Joey Barton Misses Just One More Game

Sma Allardyce’s £5.8M summer signing played a full 45 minutes for the Reserves in their 2-2 draw with his his former club Man City on Tuesday night.

Joey had said last weekend he may be able to make the Everton game but Big Sam countered that by saying it will be 3-4 weeks before Joey is back fully.

But Joey says he understands Big Sam’s reticence to throw him straight back into first-team action too early – but it looks like he’ll be missing just one more game before he’s back – the game at Everton on Sunday. Good news indeed.

Joey Barton – just itching to get back playing in first team

Barton told Newcastle World TV.

“Of course me and the manager have different ideas on when I’m fit because I just can’t wait to get back playing,” ”

But I understand he doesn’t want to take any risks and my next game will probably be for the Reserves against Wigan next Monday when hopefully this time I’ll get 60 or 70 minutes.”

“After that we’ve got two weeks when I can get some good work done on the training ground during the international break.” “But It was great to get back out there against Man City and get 45 minutes under my belt.”

It does seem like Joey will be ready to go at Tottenham in our home game on Monday evening 22nd October. That’s 2 weeks come next Monday so that seems plenty of time to Joey to get rehabilitated and maybe play in some pre-arranged friendlies to help him come back. That’s got to be good news for fans because he will probably only miss one more game.

Joey went on:

“The foot is still a little bit sore but the surgeon said that would be the case when I first started playing again.”

” I spoke to Michael Owen and he had the same injury and he said it would be a bit achy when you first come back because obviously there’s a screw in there.”

“But hopefully when I do come back I’ll bring some goals to the team and I just can’t wait.” “I’ve been in the dressing room with the lads before and after games recently and I’ve become a bit of a full-time supporter,”

“The lads have been taking the mickey but I don’t mind, I’m just happy to offer them my support because there’s a great spirit among the lads.”

As you can see Joey admitted on the video he has been the subject of a fair bit of mickey-taking having become something of a full-time supporter as he follows his United team-mates around the country. Well we really like that – it just shows you how committed Joey is to Newcastle and its future.

Cannot wait for Joey to return – in around 3 weeks yes – but only one game away.

I for one am really looking forward to Joey coming back. I have the feeling that Emre and Joey are gonna turn our season for us this year controlling midfield and supplying nice little through balls instead of booting the ball from defense to attack, so it’s really important for them both to be playing for the remainder of the league.

Its also nice that Joey seems to be bleeding black n white even before hes kicked a competitive ball for us. I really hope to see him in the England set up before to long as its this type of attitude that we need in the English game.

Joey is a geordie, Joey is a geordie, la laa la la, la laaa la la

We need Barton back ASAP as Gerami and Butt too much alike and both lack flare. Good news that Emre played 90 minutes and scored, so let’s hope BSA selects Emre from the start against Everton!

Don’t know if Joey will provide the creative spark we’ve been lacking in midfield just yet, but he will be a welcome change from what has become a pretty dour midfield.

Butt and Geremi just don’t gel in midfield. Niether is much use going forward, while they both naturally want to occupy the same space in the middle and sit just on front of the back 4.

Joey should give us more drive through the middle and support the 2 strikers.

    Can’t wait.

i dont agree that geremi lacks creativity, i watch his game alot and he is intelegent on the ball, rarely give the ball away, unlike butt, and has an eye for a pass, given its not always the best passes in the world. but he is not known for that. remember the first two games of the season, getting forward and making runs into the box, he has not done that recently, there has to be some reason behind that… confidence maybe, i dont know.

we however do need someone like deco who can do the amazing with the ball and play MAGnificent through balls to strikers like owen and martins because they will get soo many goals from that sort of play i am sure of it.
