Newcastle To Let Emre and Babayaro Leave in January

Emre has today said he would like to leave Newcastle in January and return to his old Galatasaray in Turkey. Seems that Emre cannot see himself getting many games at Newcastle with the new players Sam has brought into the club.

We don’t think Sam will stand in his way and while he’s busy letting players leave in January he should make sure we find another club for Babayaro. Celestine never seems available to play for the club so we will not miss him.

Emre – wants to leave Newcastle in January for Galatasaray

This is what Emre told the Sunday Sun today:

“I want to go back to Galatasaray, and they want me,”

Galatasaray’s vice-president Adnan Polat said in response:

“This is a transfer we can do in January.”

Emre, who turned 27 years old just last Friday, was thought to be Turkey’s best-ever young player when he rose through the ranks at Galatasaray just after Graeme Souness was manager there.

It looks like Emre doesn’t think much of his chances of making the first team at Newcastle and it has to be said that he is probably too small to fit into a Sam Allardyce midfield. However, we are disappointed that Emre seems unwilling to fight for his place at Newcastle. There again, that being the case, it’s probably best that he leaves the club – as long as Newcastle get at least what they paid for him, which was £3.8M. However, that has to be doubtful if he returns to Galatasaray, who are successful but not a particularly rich club.

Emre has only been at Newcastle for 2 years and has been on the injury table far too much if the truth be told and Sam Allardyce is only too well aware of the players at Newcastle who are always injured and don’t contribute enough.

We think Sam will be willing to sell Emre in January and he’ll also try to get something for Babayaro who again is never available for the club and whose contract runs through this summer. Then Sam can bring in another midfielder, of his own choice, and we’re sure he already has a few of those lined up.

Comments very welcome.

Good news all around. Babayaro is surplus and always has been, and Emre whilst talented, has never shown the desire or workrate required from premiership midfielders. Whenever I watched him play his reluctance to track his man led to all sorts of problems for our defence. Hopefully Carr will join them and with good replacements BS will have given us one of our strongest ever squads!

if Sam Allardyce is only too well aware of the players at Newcastle who are always injured and don’t contribute enough then Duff MUST be sold ASAP, lets be honest will we miss him? even when he is ‘fit’ hid contribution is not the highest.

carr/baba/emre seem to be next in line for the chop at nufc.

simply because of their repetative fitness problems.

carr leaving would give taylor another position he can play so he can get more games. hes very good at rb imo. also with geremi being able to play rb and zog lb id say were covered in defence. apart from the ACN but i cant see any point buying anyone simply becuase a couple of defenders will be away for a month. maybe sam will loan someone as cover, or possibly keep carr on until the summer unless he recieves a good offer for him.

duff will have to prove his fitness/ability to handle sams methods or he will be going as well come january or the summer.

hopefullly in jan it will be 3 out and 2 in minimum. with the emphasis on quality and not quantity. and duff staying/proving his fitness and getting back to his old self.

    rb – beye/geremi

    ch – taylor/cacapa/roz/faye

    lb – enrique/zog

thats enough defenders and we have edgar/ramage when fit for emergency cover.

i can see edmilson being targeted again if hes fit. and we need a creative mf player to take the burden of barton as emre should be doing that but seems he doesnt want too.

I’m not sure, I would’ve liked him to get his head down and give it a go, I think he could’ve been something special alongside 2 of Geremi/Butt/Smith who could carry out the defensive duties and let Emre push on as he enjoys. Would prefer to keep him, if anything to rotate with Barton when he gets back, but if he wants to leave, then I guess its useless having an unsettled player on our hands…

I like Emre. Despite not being the tallest of players, he has the spark, energy and creativity in midfield that we need. But like you say, if he doesn’t want to be here then he should leave.

I’m a little disappointed with his attitude after the support that all three managers have shown since his time here.

If he leaves then Newcastle will need a similar player to him. There has been discussion about Deco, but I feel he might see NUFC as a step down and there is no place for that attitude here… Joe Cole would be my choice but I doubt he would be willing to leave Chelski for us.

With regards to Babs, I think if he stays fit he is a reasonable back up for left back, but certainly nothing more. Again, I feel if he leaves then there would need to be a replacement bought in. Two players are needed for every position on the pitch if we are to succeed at all.

    I am sad 🙁 .
Imo Emre is a great player, he’s our most creative player at the moment.
I was very happy when he signed and will be a sad day when (if 😉 ) leaves, let’s hope that Sam convinces him to stay, imo he does have a place in our midfield.

However if he leaves we have two options :
    1) Agree with Ed that Galata are not that rich, however they cought up 4.5M Euros for Lincoln so they can get another 2-2.5 afterall Emre is still a legend in Galatasaray.

    2) We could swap him although there aren’t many players in Galata squad we could use (too bad Appiah playes for Fenerbahce), we have Tobias Linderoth and wonderboy Arda Turan (he could solve our right winger problem hmm) and maybe Lincoln.

Will remember Emre for his goal against Sunderland a few seasons ago.

He’s done very little else and don’t expect him getting too many games this season. So let’s sell him to the highest bidder and bring in a decent replacement; i.e. Joe Cole would be a knock-out on Tyneside!

Babayaro and Carr will likely leave in the January transfer window also as they’ll be given very few opportunities to play under the BSA regime.

We have cover at RB with Beye, Taylor, Edgar and Geremi, but Babayaro may need to be replaced.

Agree with Lamesley Mag Joe Cole would be massive if he joined, he’s unsettled at Chelsea and more accessible then Deco or some other ”Galactico” .

