Newcastle Linked With Placente and Kadar

11:35 am, Sunday, December 16th, 2007 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 10 Comments

Newcastle are today being linked again with a number of players. One deal that seems to be going through is to bring 17 year-old Hungarian Tamas Kadar to St. James’ Park. We covered Tamas earlier in the week as a Newcastle target.

Chris Mort – Chairman is bringing a number of promising youngsters to the club

Newcastle United and Wigan Athletic are reported to be trying to sign Celta Vigo wing-back Diego Placente. The Argentine international is leaving Celta in the January transfer window, and has received offers from several Premiership clubs, which are thought to include both Newcastle United and Wigan Athletic.

Newcastle are also reported today to be doing a deal for Zalaegerszeg’s 17-year-old defender Tamas Kadar. The Hungarian, who was also invited to a trial with Bolton, is a first-team regular and impressed in Newcastle’s friendly against Hartlepool on Thursday afternoon. The club hope to do a deal for the very promising Hungarian youngster, for about £650K, which sounds reasonable.

This would be the second 17 year-old defender Newcastle will sign, because the good news from Swindon Town today, is they will announce tomorrow that Newcastle United have done a deal for their left-back Ben Tozer for £1.1M.

Comments welcome.

a player linked with wigan.. definitely a false one. plus it doesn’t make sense to sign another left back. U mean Tamas Kadar played for newcastle against Hartlepool?

Nowt wrong with 17 year olds if they are good enough, look at Gareth Bale and there was a young Brazilian by the name of Pele or something.

hey you wont get me complaining about signing too many young possible future talent. its great news, i dont think it has ever happened for us in the past.

I am still concerned with the central mid. The holding role, the Makelele, Mascherano,Flamini,Hamman role because I am not convinved that Butt is good enough.

I was hoping for Edmilson, but seems we are not in for him. Rhe combination of Barton and Emre mmnnhhh… I dont know!

What seems clear though, is that our captain will be reduced to the bench pretty soon. As soon as Duff proves he is back on the left and Milner moves to the right, then we might be seeing less and less of Geremi. Which IMO is not a bad thing at all

Wayne rooney just bulldozes his way through defenses. Compare his flair and technique with cristiano ronaldo or messi, laughable.

What about Faye in the holding role? We have other good CBs and I think he played the holding role for Bolton under Sam.
