Sam – Cacapa Fit For Everton

Good news for Newcastle fans today as Sam says he expects Claudio Cacapa to be fit for our crucial game with Everton on Sunday.

Sam sings the praises of Caçapa, who we signed on a free tranfer from Lyon during the summer.

The manager also believes the defensive errors on Saturday wouldn’t have happened if Claudio had been in the team.

Claudio Cacapa – great news, he’s available against Everton on Sunday

Sam told today:

“We gave Claudio a test on Saturday morning (before Man City) and he wasn’t ready,” “That, for me, was a big miss because he brings a huge amount of experience, as we’ve seen.”

“The last time he played we beat West Ham 3-1 and we didn’t see that type of defending from anybody at Man City.” “I think he’d have taken a grip of them with just Emile Mpenza up front.”

“He’s have been able to read the situation much better, but it wasn’t to be.” “Claudio has a groin injury but he doesn’t need a hernia operation,” “However, he should be OK for Everton.”

We certainly like Cacapa a lot and believe our top central defense duo will be Rozehnal and Cacapa, once things settle down a little.  Claudio of course has stacks of experience in the European Champions League with Lyon, and has looked class in the Newcastle defense. He was consistently troubled by injury while at Lyon, so we hope that gets fixed by Sam sooner rather than later. We’ll have to keep an eye on his injury situation but it’s excellent news he’s available for Sunday.

Comments welcome.

Good news. Himself and Rozehnal look the most solid combination. They had some trouble with West Ham at times but a few games to develop an understanding is needed.

Would have been interesting to see Faye in there alongside Rozehnal though.

Cacapa is a really good and solid defender. Just what we needed in our team. If we could keep him fit and sign another player of his calibre in January we will have ended our defencive woes at last.
PS> I like Rozehnal also but Cacapa is slighty better. This is the best toon defence I have seen in ten years!! Good Job Sam 😀

Agree with everyone Rozy and Cacapa are the best central defenders we had in the last 10 years, and Cacapa being fit is superb news, cant wait for sunday.

Cacapa is superb. I would like to see Cacapa and Faye play in the centre at the back. I really really like Rozenhal – there are few negatives with him, but I just have a feeling that the strength and premiership experience of Faye alongside Cacapa would be extreemely solid. Add Beye and Enrique as full backs and it’s looking top notch.

But to have a choice between Faye, Rozenhal, Cacapa and Taylor for the 2 centre back positions is grreat.

I do think we missed Cacapa last week against the Arse and City. His experience is vital away from home.

heard a rumour that bsa is looking at Gael Givet for the january transfer window. he would be a good signing because he can play central defence and left back, perfect, i also hear he is a powerful defender, with pace… top

    Givet is good

    1. he just moved to Marseille, highly doubtful he will move again just under half a year
    2. stop searching ‘football transfer rumours’ and clicking on the first one like ive been doing, its utter nonsense, check it for a bit of banter but nout else.

+Givet is also quite short for Sam’s taste, he’s only around 1.80 if i’m not mistaken………………………but then again Sam bought Cacapa too.
    But this is nonsense imo.

Everton are playing a full strength team, are losing 1-0 and being ran ragged, should be well knackered to face us.

Yakubu looked absolutely shocking tonight, as for their defence, who said ours was rubbish? Theres is absolutely shocking and its their first choice, rubbish passes are getting through, emre will have a field day. Also all the players look generally sloppy and tired. After seeing that i cant see less than a toon win.

Fantastic news, then we could play our best CD combination; Cacapa and Roz (dont uderstand the negativism on him, if there is 1 defender who is making a mess of it at the moment then it is Taylor; bad attitude and making stupid mistakes each time he enters a green pitch).

I also would like to see Faye then in the position of Butt; otherwise Cacapa and Faye also can be a very good combination; Cacapa is superb and Faye knows the EPL very good.

    Beye – Roz – Cacapa – Enrique
    Geremi – Faye – Emre – N’Zogbia
    Martins – Viduka

Subs: Harper – Taylor – Millner – Butt – Smith

Everton managed to pull it around in second half, I’m happy to see them win as an English team but they had to work really hard so should be well and truly knackered for Sunday. It’s happened to us so I feel no guilt whatsoever by hoping they are.

great news, a solid back line is what we need to win this game and if we do it will be agreat boost for the next up and coming games.

the everton game looks like a 2-0 win to us. Everton played terrible tonight, terrible defence.
The spurs game looks like a win. They have had a poor start to the season and are defence will choke like aston villas did. we are also at home which will give us a bigger boost.
The reading game is away but it is still looking like a win for us. they just dont look the same since sidwell left.

Last thing, are we still getting edmilson in january if we are is he going to play in the back line or in the mids

I think getting Edmilson will depend largely on how his injury is healing i think if he signs he will be like Faye defensive mid or centre back
