NUFC.COM are reporting today that they obtained confirmation that long-serving Russell Cushing, along with Ken Slater, have now left Newcastle United Football club. The changes in personnel are still continuing at the club.
We know Russell did a great job in the summer working with new manager Sam Allardyce and Sam frequently thanked him for his hard work.
We are sorry to see Russell leave Newcastle as he does provide club links that reach way back. He joined us in 1972 as assistant secretary from Norwich.

Former Chief Operating Officer Cushing and Finance Director Slater had remained at the club since the mid-May Mike Ashley takeover and provided good linkage between the old and new regimes. We think they did an excellent job for us over the summer, and thought they may stay at the club but they have now moved on.
Russell Cushing was the last link left at the club to the former regime of Lord Westwood, with the less said about that the better. To say Lord Westwood was just hopeless for Newcastle is to give him some benefit of the doubt 😀
Sam Allardyce gave credit to Cushing for his work in the transfer activity that saw the biggest squad overhaul for many seasons at Newcastle and has left us with the best squad we’ve had since the great Bobby Robson was at the club.
We wish both Cushing and Slater all the very best in their new ventures and thank them for their excellent work for Newcastle United.
