i havn't been convinced by some of his midfield performances and seem to remember his better performances coming from right back.

Don't get me wrong i think he will be a fantastic player for us and has done a great job of captain but i would rather see Butt, Smith and Emre battling in the midfield.

Does anybody think that with Faye coming in that Sam might adopt a back 3 (Faye, Tayls and Roz) and play with wing backs (Milner and Charles)?

Although not 100% convinced by this formation from past experiences under Robson when he tried it i feel this could make us even more solid especially away from home.

The situation regarding rightback is rather conspicuous, WE AINT GOT ONE. Carr is too slow, too small and makes too many mistakes. Ramage switches off and lacks true quality and confidence. Geremi for me would be ideal as rightback, as he could still have the same influence he has if he were playing in a slightly deeper role. However we would still need cover for him. I believe Glenn Johnston on the cheap would be a great singing, he is english, had experience with the nation setup and has vital premierleague history. So as a squad player he is vital. He did well at Portsmouth and to be fair, many have failed at Chelsea. Faye is also a great signing, both very shrewd. Still believe our defence to be vulnerable. Johnston, Taylor, Roz and Enrique have ZERO premiership history, especially as a unit with only Taylor, who is still learning his trade, having experience. We need someone who can learn these lads. Deco is a pipedream and to be honest, I dont think playing for a gritty Newcastle side, which is what we are at the moment, would unlock the best out of him. Personally think he would sulk alot especially considering the nature of our game. If he cant get his funk on for Barcelona, then leave him. He is spiralling. We should only be signing players which are either unhappy at a bigger club or want to move UP to a bigger club in Newcastle. Deco would be in decline, and I seriously think we would take a loss. Emre is a quality player, give him the chance especially with Butt and Geremi keeping it together behind him. Im disapointed Sam hasnt been able to get the experienced centreback he so often cited as his prime target. Why Ramage, Carr and Baba are still at the club for, is another concern. ALL THREE are quite simply hitting above their weight. I couldnt careless if Ramage is local, SO AM I and 50,000 fans at home games, for me thats enough. Personally however, I would buy Glen and Faye, put Geremi as rightback with Glen as backup. Meaning midfield we could put Barton, Emre and Butt. With Nzogbia getting chances in place of Emre and or Enrique depending on form/opposition and Duff competing with Milner.

seee thats wat makes players great.it brings out the best of the players.look at the way babayaro used to play just coz he knew he was the only person in that position but now i dont he will have anything to say trust me.he might not even get back to the squad.we should sell him off.he was a good player at chelsea coz there was competition for places.

guys i think we need 2 more defenders.like big sam says.as long as they are not costing much.we get faye who is versatile.about a creative midfielder i dont think we need to buy a new one coz we have both burton and emre who i believe are good lads.so in that area chapter closed.they will be back as long as we dont loose our concentration.its better we get people who are used to the premiership than going to other leagues where it will take them some time to get used.oba was frustrated coz i could see it in his eyes but i think that will make him fight harder next time by scoring goals.viduka scored a brilliant goal gosh.maybe marins and owne should do the same too if they want to start games and maybe stay on.another guy is ameabi i think he should be given time to play too

I think Oba might be suffering of a bit of the Owens. Remember how Zog reacted when Duff was brought in last year? Yes its the other way around as Oba was bought to cover Owen but you get the drift. I think he'd like to get the chance to play with Owen and not always be his replacement and I hope Sam gives him this chance.

Shearer 4pm how dare you - first us newcastle fans are accused of anti muslim chanting and then you have the cheek to see the funny side of poor Kieron Dyers terrible situation.. sorry i cant take it any more ive gotta get off the floor and put some dry pants on!

I hope west ham is close enough to ipswich for his family to visit him in his hour of need - maybe he should've moved even closer to home!

Just think a championship player has done what many geordies have wanted to do every friday and saturday night on the quayside - and he wont even get done for assault - nice one!

Out of all the right backs mentioned i beleive that only Friedrich is good enough and the type of caliber player we should be aiming for. Hoyte, Johnson and ryan taylor are all medicore players. I also hope we sign Diop so he can replace Butt as DM.

I really have a problem naming the right back we need, i could say Zaccardo or Lahm but that properly wont happen and i must admit that im not jumping up and down at the prospect of landing either Faye, Johnson or Diarra. But then again, if u had asked me about centre backs before Sam came i properly wouldnt name Rozehnal and Cacapa and they both look class acts so i guess its a question of "in Sam we trust"...

Dear Len Smith, I am going to assume that you would rather our players were happy to be substituted off then? I would rather our players showed some passion and were pissed off if subbed unless injured. I know I was never happy to be subbed but you do realise the reason, just doesnt meen you need to be happy about it.

As others have said players are under instructions to go down the tunnel. Now if he stormed off down the tunnel like the media, and those more gullible fans who believe all they read, said then why would he shake the managers hand?

I think in short being unhappy about being subbed is a good thing, as long as you realise why, which is fairly obvious.

german league is very different from the english alot less physical and because we have injurys we need someone to come in stright away with prem experience not like enrique where we have cover and he needs time we have no, one at right back to cover except geremi that will leave a gap in the midfield

Lamesley Mag ,Johnson wasn't all that brilliant at West Ham he only played a handful of senior games for them, but was hyped up by the press because he was English young and wasn't awful.Chelsea, because they suddenly came into a lot of money and there backers had no knowledge of football bought anybody that was being highlighted in the press, infact if they had read the Express at the time they would have bought Princess Di.As you can tell I'm not a fan and there must be someone out there better than Johnson.
