Daniel Carvalho da Silva, shortened to Daniel Carvalho, plays for CSKA Moscow, and is an attacking midfielder with the Russian club. As you may expect at this time of the year, there are lots of players being linked with Newcastle United, and Daniel is one of them.
In this case Chelsea, Tottenham and Newcastle are all said to be tracking the attacking midfielder, with several other top European clubs also keen on the Brazilian International.
Daniel Carvalho – 5′ 11″ Brazilian International attacking midfielder
Carvalho is believed to want to leave the Russian club in search of bigger things, and is said to have instructed his agent to get him a new club during the January transfer window. He certainly seems to have the skills, and is 24 years old and stands 5′ 11″ in height.
Here’s a little information on the Brazilian – we’ll keep tabs on those players we are said to be interested in, and then see who we really go after, once the window opens on January 1st.
Daniel Carvalho da Silva was born in 1983 in Pelotas, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. He plays for CSKA Moscow of Russia, and the Brazilian national football team. He is a strong attacking midfielder and in 2005 became the first foreign player to be named Russian Footballer of the Year.
He was capped by Brazil for the first time in the friendly between Brazil and Norway on August 16, 2006 and scored on his debut. He has so far played for Brazil 4 times and scored 2 goals.
Carvalho’s brilliant play during the 2005 UEFA Cup was the key to success of CSKA Moscow, who won the competition, defeating Sporting Lisbon in the Final. Sporting Lisbon beat Newcastle United in the quarter final that year.
CSKA Moscow became the first Russian club to ever win a UEFA competition. Daniel was Man of the Match in the final and involved in all three CSKA’s goals. Carvalho has played for CSKA Moscow 64 times since 2004, and scored 9 goals. Daniel previously played for Internacional of the Brazilian league. Internacional is based in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, in Brazil and Carvalho appeared for them 66 times scoring 7 goals.

Comment #4How much will he cost? 9 goals in 64 starts in a mediocre league is hardly a great goal to game ratio….

Comment #8Alex Brett – get Cacapa to sell the toon to him – couldn’t score against bottom club derby, got a luck draw agains the unwashed of sunderland and could get a shot on goal while being humiliated by liverpool… im sure he’ll be rushing to the airport!

Comment #11I bet there is money in the pot for January and a huge wedge is already spent.
I was getting confused with the other Carvahlo and thinking everyone was suggesting another Chelsea player. (not too successful so far). If he is any good would think he isn’t coming to us, yet.

Comment #13I don’t know him, but it sounds that he can be a usefull player who can solve our inspiration problems in midfield. I also hope we will go after Arshavin, cause IMO he is a very good player.
I’m a bit afraid that if we keep losing there will be no players on their way to the Toon, because they don’t want to end up in a team which is slipping away from European football. The month December will be so important for the team.
