Smith – Everyone’s Together at Newcastle

Alan Smith had his best game for Newcastle United last night, there was no doubt about that.

Right from the kick off Alan was a thorn in Arsenal’s side, and worked his socks off in a tremendous team effort from the Magpies, against the best team in the Premier League right now – Arsenal.

Alan Smith – everyone’s together at Newcastle

Alan talked after the game and said:

“I think tonight showed everyone is 100 per cent behind everything we’re doing.” “We need everyone together and we showed that tonight. With commitment like that we can only go forward.”

“I know people say we need time but that wasn’t a team that need time tonight.” “If we play with passion like that we won’t go far wrong.”

“The goals people score against us are unstoppable and tonight’s was a kick in the teeth – but it means everything if a teams is together.”

We could see why Alan was keeping Mark Viduka out of the side. He is a very physical player and was the battering ram up front last night for the Geordies, and you could see why Big Sam likes to have Alan somewhere in the team every game.

But last night was an eye opener for the fans. If we can play like that against Arsenal, there is no excuse not to do the same against weaker sides like Birmingham and Derby County, two sides who will be arriving at St. James’ Park in the near future. We need wins against those teams so we can start our ascent of the league again. The team has shown they are very good when they want to be – and nothing less than that will now be expected.

birmingham and derby should be 6 pts in the bag.. CANT LET THE POINTS DOWN NOW. anything other than that is bittterly dissapointing. expecting a tough fight against birmingham though.

We need 12 points from the next 4 games. Sick of us looking at we what we might get instead of going for gold. Great crowd atmos against Arsenal. Felt the excitment in Australia

Smith was absolutely outstanding up front last night. In my oponion he and Martins could form an incredible partnership.
Fantastic game to watch and even if we’d lost I would have been positive for the next games.
Thought Milner, Geremi and Taylor were brilliant too.
Come January, sell Owen for about 8M if we can and get in someone as commited as these guys plus a creative midfielder and I’ll be delighted.

I don’t think it’s “6 points in the bag” against Brum and Derby. I don’t think that demanding or even just expecting wins/points is the right way to go. That’s what got us in the mess between the fans/players/manager for the Liverpool game.
I’ll take two performances (from the players and fans) in the next two matches like last nights effort and except the points we’ll earn with that.
