Sam – Emre Unique Player for Newcastle

Sam Allardyce has talked today about Emre, our creative Turkish midfield player, who will be available for selection on Sunday against Everton. Like a number of players at Newcastle Emre’s problem has been injuries in the 2 seasons he’s been at the club.

Yesterday, Emre talked about his willingness to fight for his place at Newcastle this season and we’re impressed with the way players freely admit they are not guaranteed a starting place at Newcastle.

Sam talked today about Emre and thinks he can be a key player for Newcastle this season.

Sam Allardyce – Emre is a unique player for Newcastle

Sam has worked his magic at Newcastle already in terms of players’ attitudes because the players all seem so very positive and committed to the Newcastle cause. We don’t have to mention that has not always been true in the past. Sam talks positively and truthfully about Emre and we already heard yesterday how committed the Turk seems to be to Newcastle.

This is what Big Sam had to say about his little Turkish midfield player:

“In many ways, Emre is unique for us at the moment because of his passing ability and the way he can unlock the back door in teams,” “We will need a player who can do that at times. He has a fantastic eye for a pass and he is also left-footed, which is something different again.”

“He is not the same type of player as the other midfielders and he can definitely bring something extra when he is full fit.” “It’s just a case of getting him fit and keeping him fit.”

“I’ve not got a large enough squad to be thinking about losing any players and I do not want to sell Emre,” “The squad is just about big enough this season, but I will not be looking to lose anyone.”

“Emre’s problems have been injuries. He had an injury at the start of the season, went away on international duty and came back with another little problem which has taken longer than we expected to clear up.”

“He’s just getting back involved, but he will be going away on international duty again next week.” “I just hope, this time, he doesn’t come back injured again. We want to have him fit and available because he adds something different to the squad when he is fit.”

We think Emre can be a big player for us this season and don’t be surprised if Sam works his magic and gets the very best out of the Turk. Emre has only shown flashes of his brilliance at Newcastle during the last 2 years and we think he can do much better. Sam had El Hadji Diouf at Bolton, and the Senegalese had been a similar player to Emre at Liverpool, his former club. Yet when Sam got him to Bolton he not only calmed him down (well at least a little bit :D) but he also made him more consistent and eas able to effectively use his talents. We believe Sam can do the same with Emre – at least we hope so. If he can do that we have a great player on our hands. Emre certainly has seemed committed to the club this season.

Emre – Newcastle’s 47 times capped Turkish midfielder

The 27-year-old came through a full game for the reserves on Tuesday night at Manchester City, scoring a great goal direct from a free kick and was the best player on the field, according to sources at the game.

Sam also insists the 47-times capped Turkish star will not be leaving Tyneside in January, as rumors in the past have suggested. We think that is now very true, but we also need to see some some performances from Emre. It looks like the stage is set for him to be able to produce again for the club – starting Sunday against Everton.

Comments very welcome.

Not convinced Emre will stay after January, but until we get Barton back and buy a consistant play maker, BSA will have to do his magic and get the best out of him. Newcastle need him as neither Butt or Gerami bring creativity to the side……

I like visiting this blog every day and the work put in by the team is tremendous. The one big criticism I have of this site is that the powder-puff analysis.

Here’s an example: “We think Emre can be a big player for us this season”, I mean this has to be qualified. Emre has played over sixty games for United and in that time (even when fully-fit) he has shown himself to be a player who shows flashes of his obvious brilliance but more often that not goes missing for a string of games.

He has shown bad attitude in his dealings with the press, and that attitude can be seen on the pitch as he more often than not rests on his laurels. Emre was jettisoned from Inter for these reasons, he is technically very gifted but overall a lazy player – and at 27 this is not going to change.

He could never be the integral part of a successful team, and that has to be the verdict on Emre. Sam will try to work his techniques on Emre and motivate him, but privately must be hoping to offload him in January or Summer. This is emphasized by the fact that Sam offers small squad size as a reason for not selling Emre, not because he will be a key player.

Anyway – I hope you’ll see my points as constructive criticism because I do love the blog.

I sincerely hope you’re right. My money is he gets a good kicking by the Everton midfield who overrun us. I am getting that SingKing feeling again.

Steve K – its not powder puff at all…. Ed quite clearly states that Emre has been injured too often, however he does have a great talent and under the guidance of BSA he might be able to realise that this season. Thats right on the money if you ask me, especially with the the man management credentials that BSA has. (by the way you even quote Ed’s words on Emre’s “flashes of brilliance ” in you reply post)

To summise for you. Emre has been injured too often but has great skill and this season under BSA he could become a big BIG player for us.

in the mean time Steve you might wanna check out this site

Can’t wait to see Emre playing again. He is entertaining to watch and i think he will offer something going forward, and will always show for the ball. I don’t think Emre gets enough credit for his effort and with the right motivation he can be something going forward and still put in the effort all around the pitch. If emre can play how he did against chelsea last season (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4OAsZQUCFF0) all the time, he can defo b a starter. Good to see sam not selling him , i thought he was too small for him.

Whats all this crap about too small. How big is Jay Jay Okocha hes a f*cken midget. The more small players we keep the better. This means we might be playing some FOOTBALL, keeping the ball on the ground not punting it up to Viduka……Emre is a good player who should be part of our squad!
Look at the squad of the top four they all have players of the calibre of Emre or worse who can do a job when needed!

Dingo – yeah I feel a bit guilty making criticisms because the site is fantastic. But I know Ed is only at the early stages of developing this blog so he would appreciate any comments – even if they may be wayward.

I guess sometimes we have to be realistic – it’s nice to be positive and think Emre will be a big player for us. But in reality he’s a wasted talent, and it’s too late for an attitude re-check. He’s been a disappointment at Newcastle and he really is better off returning to Turkey.

As for the power-puff website, I already visit it every day.
