Sam – Taylor, Beye Rozehnal Playing Well

Since Steven Taylor has come back in our last two games, we have managed to pick up a valuable 4 points and Steven has looked very solid in the center of the defense.

Steven Taylor – looked good at back in last two games

We also think that Habib Beye has been playing very well in our last 3-4 games and of course was the hero on Saturday with the late winner.

We’ve liked David Rozehnal at the back too, but he was badly at fault on Saturday for Birmingham’s first goal. Sam Allardyce has talked about all three players to the Evening Chronicle today:

“Having Steven back is very important. It gives us a more solid unit.” “It’s not easy for a player to come from another country and play in the Premier League.”

“Habib Beye and David Rozehnal have been doing unbelievably well for their first season.” “Yes, they’ve made one or two mistakes along the way, but we have to accept that while they’re gaining Premier League experience.”

“I’ve said right from the start I needed as much Premier League experience as I could get. We tried to buy it, but we couldn’t get it.” “We ended up with these players who I know are quality, but need a little bit of time to come through. These two have come through really, really quickly.”

Since the team, and particularly the defense are now seeming to gel much better, there’s a couple of things we will be looking for. We need some clean sheets that will give us a chance to pick up all 3 points in games, and we’ll also have to see what best back four Sam thinks he has.

It certainly looks like Taylor should now be one of the central defenders and we still have Faye and Cacapa fighting for those central positions. Also at left back N’Zogbia is now preferred to young Enrique, but we’d like to see the Spaniard get more chances at left-back in the upcoming games. From what we’ve seen of him, he has everything it takes to be successful in the Premiership.

What do you think? Let us know – comments always welcome.

Agreed all 3 are quality, especially Beye and Taylor!!! Beye is hardworking and committed and even tried to get the crowd going that day! Wonderful! Steven Taylor – a homegrown talent, called up to the senior squad, has everything it takes but he actually makes silly mistakes from time to time too. As long as he keeps developing and DOES NOT BECOME A PRICK LIKE TERRY everything will be great!!

As for Roz, he is a proven defender – just that his past few performances have left everybody asking for more, and we know that he can do it. So let’s get behind him but I would like to see him dwell less on the ball and pass better, I think he can work on these few things. And of course, his anticipation. Really hope we keep a few clean sheets in the course of the next few games!

Taylor has the mental and physical qualities to be a top class defender but he needs a regular partner in defence. Chelsea have JT and Carvalho, Arsenal – Gallas and Toure, Man Utd – Ferdinand and Vidic. The more we change our team the less stable it becomes. Roz & Beye need a run of games then their true class will come through. Bear in mind they have about 50 international caps between them!

Taylor gives 100% true, but, I think he will be struggling to get a place at CB when all our other defenders are fully fit and acclimatised to the PL.
Cacapa, Ros and Faye are much better players and Taylor does not do so well at RB. We need some more cover for Beye (a top man) in that position.

i think sam alardyce is holding enrique back, purposely, he is going to keep him fresh and strong, gaining experience coming off the bench a few times and playing in the reserves, so he has alot of hunger and drive to do well when some of our players leave for the African’s cup of nations.

my opinion of the cup is that it will give some of our reserves a chance to shine, maybe triosi will get a chance at right midfield also…

Taylor’s played well recently and nice to see but it’s now down to him to keep the shirt, him and Feye been the best IMO. Taylor is a better cb than a rb.

Beye at rb had some good games and has had his bit of luck (which is always nice to have)like the winner on Saturday, he won the corner and scored from it 🙂
