Newcastle United players made their annual visit to the Children’s wards of the local hospitals this week to help spread a little bit of Christmas joy, and we’re so pleased the lads do this – it means so much to the younger fans of our great club.
Joey Barton with Newcastle youngster – eyeing each other up – great photograph!
Newcastle captain Geremi led a group of other Newcastle players to the General Hospital.
And at the Freeman Hospital in Jesmond, children thought Christmas had come early when James Milner, Nicky Butt and other players arrived bearing black and white gift bags. The players did their rounds, and of course posed with the children for photographs, and signed many autographs, all of which will be treasured for years, no doubt.
David Rozehnal with 8 year-old Jay Tague – a future Newcastle defender?
David Rozehnal, a big man with a big heart, visited the RVI, and said:
“It’s nice as players to be able to bring a smile to the children’s faces at this time of year.–It’s hard for them and their families and we are more than happy to come along and chat and give out presents.”
As we said we think it’s just great that the players do this every year. It’s good for the children, good for the staff at the hospitals – and good for them. 😀
