Big Sam Will Keep Newcastle Attacking

Big Sam talked today about having Newcastle maintain their attacking style at St James’ Park.

Newcastle have yet to be defeated on Tyneside and the game next Monday against Tottenham is not the time to start.

A win then and Newcastle will be in the top 5 and cement a very good start to the season, considering our injuries

Sam Allardyce – will keep attacking when at home at St. James’ Park

However, our lack of creativity at times this season has been a cause for concern for Newcastle fans – but with Emre and Barton both available for selection we don’t think Sam should be too worried in the area.

Sam, ever keen on statistics said today:

“We had 19 attempts at goal against Everton in our last game, 10 of them on target, and we scored three very good goals in the end.”

“We dominated the last game apart from the start of the second half against Everton but we got control back and kept control.”

“We need to keep on improving defensively and not concede sloppy goals.” “If we can do that it will put us in good stead for the next couple of months.”

“Scoring goals was a problem towards last season but we have laid that to rest.” “Obviously we scored three against Everton and three against West Ham in our last two home games.

“We still have to tighten up at home and away, and defensively we would like to be more solid, it’s an area in which we need to be better.

“The injuries have caused a bit of disruption in the team, but as a squad we have to stick together.”

Allardyce had a good team bonding session last week by sending the remaining squad to Keswick, in the Lake District, for relaxation. The sessions included activities such as orienteering and the players seemed to enjoy their time away.

Sam is right when he says once his coaching and medical team also gets their feet firmly on the ground at the club, it will contribute on the playing side. Sam added:

“With the staff it takes a long time normally but we are doing very well.” We are off to a good start, I am happy with the points tally we have.”

We have to say where we are positioned in the league right now with 4 wins in the first 8 games and only 2 defeats, we think it’s a good position and represents a good start to the season. Considering Sam has introduced so many new players into the first team, it will take a bit of time to settle in. Once that happens, hopefully by December when we have 8 games, we think we will only get better and 3-4 new additions in January will not hurt either.

Comments very welcome.
