milner has more experience than taylor, so it makes sense to offer a better contract to him. Although 30% more seems alot!

I just wish these discussions went on behind closed doors. I like football the sport not the soap opera.

Lennon still needs to learn how to cross. Milner has got the hang of that over the last 1/2 seasons. Milner also works his butt off, in his favour.

ok i suppose you have a point, i definitely agree with you about Pennant being a twat…but he is a talented one. i still do not feel Milner could be better than Lennon, but then again i rate Lennon very VERY highly, i think his dribbling skills are amazing, the way he shifts his body to beat players is also very impressive…even if he does looks like a fairy when he does it lol!
i only hope your right about Milner because just like you i would love to see him be a trully great english player, he certainly has the right attitude

Little Theo is the only one that I would say has the potential to be truly “World Class”. But he is likely to become a striker in the mold of Mr Henry, so won’t be much competition for the likes of JM.
Lennon and Pennant are both good players – they both possess a lot of pace. Whether they become great or not remains to be seen. I don’t like Pennant as a person, I think he’s a little twat actually.
I think JM has more potential to improve than either of those two – I think what we’ve seen of them both so far could be as good as it gets (remember Dyer’s England debut against Luxembourg??). JM will never be the same sort of player as them, but that’s not to say he can’t forge a successful England career all the same.

to say Milner is as good as Bentley is debateable i suppose, but you can not seriously say he is as good as Aaron Lennon, or Jermaine Pennant, those two are arguably two of the best English out and out wingers we have right now, that really seems like your letting your passion for the toon get the better of you…but like you said to me, its our own opinions right

dragoner – I’m not sure if anyone has mentioned the phrase “World Class” apart from you. In my opinion it’s a phrase that bandied about far too frequently. How do you define “World Class”? If you mean by representing your country at International level, then yes I believe JM will almost definitely reach that level. If you mean one of the best in the World ie. Ronaldinho, CRonaldo – then no, I doubt he will ever reach those heights – very few players do.
To compare him with Joe Cole and SWP is unfair as they are both 5 years older than him and have already established themselves as first team regulars. As for Pennant, Bentley and Lennon – I would say JM is if not already on par with those he soon will be, now that he has the chance to cement himself as a regular starter in our team. And he has already proven he has a much better temperament for the game than the first two.
You are of course entitled to your opinion – but I wouldn’t write young Jimmy off just yet – the lad has all the attributes to go a very long way.

ye i do watch matches, and i didnt say he wasn’t a good player, but who could he replace in the England squad? SWP Aaron Lennon? Joe Cole?…the answer is no, he simply is not as good as these players

dragoner – every one rates Milner so highly because he is a hell of a player. Do you not watch that many games? Milner is one of our most consistent performers, and his commitment to the club is second to none – which is even more impressive given the way the club have messed him about in the past.

Milner isn’t just one for the future, he’s one for the here and now. To compare Milner, Taylor and N’Zogbia and say they should all be on the same money just because they are roughly the same age and represent their countries at the same level just doesn’t make sense.
