Newcastle Still Top Of Injury League

We remain top of the PhysioRoom.Com League Table unfortunately with 9 injuries.

We’ll keep checking on our injury situation periodically over the season to see if it’s trending better under Big Sam’s new training and fitness team.

You can always get the injury situation as part of our Stats page – which is across the top of our site.

Celestine Babayaro – groin strain since March – still to see him in our new strip

Here’s our current injury situation – which is always covered by PhysioRoom.Com along with the other Premiership teams.

S Ameobi Groin Strain no return date very doubtful
Cacapa Groin Strain no return date very doubtful
M Viduka Ankle/Foot Injury 29th Sep 07 doubtful
M Owen Groin Strain 22nd Oct 07
P Ramage ACL Knee Injury Apr 08
S Carr Hamstring Injury 7th Oct 07
C Babayaro Groin Strain 7th Oct 07
J Barton Metatarsal Fracture 7th Oct 07
D Duff Sprained Ankle 3rd Nov 07

The last column is how likely they are to be fit for the next game on Saturday. We still have no return dates for Shola and Cacapa and indeed these may just be niggles. Both may be fit for Saturday but they are listed as very doubtful while Mark Viduka is rated as doubtful.

That probably means our strikers against Manchester City will be Smith and Martins, with N’Zogbia and Milner on the wings. Certainly that combination played great in the last 20 minutes against West Ham United – so that’s the beauty of having a good squad – you can still field a strong side even with 9 injuries – unlike the last 2 seasons.

We keep noticing that Babayaro’s return date gets moved back all the time and is always about a week or two away – right now it’s moved from 23rd Sep back to 7th Oct. We’d love to know what’s going on here with Babayaro’s injury and it’s interesting we’ve never seen Celestine in our new strip yet 😀

We have at least 3 back from injury on 7th October – which is about 2 weeks out.

Comments welcome.

Yeah – would like to know wth is going on with babayaro. The silence on his injury(ies) are more frustrting than knowing his getting a fat wage packet regularly for being MIA.

What’s also interesting is that Carr’s return date to training is the same as Joey’s – is this right? I thought he’d be out for longer (Carr that is)

Nvm with the injuries. Half of them are waste of space. I’m so glad that Ameobi is finally injured. I hate to read his comment and see him playing football. He is USELESS. Judging on last year starting lineup, I found that most of the game we start with Shola + Bramble + Carr are deadly, sure lose! Sam made several mistakes, the most serious one is not letting Ameobi join Boro. He even suggested Ameobi for England! WTF is Sam thinking? One day when England plane crash?

I think that in Jan we should let Shola Steven Carr and Babayaro go any way . Strengthen the squad with more signings .
I saw Deco play last night for Barca against Zaragoza .I doubt he will come to NUFC now but Barca play was awsome . Nice to think we might get to that standard sometime or is that just wishful thinking ??

I doubt it’s wishful thinking Arthur, Ashley has indicated interest in us signing a world class footballer before so I believe it will happen. Soon as we get that eu spot then it will make life easier for Sam/Mort to approach high quality players and come back with a signed contract.
