Faye Finally Signs for Newcastle

Finally, after over a day of complete silence on incoming transfers, Newcastle have announced they have signed Abdoulaye Faye from Bolton.

The 29-year-old Senegal star has penned a three-year deal at St.James’ Park. It was certainly worrying for Newcastle fans as the announcement from the club came after midnight Friday, which is the official transfer deadline.

No transfer fee was announced but the fee is understood to have been around ₤2M

Abdoulaye Faye – finally signed for Newcastle

Big Sam has been pursuing Faye for weeks and the transfer has dragged on as Bolton seemed to drag their feet as they didn’t want to lose their utility defender. But Faye turned down a good offer from Bolton a week or so ago as he had his heart set on joining his old boss Sam Allardyce at Newcastle.

Faye, who will provide competition at both center-back and defensive midfield and can also play right-back, was finally given permission earlier in the week to complete his protracted £2M transfer from Bolton to Newcastle. It’s finally been completed.

Since Newcastle don’t have another game after tomorrow until September 17th, it will give Faye a good two weeks to get used to things at the club. This summer Sam has brought in 8 players so far Viduka, Barton, Geremi, Rozehnal. Cacapa, Smith, Enrique, and Faye. We think these are all strong players and will significantly improve the squad Sam inherited in May. Gone should be the days when Newcastle’s defense was the weak link.

Newcastle were also expected to sign Habib Baye from Marseilles yesterday, and Habib was reported to be in Newcastle to complete the deal, but no news yet from Newcastle management on Beye.

Comments welcome.

Anyone watching Sky news?? The presenter mentioned the Faye & Beye deal last, every other single signing they have made a big deal about and spent a few minutes discussing it. So far they havent even put up a ticker saying ‘BREAKING NEWS BEYE & FAYE SIGNS FOR TOON’ yet theyve edone it for Kenny Miller, HYEON, O’NEILL. INFACT EVERY SINGLE PLAYER APART FROM US!

i thought i was paranoid at their anti-toon coverage but you cannot deny this.

best set of defenders for a very long time, and edmilson in jan so all in all very good Big Sam, well done, though try and get it sorted a bit quicker next time as most of us were having palpatations! oh and how amusing that sky sports spent most of the day outside everton who signed no one, and west ham who only signed another one of our cast offs and a rubbish wigan striker, and dont even mention the smogs, all that time that poor reporter spent there!

I have give up with sky sports news it’s gone right down the ******* or (toilet!)

They will all soon jump on the bandwagon again e.g. The Keegan Era! and to a lesser extent The ‘Uncle’ Bob era.

It’s great news that we have signed Faye and Beye I really think that’s our defence sorted for at least 3 years now.

You will always get a delay with work permits. You know what to expect next time!

Roll on January. Let’s get some points in the bag and in January sign a quality out and out right winger. Who knows where we will be by then!

    A’way the lads! 🙂

Beye Faye Cacapa Taylor Rozenhal Enrique Geremi Carr N’Zogbia

That is not a bad set of players who can all play at the back this season, I don’t think I’ve seen as strong a Newcastle defence in a long time.

I don’t see Faye being selected much this season in the starting 11 but used as a substitute as BSA knows how versatile this guy can be.

Experienced player who will improve the squad at Newcastle United.
