Czech defender David Rozehnal who had another solid game for his country in yesterday’s easy 3-0 win at Sam Marino has talked about making his stay at Newcastle United a long one following his £2.9M transfer from PSG.
The center-back has played in ever Premier League game for Newcastle this season and is obviously enjoying his time on Tyne-side. He is playing extremely well for Newcastle and has to rank as one of Big Sam’s best transfers in the summer.
David Rozehnal – loving his time at Newcastle
“I would not be against a longer stay, with my wife we would like to settle down finally.”
At 27 years-old David feels he is in the best league in the world at the peak of his abilities. Rozehnal signed a four-year-deal when he joined Newcastle in the summer but wants to stay longer. His wife recently gave birth to their first child.
Rozehnal went on:
“So far I have been telling myself that I was doing gradual steps to better clubs and better competitions.â€
“But now I am playing in the world’s best league and I would not mind if I stayed there for a longer time.”
The Czech international has certainly taken to the Premiership in his stride and has all the attributes to be outstanding in England. David says he has found it easy to adapt to the English way of playing and says he enjoys the competitiveness as he went on:.
“The Premier League has fantastic commitment, fighting spirit and high tempo,”
Rozehnal made his debut for Czech Republic 2004 and played yesterday in their easy win against San Marino. Certainly he is a stalwart in the Czech defense and will be in the Newcastle defense – for a long time to come – if David has his way. We don’t think there’s any reason for Newcastle to extend his contract at this point since it still has a full 4 years to run. But we think David knows great things are just around the corner for Newcastle United and he obviously loves playing in front of 52,000 Geordies every week – and he knows it doesn’t get much better than this.
And he’s a sensible lad, and wants to stay, and you can’t argue with that 😀
