The squad has strength in depth and the next few months will be a period of getting to know each other and seeing how they gel as a team.

Looking forward to seeing Barton in action as he’s a tremendous prospect and believe he’ll break the Lampard/Gerrard English partnership as it’s well known, those 2 can not play together.

It will be interesting to see how Duff performs under BSA as he’s a world beater on his day. We have players with quality, we’ve just never had a defence until now!

I say “let’s keep our feet on the ground” – the worst thing we can do this year is create false expectations and with them, pressure on the team. I hope to have heard the last of the boos for the home team at SJP that this sort of hype fosters. A bit of realism is what will stop people taking the p!ss out of us, not Euro-qualification. I’m really hopeful for the season but we should be delighted if we sneak into Europe next season, even if that’s through the Intertoto. The majority EXPECTING that we will is just setting ourselves up … again!

With the transfer window now shut we should not be talking about who we should be bringing in come january.But looking at who is here now and how the squad will develop together.If big Sam thought he needed another midfielder or striker then they would have already been bought before the transfer window closed.Their is now strength in depth and quality in the squad ,something we have not had the last few seasons. personaly i think we will finish 3or 4 this campagin.

The best thing about the current situation is that most of the core players are there,if we do business in january and next summer i cant really see more than 5 or 6 players coming in or out over the next 2 transfer windows.

I said Demy De Zeeuw. Recently compared to Van Bommel and can play no the wing. Happy with the strikers and Feinduno aint an out and out striker more of a forward/attacking midfielder, seen him many times for Saint Etienne.
