Mark Viduka is all set to return to the Newcastle squad following his calf muscle injury, and that’s good news for Newcastle manager, Sam Allardyce. Sam needs some good news this week, after all the doom and gloom following two successive defeats for the Tyneside club.
The 32-year-old Australian has been out of action since the Manchester City defeat on 29th September, after slightly straining a calf muscle in the game at Eastlands.
Mark Viduka - should make a big difference on Saturday at Sunderland
Viduka makes a big difference to the Newcastle attack, and gives it a lot more balance, and it’s really good news that he will be able to get some good training in before Saturday’s game. Mark has scored three goals in six matches for Newcastle so far, and Big Sam is obviously very happy to welcome back his first signing as Newcastle manager, back in June.
Sam said today:
“Mark has trained this week and is available for selection this weekend,”
Short and sweet from Sam, but we expect Mark to start on Saturday and we think he’ll make a big difference in Saturday. Viduka was of course on target in the first North East derby of the season at his old club Middlesbrough, firing United’s second goal in the 2-2 draw at the Riverside stadium in August.
We would expect Mark to pair up, probably with Michael Owen, who is due some goals, now he is fully match fit again.
