We are going to do a test run on the Newcastle United Blog is to see if we can get the best team from our readers for the next game Newcastle play.
In this case it’s Everton on Sunday and of course as usual we will have injuries so some players will not be available.
Obviously we need to pick players who are available and you can view the STATS along the top of the site to see the injury list and return dates.
Newcastle United Blog Team of the Week – these guys are probably way too old now
This was an idea from one of our readers. Here’s the section of the comment that put forward the idea yesterday – it’s from Danger Mouse. Oct 2, 2007 at 19:33
One idea that I would like to see you implement is to draw up a list of four or five starting line-ups for people to vote on. Just a quick survey each week until match day.
So here’s the procedure I dreamed up last night:
- A discussion topic is posted at least a week before the match and that is already happening. In this case it’s Newcastle vs Everton Sunday 7th October, 2007 15:00 KO
- Put your potential teams in the Newcastle United Forum before every match. Some of you are already doing this as part of the match discussion.
- Then two days before each game we’ll pick 5 of the best (and different) teams from the forum and put together a poll you can then vote on.
- The day before the match we’ll publish the results of the poll and what our readers have chosen as the best team
- We’ll send the team to Big Sam and expect him to play that team the next day.
Well maybe we’ll not bother with step 5 😀
Can anyone think of a good name for this?   Newcastle United Blog Team of the Week perhaps?
Let’s try it out for 2 or 3 games and see if it works. If it doesn’t we’ll think up something else that does work for us. Thanks and comments always welcome.

Comment #41And if you think we´ll win Everton you are badly mistaken. I just can´t see us winning them unless they´ll have important players missing through injuries or bans. Or if Allardyce makes drastic chances to his first lineup by playing my idea 🙂

GK: Given
RB: Beye
CB:Rozenhal
CB:Taylor
LB:Enrique (came through the reserve game full 90 mins so hopefully starting)
RM:Milner
CM:Geremi(c)
CM:Emre
LM:N’Zogbia
FC:Martins
ST:Viduka (target man)
if like in the game against man city, we can cross the ball in from wide areas, we will get goals. if we just play through the middle like usual, we will not be able to penertrate Evertoin who have Neville, Carsley, Jagielka etc in defensive midfield positions so the only way is to strech Everton and give baines and hibbert problems as milner and n’zogbia are so capable of doing so playin wide is needed to win games at home and not playing through the middle as usual

Comment #43Toonfan1. I like your team selection and well said about playing with width against the toffees. Unfortunately, I have a sneaking suspicion that Faye makes it into the starting 11 either at the expense of Tayls or Emre.
I REALLY hope BSA starts Emre or puts Zogs in the middle as we are cleary missing a driving force from the middle. I have my doubts, BSA is showing no signs of playing creative, flowing, attractive football and starting to get on my tts. Is it too late to bring in Ramos?? I’ll give him a little longer but we need to show some sort of identity on the field, currently the performances are no different than they were under Souness and Roeder.
I digress, but did anyone else see it when THREE of our players collided and fell over against city? I immediately thought back to FFS’s comments about knowing it was time for Souness to go when he saw two of our players collide (pretty sure it was against city as well)….

Comment #44Johann the reason Martins didnt score more goals is he was dropped for Owen who got picked on national form for England, not club form. Martins really did get a raw deal. Now let him have a run of starting more than ONE game and BOOOM, he scores a cracker.
Owen is overated.
