Beye – We Need Win Against Arsenal

One of the players we have liked this season, and think has done a reasonable job of adjusting to the Premiership, is Senegal and former Marseilles defender, Habib Beye.

He was one of the few players to play a decent game against Liverpool, and he had another solid game at Blackburn on Saturday, when he again had to fill in for the injured Abdoulaye Faye.

Habib Beye
– we need win against Arsenal

Habib Beye was realistic in his assessment of the defeat at Ewood Park on Saturday, as he talked to the Newcastle Evening Chronicle this afternoon, but he is well aware that it was yet another defeat, and things will need to be turned around very soon.

Habib is also very appreciative of the Newcastle fans who were again excellent last Saturday, and the Senegalese would like to reward them with a win against Arsenal – that would be nice. 😀

With Abdoulaye Faye being injured yet again, Beye was switched to the center of defense, like he was used to good effect against Liverpool, and Habib gave another battling performance, but he was clearly not happy with the result.

Beye told the Evening Chronicle this afternoon:

“We need to pick things up and I am very disappointed with the situation.” “The dressing room was an unhappy place. Arsenal now is a big game and we need to do a good job. It is a big game for everybody and we need to go out and win.”

“It was better, but we know it was not a win.” “We controlled parts of the game and we were unlucky with some of our chances, but we needed a clean sheet.”

“We have conceded three goals and you cannot expect to win if you do that. We created a lot of opportunities, but we emerged disappointed afterwards.”

The injury to Faye and Carr has put Newcastle back to the top of the PhysioRoom.Com Premier Injury League Table, where we now have 8 injuries as follows.

S Carr Hamstring Injury no return date
A Faye Calf Muscle Strain no return date
  	S Taylor Back Injury 5th Dec 07
M Owen Thigh Muscle Strain 15th Dec 07
C Babayaro Back Injury no return date
Cacapa Knee Injury 5th Dec 07
P Ramage ACL Knee Injury Apr 08
  	D Duff Sprained Ankle 8th Dec 07

Beye is hoping his Senegal team mate, Faye, is back soon because we certainly need him since he’s probably been our best defender this season.

Habib continued:

“The injuries are not good for the team but that is football.” “Sometimes players get injured and I hope Abdoulaye is back soon.”

“I don’t think his injury was too bad, but we will keep our fingers crossed for him.” “Now we have to pick ourselves up and get on with the job.”

Funny things happen in football and we’ll just have to support the lads on Wednesday night, and hope they can get some kind of result for the fans. But now is not the time to turn against the team – they and Sam need all the help they can get, there’s not much argument there.

Comments welcome.

6 defenders out injured, whats going on down the training pitch… change where they train quick and get to the bottom of what is happening to make them soo injury prone.

were cacapa faye et al injury prone before joining us… i dont think so…

i like beye i just wish the midfield wouldnt give the ball away in dangerous areas so often so it would give beye the licence to support the wingers and get crosses in, we have not done that in a long while…

team for wednesday if above are still injured…

a draw would stop the rot, i think i’d be happy with that no matter how we play. not expecting to play well because that’s not going to happen, get a result by hook or by crook, pray for luck!

the only way to stop arsenal is to get our own game up to speed, trying to stop them passing around will be fruitless, they’ve learned how to cope with physical sides.

We might get a draw or even a win on wednesday but mind you it won’t be pretty that’s for sure.

wsq i disagree, the gooners have not learned how to cope with physical sides and on top of that they will be missing their 3 best players.

Villa almost had them yesterday to bad they only started playing in the second half.
We need to look at that game and the Bolton – Manure game, if everything goes well the game will be exactly like those and we might get a point or 3, but the key to beating them is to stop them playing, foul them, push them around, be strong and determined, we might pick up a few cards but it will be worth it.

49 hours 45 mins to go!!

Tom_Tom i’m sorry to say this but i’m 100% certain Butt will be in the team. I don’t like him at all but he might be guy we need to stop Gooners midfield.

I’m sorry for all Newcastle fans…
When Arsenal and Newcastle played in the Carling Cup Arsenal won 2-0! And then we had our reserv/youth team! Now we’re coming with the BIG GUNS, so i hope you don’t expect too much from your team…
Everything can happen in football but you’ll have to play top of your skills (even better than that if possible) to beat Arsenal on wednesday!
I realize that you have a long injury list but Arsenal were without Fabregas, Hleb and van Persie against Villa and still outplayed them a big part of the game…
If you put 4 goals behind Almunia on wednesday you might get a win, cause Arsenal will put at least 3 behind Given…

Walrus Sam deserves everything he gets; Newcastle will be the new Bolton simply HOOFING the ball. You have no chance on Wednesday; our reseves beat you in the Carling Cup. ToonKing get realistic next season you’ll be joining Spurs in the Championship.

We all need to get behind the team for Wednesday’s game. Before the game, somebody also needs to point out to Sam that we’ve only lost 1 in the last 6 at home to the @rse and that with a much more inexperienced and injury ravaged team gained a creditable draw last time out.

Back the team and pressure the manager has to be the only way forward for us. If you’re not backing the team what the hell are you doing? ; and if as a manager you can’t respond to presssure, I’d also ask the same question.

game on – more ways than one for Wed night.

Also Re Habib Baye: If we’d had the same degree of effort, application and skill from some of the other outfield players as we’ve seen from him – we’d be in less of a flap right now. I’d take both him and Faye as better buys than some of the mooted first choice options.

hardly all of them are money grabbing sicknotes, fair enough they are money grabbing, and for that i cant blame them, if you could get thousands of pounds you all would.

they get broken bones, its hardly like they are faking it!!!

With the injuries that Arsenal have sustained, we will have to put out our ‘Carling Cup squad’. You do remember that squad. Instead of hoping for a tie, you should pray that for a score of less than three goals.

Did any one else pick up some interference coming from somewhere onto our blog. Bit like a midge buzzing around, best thing is to ignore it.

I like Tom_Toons pick and reckon Beye is by far the best buy of the current crop.

The Toon injury curse once again lifts its ugly head, did someone open up an Egyptian tomb on holiday or something, it’s beyond belief.

a lot of people dont agree throwing them in at the deep end is a good idea but they always seem to perform bes and can see him unsettling a few arsenal members and being the opitemy, epitemy? whaever of BSA’s football that has caused so many problems against teams like arsenal in the past.

Arsenal are a great team with some spectacular players but without Hleb, Fabregas and Van Persie they are not at their strongest. In the Carling Cup we leaked a goal in the last few minutes, threw everyone forward and leaked another. I’d rather see than that than go one nil down and throw everyone back to avoid another goal. I hope we slaughter the gooner f***cks.