Great news, i forget how many years Emre has been with us but the only but of brilliance ive ever seem him do for us was the free-kick winner against the mackems.

hope we recoup some of the money we wasted on Emre.

I think this is a good decision – it is well known that both players are overpaid and don’t play nearly enough to make theses wages worthwhile. Knowing Sam he’ll have someone cheaper already lined up who’s paid less as well.

Emre is a star for me, he is a match winner, i dont think it is true, what the papers says today, because Emre did’t complain when he was in Inter, Emre is a real fighter. I know we will se him play the part of the next 3-4 matches ;).

im not sure how people can call Emre ‘class’ they must of been watching a newcastle team in another dimension or something because ive seen most games over the past 3 seasons and Emre has hardly done anything to impress anyone.

we need a proper midfield schemer.

    *cough* riquelme *cough*

@Rich : U have to look before NUFC time to find Emre’s brilliance. The EPL is not for him, he’s to weak and small, he always gets bullied and lands on his ass.
But before he came to us he was astonishing at Galatasaray and Inter. He’s a legend in Galata it’s just that the EPL doesn’t suit him, he’s not to fast, not very agile and not to strong, however u could see flashes of brilliance when he was given space, free-kick agaisnt Blunderland, goal against Reading etc.

As for Riquelme, no way. We might as well buy emre back, EPL is not the place for Ronaldinho, Riquelme, Aimar type of players, who play AM stay up most of the time lack pace and their only role is to give the assist and score from distance. Very few English clubs use playmakers and Riquelme would be run over in the EPL, he lacks pace and will be given no place for his dribbles.
If we get someone we would need an all around midfielder, something like Diego, or Steven Gerrard, Scholes, people who can tackle too and are strong……………….something like JOEY BARTON!!!
    i rest my case.

i’m ok with emre, carr and babayaro leaving..we have too many players for not so many matches… competition is healthy, but you have to look at players first…theisr happines… 10 midfielders is just too much… plus sam said he’s not a fan of squad rotation system…

I agree Emre is a good player, im not saying he isnt i just said i dont see how any Toon fans can say he was a class act at Newcastle.

Again, i agree i saw him play some amazing football at Inter & Galatasary, but the only moment i can remember him replicating this for us was the winning goal against the Mackems.

Emre didnt do much for us IMO, i agree that was down to the nature of the EPL.

i still think we need options in the centre of the park, and i think we lack a certain creative spark, Barton will hopefully be amazing for us but hes a different sort of player i think.

Maybe we could steal Giovani from Barca?? 😀

Don’t agree with Riquelme. His attitude sucks and goes missing sometimes. Someone said Babs was on 60k, if that’s true that’s far too much but I thought he was on 30k. Either way, he really hasn’t shown what he can do and what he did at Chelsea although his attitude has improved immensely.

I’m not bothered at all about Carr. His only reason for being in the squad as far as I’m concerned is being Shay’s mate and giving him a reason to stay with us!! Other than that, he’s too old, too slow and loses concentration… think Titus in seven years.

I would be upset about Emre going; his contribution to games is so important. He doesn’t score much but his assists (if the strikers HAD put the ball in the net – yes, Shola YOU!) were plentiful and I think he could flourish in a 4-3-3

That being said, not too keen on having players in the squad that don’t want to be here, especially now when the mood is so high and everyone seems to be enjoying themselves!

Emre is a world class player imo. But his preferred style of play, where he gets space and time on the ball to pick out a killer pass is better suited to the spanish/italian league. Besides he gets muscled out almost too often and doesnt have the pace required as a creative midfielder in the epl. Agree with toonking bout riquelme. Classy playmakers like him just dont suit the epl, especially not with a DM tracking him and breathing down his neck constantly. Standing and waiting for the ball in the final third is just inviting a tackle over here. He’ll never have the time to turn on the ball, yet alone pick out a creative pass. Deco will be suited to this league tho, as he operates in central midfield as a CM. Similiar player to arteta, where he will at least get a bit more time on the ball and make runs from deep.

I know their next to no chance of us stealing Dos Santos, but if we did i think because hes so young and talanted he could get used to the Prem, i mean hes years younger than Fabregas but just as good IMO.

INfact, why dont we just try and steal Fabregas to replace Emre :-p

Emre should go to Bayern Munich if they are still interested in him.. the German League being a much higher profile than Turkey. Plus could get a much better price from Bayern than a Turkish side, and Emre would likely get a better salary too. So, we should alert Bayern now rather than later, and also get Lucio as a straight swap. I will talk to Ashley about this now.

Cesc, despite his age, is the best midfield playmaker in the world right now, its hard to believe because of his age, but who is as reliable to make a killer pass as him??? the guy NEVER wastes a pass, i aint seen him waste a pass since early last season and i watch Arsenal almost as much as Newcastle due to my girl being a Gooner

I just want to say that newcastle never understood what sort of player emre is..

In a team which is constructed for him… he would be amazing..

He is running the turkish national team .. but you think he is not enough for newcastle?:)..
maybe you have the wrong system?..

of corse he was injured.. and had some problems..but it’s still emre!

if he has all the responsibility.. and all rights on the field.. no one could stop him !

Galatasaray with emre and lincoln vs Newcastle

    try to stop:))))

but I know emre and I know the papers.. he would never give up so he will still waste his time at newcastle.. :/

players like emre are very rare.. maybe 5-10 on this planet… they win games! then when you need it!

greetings from a fanatic gala-fan hope to get him back! and guys prepare for
!GALATASARAY 2010! YOUR NIGHTMARE IS BACK AGAIN
